Hallo zusammen,
mein favorisierter Energieversorger, Zakhidenergo (ZAEN), ist ab heute in Berlin gelistet.
Hier die Daten vom Freiverkehr:
ZAHIDENERGO GDR REG S/3

Was läuft besser.

Ukraine’s energy sector presented to global investors in the U.S.
KYIV, UKRAINE, April 6, 2004 – MFK, Ukraine’s leading investment bank, facilitated the participation of Ukrainian electricity generator, Zakhidenergo, in a CA IB 8th annual EMEA conference held in New York 1 – 2 April 2004. Remarkably, this is the first time a Ukrainian company has taken part in this event. The conference was attended by major Western institutional investment funds where companies from Poland, Check Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Russia and other EMEA countries had an opportunity to discuss their businesses with portfolio managers in strictly one-on-one meetings. Only investors with over USD 100 mn in capital were invited to participate in the conference, with the majority having over USD 1 bn in invested capital.
Zakhidenergo is one of Ukraine’s five largest thermal power generators and the only electricity generator in Ukraine directly connected to the European energy system CENTREL/UCTE. A significant portion of electricity produced by Zakhidenergo is being exported. Yuriy Kukhar, Zakhidenergo’s COO, represented the company at the conference. He conducted 15 one-on-one 1-hour meetings with portfolio investors building exposure of the company to Western capital. A favored blue chip in the Ukrainian stock market, Zakhidenergo’s share price has grown 52% YTD. The company’s ADR program was launched in June 2003.
MFK is one of the largest Ukrainian investment banks, focused on providing high-quality full-service brokerage and counseling in the Ukrainian market. MFK targets institutional clientele from Western Europe and the USA and enjoys a strong reputation as the major trading house catering to internationals in the Ukrainian market. Among related transactions is MFK’s acquisition of a 5.17% stake in Zakhidenergo in October 2003 for a private investor.

Zakhidenergo reported preliminary net sales of USD 93 mil. (up 6% y-o-y) and NI of USD 6.7 mil. (up
2%) for 1Q04. The reported 1Q04 net margin of 7.2% is slightly below the 1Q03 margin of 7.5% but is
well above the 2003 figure of 0.4%. In 1Q04 the generator produced 3,715 GWh of energy (down 3%
y-o-y), but the decline was offset by a 9.5% y-o-y tariff increase, to 2.8 U.S. cents/kWh. (Ukrainian News)
Zakhidenergo enjoys the highest tariff among large thermal generators thanks to a large number
of functioning power blocks (due to the operation of its Burshtynska power plant in an energy
island). The generator is paid for flexibility in operating capacity as it can regulate output by
changing production at its power blocks. In 1Q04 Zakhidenergo sold Energorynok 3,345 GWh of
energy (down 3% y-o-y) worth USD 93 mil. (up 6%) and received 90% of this sum in cash (92%
in total). We maintain our forecast of Zakhidenergo’s 2004 financials and expect the company to
post sales of USD 326 mil. (up 5% y-o-y), EBITDA of USD 37.5 mil. (up 2%) and NI of USD 8.7
mil. (up 634%), which implies EBITDA and net margins of 11.5% and 2.7% respectively. We
forecast lower full-year margins as 1Q and 4Q are usually the strongest for thermal generators
while their summer performance is weaker.

Zakhidenergo announced final 1Q04 results, reporting sales of USD 93 mil. (up 6% y-o-y),
EBITDA of USD 12 mil. (up 2%), EBIT of USD 9 mil. (up 27%) and NI of USD 7 mil. (up
2%). In 1Q04, the generator produced 3.7 TWh of energy (down 3%y-o-y) and sold 3.3 TWh
(down 3%) to Energorynok, but the decline was offset by a 9.5% y-o-y tariff increase, to 2.8
U.S. cents/kWh (the highest tariff among thermal generators). (Ukrainian News)
Zakhidenergo’s 1Q04 EBITDA margin declined by 0.5 percentage points y-o-y, to
13.2%, due to a 21% rise in personnel costs, to USD 7 mil., and 8% growth in input
costs. But the operating margin grew 1.7 p.p., to 10.1%, because of lower depreciation
costs (down 38%, to USD 3 mil.). The generator’s 1Q04 net margin declined by 0.4 p.p.
y-o-y, to 7.2%, due to USD 2 mil. income tax, while the tax was almost zero in 1Q03.

Zakhidenergo announces strong 1H04 results. Zakhidenergo reported 1H04 net sales of USD 176 mil. (up 17% y-o-y) and net income of USD 9.8 mil. (up 280% y-o-y).
The reported net
margin of 5.6% is 3.9 percentage points above the corresponding
1H03 margin and is significantly better than the 2003 full-year
figure of 0.4%. The generator’s sales grew on the back of 5%
y-o-y growth of 1H04 energy sales to Energorynok, to 6.2 TWh,
and an 11% tariff increase, to 2.8 US cents/kWh. This year,
Zakhidenergo is enjoying the highest demand and tariffs among
large thermal generators thanks to a large number of functioning
power blocks (due to the operation of its Burshtynska power
plant in an energy island). The generator is paid for flexibility in
operating capacity as it can regulate output by changing
production at its power blocks. We will report in detail on the
company’s results next week. (Reuters)

EBRD to consider investing in Zakhidenergo power plant. According to a Fuel and Energy Ministry official, the government has received the EBRD’s consent to look into the possibility of financing the completion of Dobrotvirska 2 thermal power plant, a 99% owned subsidiary of Zakhidenergo. (Interfax)
The ministry official said the EBRD demands government guarantees for the future loan as a prerequisite of its participation in the project. Germany’s RWE earlier also expressed interest in investing in Dobrotvirska 2 to export energy to be produced by the plant to Europe. Zakhidenergo has already approved the project to build three 225 MW coal-fired power blocks at Dobrotvirska 2. The first power block is 60% completed, and investments in it totaled USD 40 mil. The block’s remaining construction costs are estimated at USD 100 mil., with CAPEX needed for the two other blocks estimated at USD 250-400 mil.
Zakhidenergo operates three power plants (Dobrotvirska, Burshtynska and Ladyzhynska) with total installed capacity of 4,708 MW. Dobrotvir 2 is a major capacity replacement opportunity for Zakhidenergo as the 600 MW capacity of Dobrotvirska’s five power blocks is not sufficient and the blocks, operating since 1964, are worn out. Being Ukraine’s only generator linked to the European grid, Zakhidenergo will benefit from Dobrotvir 2’s capacity to produce electricity for export. With the news of EBRD interest in Dobrotvir, Zakhidenergo now seems to have a realistic opportunity to attract a long-sought reputable investor. If the EBRD decides to finance Dobrotvir 2, that would provide Zakhidenergo with additional protection against asset stripping and would further improve its investment attractiveness

According to the Fuel & Energy Ministry’s preliminary data, net electricity consumption in
Ukraine grew by 4.6% y-o-y, to 122 TWh, in 11M04, although energy output increased by
only 0.7%, to 163 TWh, and energy exports rose 3.7%, to 4.6 TWh, over the period. Energy
consumption is rising thanks to the continuing strong economic expansion, and the higher net
consumption growth rate as compared with energy output demonstrates a sharp decline in
transmission losses, mainly in the low-voltage grid. (Interfax)
In 11M04, industrial companies increased electricity consumption by 6.2% y-o-y, to
71.3 TWh, residential sector by 3.2%, to 35.0 TWh, and transport by 0.7%, to 8.5 TWh.
11M04 energy consumption in agriculture declined by 10% y-o-y, to 3.0 TWh. Nonindustrial
companies and construction industry posted the highest consumption
growth in 11M04: up 10% and 16% y-o-y, to 3.8 TWh and 0.8 TWh respectively.
We forecast 2004 full-year energy output at 181 TWh (up 1% y-o-y) and net
consumption at 135 TWh (up 4.5%). We expect industrial companies to remain the
largest energy consumers with a 58% share in total consumption, to be followed by the
residential segment (29% share), transport (6.9%), non-industrial consumers (2.9%),
agriculture (2.5%) and construction (0.6%). In 2005, we expect higher energy output
(up 4% y-o-y, to 189 TWh) to be offset by growth in energy exports (up 75%, to 9 TWh)
and forecast net electricity consumption at 138 TWh (up 2.3% y-o-y).

Zakhidenergo to raise energy exports. The president of the
state energy holding Energy Company of Ukraine, Oleg
Dubyna, said the company was considering launching energy
exports to Romania. Zakhidenergo would be able to increase
exports having completed the upgrade of its power block #11.
Zakhidenergo, which operates three power plants with total
capacity of 4,708 MW, currently produces electricity for export
to Moldova, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. Although the
energy is exported by the state company in charge of energy
exports, Ukrinterenegro, Zakhidenergo still benefits from
strong foreign demand, as reflected by its strong operating and
financial performance this year. We expect the launch of energy
exports to Romania to further boost the generator’s output,
sales and margins. In addition, the state nuclear energy
company Energoatom, which operates Ukraine’s four nuclear
power plants, started exporting electricity to Russia and plans
to deliver 190 GWh in December and raise deliveries to 500
GWh per month in 2005. We expect Ukraine’s 2004 energy
exports to grow by 7% y-o-y, to 5,300 GWh, including 4,200
GWh for Europe (down 2% y-o-y), 910 GWh for Moldova (up
4%), and 190 GWh for Russia. (Ukrainian News)

nehmt´s doch mal so:
wer 50% performance hat, soll sich freuen.
wer 100& performance hat, soll sich freuen.
wer 500%, sowieso.

nehmt´s doch mal so:
wer 50% performance hat, soll sich freuen.
wer 100& performance hat, soll sich freuen.
wer 500%, sowieso.
-->Thats it!
Zakhidenergo is ready to export electricity to Romania
Ukrenergo, a Ukrainian united energy systems coordination company, reported yesterday that Zakhidenergo’s Burshtyn Energy Island will now be able to export 370 GWh to Romania on a monthly basis.
Foyil: This, combined with 500 GWhmonthly exports to Russia, puts Ukraine’s potential exports around 1200 GWh for2005. We expect the actual export to begin in the 1Q 2005. This is in line with ourexpectations for Zakhidenergo and Ukraine’s total electricity export and supportsour BUY recommendation for Zakhidenergo.

Ukrenergo: Ukraine now can boost electric exports to Romania
KIEV, Jan. 10 - Ukraine now has the technical capability to export about 370 million kWh of electricity to Romania per month, but is unable to use it, the national energy company Ukrenergo said Monday. This became possible after the first and second zones of the Union for the Co-ordination of Transmission of Electricity (UCTE) were resynchronized in November 2004, allowing electricity to be exported including through Ukraine`s Mukacheve substation in Transcarpathian region, part of the Burshtyn Island cogeneration plant, Interfax-Ukraine reported. Burshtyn Island is in the first zone of the UCTE, while the second zone includes Romania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia and Greece. Burshtyn Island covers part of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions, and has area of about 27,000 square meters and a population of about 3 million. Its export potential is about 600 MW. In fact, exporting electricity to Romania is at present impossible, since almost all capacities of the "island" have been contracted by Hungary and Slovakia in long-term contracts. However, with commissioning of additional generating capacities in the "island" or if Hungary or Slovakia reduce electricity imports, Ukraine will be able to export electricity to Romania. The external links from the power island are Mukacheve-Velke Kapuszany (Slovakia, 400 kV) power transmission line, the Western Ukrainian s u b s t a t i o n - A l b e r t i r s a (Hungary, 750 kV), Mukacheve-Shayoseged (400 kV), Mukacheve-Tisalek, Mukacheve-Kisvarda (both Hungary, 220 kV each) andM u k a c h e v e - R o s i o r I (Romania, 400 kV). At present the electricity produced by the island is exported to Hungary, Slovakia and Poland, which are included in the first zone of the UCTE. The UCTE was divided into the first and second zones in 1991. The national energy company Ukrenergo is the dispatcher of Ukraine`s unified energy system and operator of interstate and main power transmission lines.(om/ez)
(aus Ukrainian Journal vom 12. Jan. 05)

Zakhidenergo boosts 1H 2005 net income sevenfold - Zakhidenergo’s
CEO, Mr. Omelyanovskiy, announced yesterday that the Company’s half-year net
income grew sevenfold to UAH 16.6m (USD 3.3m) y-o-y. Mr. Omelyanovskiy also said
that Zakhidenergo’s production improved by 6.3% and sales went up by 6.8% y-o-y.
Our view: Although the full six-month results are not yet available, we believe the
improved performance came largely from increased exports handled by
Zakhidenergo’s Burshtyn energy island. The Company’s improving performance
is in line with our expectations and we maintain our BUY recommendation.

Zakhidenergo raised 9M05 sales and EBITDA by 33% y-o-y, to USD 345 mil. and USD 24 mil. respectively, posting an EBITDA margin of 6.9%, which came in line with 1H05 but fell short of our expectation due to a weaker 3Q05. Based on the 9M05 financials, we revised our full-year estimates for Zakhidenergo and now expect the generator’s 2005E sales at USD 480 mil. (up 31% y-o-y), EBITDA at USD 33 mil. (up 58%) and NI at USD 9 mil. (down 19%). Our adjusted DCF model puts Zakhidenergo’s 12-month price target at USD 32.64/share, implying 33% upside. Based on the strong upside and low corporate governance risks, we reiterate our Buy recommendation on the stock.
