DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 2001--Delta Petroleum Corporation (Nasdaq: DPTR -
news; Frankfurt Stock Exchange: DPE) completed the sale of 100% working interest in West Delta
Block 52, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, to PANACO, Inc. (AMEX:PNO - news) on Friday, April 13,
2001.

The property was sold for $4,000,000, before adjustments, with an effective date of January 1,
2001. Gross daily production was approximately
300 barrels of oil per day. Delta will use
$3,000,000 of the proceeds to pay down debt.

East Carlsbad Field - New Well Information

Delta has also participated in the drilling of a
12,000 ft. well, the Austin-State No. 1, on the
Company`s East Carlsbad Field leases in Eddy
County, New Mexico. The well was recently
completed in the Morrow Formation at an
average natural gas production test rate of
6.1MMCF per day with a flowing tubing pressure
of 975 psig. Delta owns 21.875% working interest in the well and farmed out an additional 25%
working interest to MYCO, Inc., the operator of the well.

Delta expects to participate in the drilling of at least two more wells in the East Carlsbad Field this
year.

Ponderosa Prospect - Harding County, South Dakota

Delta will begin drilling operations this week on its Ponderosa Prospect and will drill four 1,500 ft. wells
in succession. The wells will test potential gas production from the Eagle/Shannon Formation. Delta
should have further information regarding the wells within about thirty days.

ich glaube, Du irrst dich hier im Sektor. Delta ist Oel und Gas und nicht High-Tech oder .com. Mit dem Oel sprudeln die Gewinne. Der Bulle ist in diesem Sektor alive and kicking. Das 3.Quartal duerfte das 2.Quartal noch uebertreffen.
