Die Aktien des Marktführers im Handheld- und Palm-Top-Computer-Bereich Palm Inc. (Palm) geraten während des heutigen Handels etwas unter Druck. Aktuell notieren sie bei einem Kurs von 26 5/8$. Das entspricht einem Minus von 2 1/8$ oder 7,39 Prozent. Die an der NASDAQ gelisteten Titel des Tochterunternehmens der 3Com, werden von dem schwachen Marktumfeld heruntergerissen.

Aus Unternehmenssicht gab es heute eher positiv zu wertende Meldungen. Bear Stearns stufte die Aktien auf buy. Gleichzeitig schraubte man das Kursziel auf 80$ herauf. Dieses hohe Kursziel basiert auf den Ergebniserwartungen für das Jahr 2001. Bis dahin, so sind sich die Analysten einig, wird ein Umsatz von 1,8 Mrd. $ erwirtschaftet, der Gewinn bis dato auf 13 Cents je Aktie ansteigen. In diesem Jahr (2000) rechnet man mit einem Gewinn von 6 Cents je Aktie.

Nach Meinung von Bear Stearns ist jetzt ein guter Zeitpunkt für Anleger, sich Palm-Aktien ins Depot zu legen.

All Palm Devices to Have Web Access Soon
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Palm Inc.`s (NasdaqNM:PALM - news) chief executive said on Tuesday that all of its handheld computing devices would be able to access the Web by the end of the year, and that the company would offer a wireless clip-on attachment for any Palm Pilots that are not currently online.

``All of our Palms will have access to the Internet by the end of the year,`` said Palm CEO Carl Yankowski, in an interview following a presentation to investors at a Merrill Lynch computer technology conference here.
``There will be an attachment that will clip on the device,`` he said, when asked about Palm users who have already purchased handheld organizers without Web access.

He did not offer details about changes to product lines, but did say that the company was testing so-called Blue Tooth wireless connections, which allow for any device to connect, without any cables, to other devices, computers, and peripherals such as printers.

Merrill Lynch analyst William Crawford said: ``He is sending a message here that says Palm equals wireless. This is a kind of position statement for Palm.``

Yankowski also said that Palm, which recently went public but is still 90 percent owned by 3Com Corp. (NasdaqNM:COMS - news), was in talks with Sony Corp. (6758.T), which is developing smart phones, for possible collaboration on new products: ``We are in a dialogue with Sony to see if there is any overlap in those areas.``

Crawford said that Palm`s stock price has been held in check pending the rollout of stock to 3Com shareholders for the spin-off, which is scheduled for August.
