Metalex-WSR-Arctic Star joint venture intersect massive sulphides on Ring of Fire geophysical target, James Bay Lowlands, Ontario
5/22/2008 2:21:38 PM - Canada NewsWire
KELOWNA, BC, May 22, 2008 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) --
Metalex Ventures Limited (MTX: TSX-V) ("Metalex") Project Geologist, Brian Polk, has advised that the first hole, inclined at 60 degrees towards a sympathetic electromagnetic - magnetic Noront-style geophysical anomaly, has intersected massive sulphides between 78.1 and 90.1 metres depth. The hole is targeted to intersect the most conductive anomaly between approximately 100 and 150 metres in depth. The true width of the sulfide intersection is not known at this time.
Significant amounts of pyrrohotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite have been visually identified by Brian Polk within the massive sulphides. The anomaly is believed to be within the projected strike of the "Ring of Fire" zone that hosts the Noront discoveries. Mineralized parts of the drill hole are being cut in half, so that one half of the mineralized zones can be couriered to a laboratory for nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum-paladium-rhodium-gold-silver assay analysis.

WSR-METALEX-Arctic Star Joint Venture Intersects 95.0 Meters of Semi-Massive to Near-Massive Sulphides on Anomaly 5.01, James Bay Lowlands, Ontario
Wednesday June 4, 12:42 pm ET
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 4, 2008) - WSR Gold Inc. (TSX VENTURE:WSR - News), Metalex Ventures Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:MTX - News; "Metalex"), and Arctic Star Resources Inc.'s (TSX VENTURE:ADD - News; "Arctic Star") Joint Venture Project along the Ring of Fire, 45 Kilometers North of Noront's Eagle One Discovery encountered a significant width of Volcanic Derived Sulphides (VDS) mineralization in hole number 5.01-6. The property consisting of 160 acres, is under option by WSR, whereby WSR can earn up to a 50% interest in the property.
John Harvey, consulting geologist to WSR and a Qualified Person, recently returned from the property and reports the following:
Hole 5.01-06 on north - south Section 1+50East, a 50 meter step out from the previously reported Hole 5.01-01 (see press release dated May 25, 2008), encountered, in highly altered felsic volcanics a strong sulphide zone from 72.7 meters to 167.7 meters (95.0 meters) containing visible copper, zinc, lead and iron sulphide mineralization in semi to near massive sulphides. The dip and strike of the zone have not yet been determined and the true width cannot be determined at this time. Drilling is continuing with one diamond drill for the present and samples are currently being prepared for shipping to an independent assay laboratory where strict quality control procedures are in place and the results will be closely monitored by Ms. Tracy Armstrong of P&E Mining Consultants of Brampton, Ontario.
Hole 5.01-01, reported in a previous press release dated May 22, 2008 on Section 1+00 was followed by four additional holes on the same section. All the four other holes encountered 3 main parallel, steeply dipping core lengths of sulphide mineralization with visible copper, zinc, lead and iron sulphides in an altered felsic volcanic sequence but were not as well mineralized as was observed in hole 5.01-06.

The anomaly 5.01 Project is managed and operated by Metalex for the Joint Venture partners under supervision of Dr. Charles Fipke, Chairman of Metalex and a Qualified Person.
WSR believes that the recent drill hole results, with the presence of visible copper, zinc and lead sulphides being observed on site by the project's geologist are very encouraging and could be of significant importance to the Joint Venture Partners if the assay results pending are favourable. Notwithstanding the foregoing, visible observations are estimates only and pending assay results may not confirm visual observations in whole or in part.
Dr. Charles Fipke is the Qualified Person responsible for the technical contents of this press release.

Metalex Ventures Limited - Two new diatremes discovered in Angola
Thursday June 5, 1:54 pm ET
KELOWNA, BC, June 5 /CNW/ - Metalex Ventures Limited (MTX:TSX - Venture Exchange) is pleased to announce that another two diatremes have been intersected at its project in Angola. This brings the number of diatremes discovered by the current drill program to five. In addition four diatremes were pitted or augered last year and were confirmed as kimberlite.
This fourth diatreme discovered by the current drill program was intersected by a vertical core hole at a depth of approximately 10 feet. Diatreme, containing sandstone xenoliths, was intersected to a depth of 565 feet. Sandstone was intersected from 565 feet to the end of the hole at 600 feet. It is not clear whether this sandstone represents the diatreme wall or a large xenolith at depth.
Drilling of the next target intersected the fifth diatreme at a depth of 8 feet. The hole remained in the diatreme to 602 feet, the planned end depth.
The drill is currently being moved to the next target.
The last of approximately 150 alluvial heavy mineral and weathered rock pit samples have now been collected. The first shipment of these samples, along with core from the first three diatremes intersected, has now arrived at the CF Mineral Research Ltd. laboratory in Kelowna and the samples are being analyzed for diamonds and diamond indicator minerals.

WSR hits mineralized sulphides near Noront
Vancouver - WSR Gold (WSR-V) got a healthy boost following news that the sixth drill hole into its Ring of Fire joint venture in the James Bay Lowlands hit a significant width of volcanic-derived sulphide mineralization.
At the Anomaly 5.01 claim block, which sits 45 km north of Noront Resources' (NOT-V) Eagle One discovery, WSR drill hole 6 encountered a strong sulphide zone starting 73 metres downhole and extending 95 metres. Hosted in highly altered felsic volcanics, WSR's consulting geologist John Harvey described the intersections as containing visible copper, zinc, lead, and iron sulphide mineralization in semi- to near- massive sulphides.
Hole 6 was a 50-metre step-out from hole 1, which cut 11 metres of near-massive iron, copper, and zinc sulphides. Four additional holes along the same section encountered three main parallel, steeply-dipping core lengths of sulphide mineralization with visible copper, zinc, lead, and iron sulphides in an altered volcanic sequence. Hole 3, for example, returned 13.7 metres of semi-massive iron copper sulphides from 56 metres downhole followed by 7.7 metres of iron, copper, and zinc sulphides from 76 metres depth and 18.6 metres of iron, copper, and zinc sulphides from 92 metres depth. None of the first five holes, however, were as well mineralized as hole 6.
WSR is managing and operating the Anomaly 5.01 project in order to earn a 50% interest in the claims from Metalex Ventures (MTX-V), which holds a 91.5% interest, and Arctic Star Diamond (ADD-V), which owns the remaining (8.5%). For its 50% WSR must spend $20 million over four years, pursuant to an agreement signed in early 2008.
Anomaly 5.01 is just one of 21 potential Noront-style electromagnetic-magnetic anomalies on the joint venture's claim block. The area also hosts 19 additional electromagnetic conductor anomalies. WSR has cut ground grids and completed ground electromagnetic and magnetic geophysical surveys on 16 of the 21 Noront-style anomalies; drill hole targets have been identified on three. Anomaly 5.01 was the first anomalous target ready for drilling.
And the Metalex-Arctic Star joint venture is not WSR's only Ring of Fire project. In three separate agreements WSR agreed to operate the exploration on a total of 17 claim blocks totalling over 37,000 hectares on the northeast corner of the Ring of Fire on behalf of partners Noront, MacDonald Mines Exploration (BMK-V), and Metalex. WSR can earn a 50% interest in the Noront claims and a 75% interest in the MacDonald claims.
In the last few months the company has constructed a 20-person exploration camp, prioritized exploration targets, undertaken an extensive ground geophysics program, and commenced a 2,500-metre drill program
The Ring of Fire is am arc-shaped greenstone belt encompassing McFauld's Lake and outlined by geophysical surveys that has yielded clusters of mineralization, including the Noront discovery
In order to finance all of its various Ring of Fire projects in late April WSR closed a $9-million financing. The company issued 11 million units at 50¢ a piece, comprising one share and half a warrant, as well as 5.8 million flow-through units at 60¢ each, comprising one flow-through share and half a warrant. Warrants are exercisable at 65¢ for one share within 24 months.
The financing left WSR with $14 million cash in hand.
News of the intersection from hole 6 boosted WSR 13¢ to close at 79¢ in June 4 trading. The company has a 52-week trading range of 20¢ to $1 and has 111.5 million shares issued. Metalex gained 2¢ to close at 38.5¢.

Mr. Chad Ulansky of Metalex reports
METALEX-WSR-ARCTIC STAR JOINT VENTURE INTERSECTS 131.9 METERS OF SEMI-MASSIVE TO NEAR-MASSIVE SULPHIDES IN HOLE 5.01-09, UNDER HOLE 5.01-06, ON ANOMALY 5.01, JAMES BAY LOWLANDS, ONTARIO
The joint venture project of Metalex Ventures Ltd., WSR Gold Inc. and Arctic Star Diamond Corp. along the Ring of Fire, 45 kilometres north of Noront's Eagle One discovery, has encountered another significant width of volcanic-derived sulphides (VDS) mineralization in hole No. 5.01-09. This property, of 65 hectares, is one of 113 joint venture claim blocks under option by WSR, whereby WSR can earn up to a 50-per-cent interest in the property by spending $20-million over four years, thereby diluting Metalex to a 45.75-per-cent interest and Arctic Star to a 4.25-per-cent interest. Currently, Metalex has a 91.5-per-cent interest and Arctic Star has an 8.5-per-cent interest. Within the option agreement covering approximately 21,400 hectares, there are numerous other high-priority targets throughout the area.
To date, on the 5.01 discovery, 10 holes have been completed totalling 1,903.5 metres. Hole 5.01-06, reported in a previous press release in Stockwatch dated June 4, 2008, on Section 1+50 east, was followed by three additional holes on the same section. Hole 5.01-10 was a 50-metre step-out east of 5.01-09 on Section 2+00 east. The zone dips steeply north below the Precambrian surface which is overlain by approximately 15 to 20 metres of gravel and Paleozoic sedimentary cover. The VDS mineralization has been delineated thus far on sections 1+00 east and 1+50 east (50 metres apart) down to a vertical depth of 200 metres. On a third section (2+00 east), the first hole completed (5.10-10) failed to intersect the zone at its targeted vertical depth of 150 metres.
Hole No. 5.01-07 was drilled in a southeasterly direction to check for a northeasterly-southwesterly strike direction and encountered only minor iron sulphide mineralization.
Hole No. 5.01-08 drilled southerly, across the assumed east-west strike direction, encountered only sparse mineralization at shallow depths over the top of the main mineralization.
Hole No. 5.01-09 drilled southerly, 50 metres down dip below hole 5.01-08, encountered the main zone from 103.5 metres to 235.4 metres (103.5 metres in total) in the drill hole and is similar in visible sulphide content to hole No. 5.01-06.
Hole No. 5.01-10, a 50-metre step-out to the east of hole 5.01-09 and along strike, intersected only minor sulphides.
Hole No. 5.01-11 currently being drilled is designed to test for the main mineralization down the steep easterly plunge, 50 metres below hole 5.01-10 on the same north-south cross-section (2+00 east).

The anomaly 5.01 project is managed and operated by Metalex for the joint venture partners under supervision of Dr. Charles Fipke, chairman of Metalex. Dr. Fipke and John Harvey, PEng, a consulting geologist for WSR, prepared this release.
Metalex believes that the recent drill results, with the presence of visible copper, zinc and lead sulphides being observed on site by the project's geologist, are very encouraging and could be of significant importance to the joint venture partners if the assay results pending are favourable. Notwithstanding the foregoing, visible observations are estimates only and pending assay results may not confirm visual observations in whole or in part. The widths given above are core widths only and do not represent true widths which cannot be determined at this time.
John Archibald, PEng, and a qualified person, has reviewed the drill core and confirms the visual descriptions described herein. Assay results are pending for all holes completed to date.

Metalex's Ekomiak JV recovers 106 purple diamonds
2008-08-07 08:51 ET - News Release
Mr. Chad Ulansky reports
METALEX VENTURES LTD. - 106 PURPLE DIAMONDS IN QUEBEC ROCK SAMPLES
Metalex Ventures Ltd. and its joint venture partners Dianor Resources Inc. and Wemindji Exploration Inc. have received final diamond results for 111 reconnaissance surface rock samples taken on the joint venture's Ekomiak II, IV, V, VI and VII properties in the James Bay region of Quebec. Diamonds were recovered from all of the five sampled properties spread over a large geographical area of James Bay that is easily accessible by road. A review of the diamonds recovered to date by CF Minerals of Kelowna, B.C., confirmed the presence of 106 purple-coloured diamonds in five samples from two properties (Ekomiak V and VII).
A single surface rock sample from the Ekomiak V property weighing 36.66 kilograms (approximately 81 pounds) contained 94 purple diamonds in addition to numerous other-coloured diamonds. The Ekomiak V samples also returned an average coloured diamond content of brown (30 per cent), purple (22 per cent), grey (15 per cent), yellow (9 per cent), green (5 per cent) and amber (2 per cent). Eighty-three per cent of the diamonds recovered and described from the properties were coloured diamonds. Natural fancy-coloured diamonds are very rare and expensive with purple as one of the rarest and most desirable colours. The main host rocks are conglomerates of Archean age, between 2,716 and 2,733 million years old, thus making these Quebec diamond discoveries both unique and amongst the oldest diamond-bearing occurrence in the world (see Stockwatch news dated March 3, 2007).
Fifty-four of the 111 reconnaissance surface rock samples were diamond bearing and a total of 1,717 diamonds were recovered. The results show that on average, 49 per cent of the rock samples from all the sampled properties were diamond bearing while 82 per cent of the rock samples from the Ekomiak V property were diamondiferous.
Cumulative results for all diamond-bearing surface conglomerate samples from the five sampled properties are outlined in the tables.

The majority (90) of the surface rock samples were processed by autogenous (attrition) milling at the CF Minerals Research Limited laboratory in Kelowna, B.C., to recover indicator minerals followed by caustic fusion to recover diamonds. The remaining 21 rock samples were caustically fused for diamonds only at the SRC diamond laboratory in Saskatoon, Sask. (see Stockwatch news dated March 3, 2008, April 10, 2008, and May 14, 2008). The Ekomiak IV, V and VII properties are located between 70 and 90 kilometres south of Radisson while the Ekomiak VI property is located approximately 200 kilometres directly south of Radisson, Que. All the properties sampled are readily accessible by road.
Indicator minerals (approximately 15,000) were recovered through the autogenous (attrition) milling of the outcrop samples of conglomerate and microprobe analyses of approximately 1,500 grains identified kimberlite and diamond indicator minerals (DIMs) including olivine, pyrope (G9 and G10) and eclogitic (G1) garnets; chromites; clinopyroxenes; and picroilmenite. Plotting and evaluation of the data show that approximately 75 per cent of olivines and 25 per cent of chromites plot in the diamond stability field with the picroilmenites plotting in the compositional range normally associated with North American kimberlite. Microprobe analyses and interpretation by CF Minerals also indicated that certain minerals grew in a diamond environment with large diamonds. The indicator mineral assemblages suggest a proximal diamondiferous primary source rocks for the diamonds in the conglomerates. A pyrope G10-10 garnet was identified in one of the four samples taken from Ekomiak VI where geological mapping by the Quebec government delineated an area of 20 to 30 square kilometres of conglomerate.
Management is encouraged with the sample results especially the percentage content of the rare purple diamonds and size of the coloured stones from small 30-kilogram (70-pound) rock samples taken from the surface of large outcrops on the Ekomiak V property and the confirmation that the purple diamonds occur in five samples. The high percentage of coloured diamonds indicates that the James Bay area of Quebec has the potential to be a premier area for coloured diamonds in North America if not the world apart from the Australian Argyle mine where coloured diamonds are mined and marketed by Rio Tinto. Management is also encouraged that the reconnaissance sampling program of 2007 proved the presence of diamondiferous conglomerates on all of the five properties. Also, in the current era of high energy prices, all of the five properties are close to and cut by highways and as the diamond-bearing rocks are exposed on surface, current and future activities fit a low-cost exploration model for diamond exploration and exploitation compared with other diamond exploration areas of Canada.

METALEX-WSR-ARCTIC STAR JOINT VENTURE INTERSECTS 26M OF 13.8% ZN
Metalex Ventures Ltd., WSR Gold Inc. and Arctic Star Resources Inc.'s joint venture project along the Ring of Fire in the James Bay Lowlands, are releasing the first assay results from its zinc-copper-lead-silver (Zn-Cu-Pb-Ag) discovery on anomaly 5.01, located 45 kilometres north of Noront's Eagle One deposit.
Highlights:
* DDH5.01-06 intersected near-massive to massive sulphides from 65 to 167 m downhole for a length of 102 m averaging 6.5 per cent Zn, 0.44 per cent Cu, 0.19 per cent Pb and three grams per tonne Ag. Included within this section, from 99.7 to 125.7 m, for a length of 26 m, the zone averaged 13.8 per cent Zn, 0.50 per cent Cu, 0.05 per cent Pb and two g/t Ag.
* DDH5.01-14 intersected similar near-massive to massive sulphides from 83.0 to 120.0 m downhole for a length of 37.0 m, averaging 6.0 per cent Zn, 0.34 per cent Cu, 0.05 per cent Pb and six g/t Ag. Included in this section, from 103.0 to 111.0 m, for a length of eight m, the zone averaged 17.4 per cent Zn, 0.24 per cent Cu, 0.04 per cent Pb and five g/t Ag.
* DDH5.01-15 intersected similar near-massive to massive sulphides from 158.8 to 184.2 m downhole, for a length of 25.4 m, averaging 7.6 per cent Zn, 0.35 per cent Cu, 0.36 per cent Pb and eight g/t Ag.
* Mineralization, alteration and the geological environment at the 5.01 anomaly appears to be typical of a Noranda-Mattabi-style VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide) deposit.
* The mineralized zone appears to subcrop beneath approximately 15 metres of glacial till and thus far has been delineated along a north-south strike for 150 m, dips 75 degrees to the east, with a maximum core width of 53 m and plunging flatly to the south. The base metal occurrence appears open in all directions.
* To date, Metalex has completed 25 holes on the 5.01 anomaly totalling 5,699.4 meters since the program began in 2008.
Assay results have now been received for holes 1 to 15. The results from significantly mineralized intervals within these holes are presented in the table.

Additional ground and down hole geophysical surveys have now been completed on 5.01 and the interpretation of the data is awaited. The joint venture has temporarily suspended the drilling on anomaly 5.01 as of Sept 5, 2008, to allow the results of the completed work to guide the next phase of drilling. Detailed logs of the most recent holes, assay results from holes 16 to 25, and the ground geophysical interpretation are currently being completed.
Description of the mineralized body
From the drilling to date, the high-grade Zn-Cu-Pb-Ag mineralized zone has been delineated over a strike length of 150 m which appears to be almost due north-south and dipping steeply at 75 degrees to the east. It has been intersected thus far between 50 and 215 metres below surface and appears to be 3.5 to 53 m wide along core length with a possible shallow 30-degree plunge to the south. The high-grade mineralization is part of a wider, more extensive system of volcanically derived sulphides, hosted within a chlorite-sericite-quartz (plus/minus)-garnet (plus/minus)-staurolite schist. The system appears overturned as higher grade metamorphic minerals are present in the structural hangingwall, with apparent felsic volcaniclastic lithologies occurring in the structural footwall. Additional drilling is needed to confirm the geometry of the deposit.
Drilling in the James Bay Lowlands without bedrock exposure to aid in geological interpretation of strikes and dips is very challenging. Drilling to date strongly suggests a north-south strike to the mineralized zone. Many of the north-south drill holes drilled during the program have missed the zone entirely, and the more recent east-west drilling has proven to repeatedly intersect the mineralized occurrence. It will be the objective of the next phase of drilling to systematically delineate the mineralized occurrence and complete fill-in drilling to prepare for a 43-101-compliant resource calculation.
5.01 project
This property, of 65 hectares, is one of 113 joint venture claim blocks in the region under option by WSR, whereby WSR can earn up to a 50-per-cent interest in the properties by spending $20-million over four years. Upon completion of the earn-in option, Metalex will carry a 45.75-per-cent interest and Arctic Star a 4.25-per-cent interest.
Within the option agreement, approximately 21,400 hectares of ground is held. Numerous other high priority regional geophysical targets are currently being tested with two highly mobile Metalex drills. The project is managed and operated by Metalex for the joint venture partners under the supervision of Dr. Charles Fipke, chairman of Metalex, with John Harvey, PEng, as a consulting geologist.
Metalex believes that the assay results along with new drill holes and core hosting the presence of visible copper, zinc and lead sulphides observed on site by the project's geologist are very encouraging and are of significant importance to the joint venture partners. Mike Kilbourne, PGeo, and vice-president of exploration for WSR Resources, has reviewed the core and has provided the visual descriptions of the mineralized zones, and conferred with Brian Polk, Metalex project manager, on the geometry of the occurrence. Notwithstanding the foregoing, visible observations are estimates only and pending assay results may not confirm visual observations in whole or in part. The widths given above are core widths only and do not represent true widths which cannot be determined at this time.
On-site quality assurance/quality control measures
All samples reported upon herein were selected, sealed and shipped to ALS Chemex laboratory in Thunder Bay, Ont. All core samples were selected by Metalex site geologists, and were cut in half by diamond core saw. Individual samples were labelled, placed in plastic sample bags and sealed. Groups of samples were then placed into durable rice bags that were secured by project security tags for shipping. The samples were delivered via bonded carrier to ALS Chemex's sample preparation laboratory in Thunder Bay, Ont. All samples were then crushed and pulverized and then the sample pulps were sent to ALS Chemex Laboratory in Vancouver, B.C., for analysis. The remaining coarse reject portions of the samples remain in storage at the ALS Chemex storage facility in Thunder Bay as required in the event that further work is needed. In Vancouver, the samples are analyzed using ALS Chemex assay procedure ME-MS81. When samples received overlimit values they underwent further analysis using ALS Chemex assay procedure OG62. The reader is referred to the company's website for details of these analytical procedures.
Independent quality assurance and quality control protocol
A comprehensive QA/QC program has been implemented to monitor all assays on the 5.01 anomaly. Samples are assembled in numbered batches of 20 samples. Included in each batch of 20 samples are one certified reference standard, one laboratory duplicate, one blank sample consisting of sterile drill core and one core duplicate sample. This QC program was set up for Metalex by Tracy Armstrong, PGeo, of T.J. Armstrong Geological Consulting Inc. Ms. Armstrong is a qualified geologist in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. In reviewing the results, the QA/QC program detected that there was a carryover from high-grade samples to the following sample. The maximum carryover was measured to be 0.14 per cent zinc. Ms. Armstrong states that this degree of carryover is not considered to be geologically nor economically material. An improved cleaning protocol has now been implemented to ensure that this carryover does not occur in future.
Assay results have also been monitored on a continuing, real-time basis for accuracy, contamination and precision by Dr. Barry Smee, PGeo, consulting geochemist, retained by Metalex Ventures.
