Vor einiger Zeit haben Newmont und Rare Earth Resources (RES.V) eine Allianz gegründet, die es in sich hat. Aber lest selbst:

      Newmont and RER form alliance

China has long dominated the market for rare-earth elements, which, in the case of the United States, is valued at more than US$1 billion. That could change if Rare Element Resources is successful in its hunt for rare earth elements in the Bear Lodge Mountains of Wyoming.

In the meantime, the junior has teamed with Newmont Mining to explore for gold on the same property. Under the terms of the newly formed joint venture, Newmont can earn a 65% working interest in the juniors Bear Lodge property, excluding rights to rare-earth elements and uranium, by spending at least US$5 million on exploration over five years. The senior gold company can boost this to 80% by completing a feasibility study.

The property hosts both gold and rareearth-element mineralization. A report published by the U.S. Geological Survey states that the property hosts North America’s largest disseminated rare-earthelement occurrence. Rare Element Resources notes that its property covers the most significant of the semineralized areas.

President William Bird adds that the company’s goal is to be an American producer of rare-earth elements used in many technologies, including nickel-metal-hybrid batteries, and the motors, generators and batteries used in hybrid cars.

Gute Zusammenfassung im Stockhouse Forum zu RES:

      http://www.stockhouse.ca/bullboards/viewmessage.asp?no=11920…

      --------------------------------------------------------------
[1] MARKET CAP: Company valued at approx US$10 Million [US$0.48 with 21 Million full-diluted shares on 1/31/06. "Dooshy-type" float with high level of closely held shares and "long-term" believers/holders dedicated RES shareholders.
      --------------------------------------------------------------
      [2] HIGH-QUALITY AND ACCOMPLISHED MANAGEMENT & BOARD: Includes Pres. Bill Bird, 37 years geological/corporate experience, who helped Intl Taurus acquire and/or early development of Fenelon, Martinaiere, and Taurus gold properties for American Bonanza Gold. Three very prospective properties that are just now starting to hit the radar screen of Gold investors. Graduate of Colorado School of Mines. Others;

Mark Brown, Pres/Pacific Opportunity Capital Ltd
      Robert Quartermain, CEO/Silver Standard Resources
      M. Norman Anderson, retired-CEO/Cominco,Inc

David Beling Director. Graduate University of Arizona. Registered Professional Mining Engineer. Examined/Involved 200 mines and 158 mineral processing plants worldwide.Phelps-Dodge, Union Oil, Westinghouse, United Technologies and Fluor Corp.
      --------------------------------------------------------------
[3] PROPERTY: Bear Lodge property [6 sq. miles], just outside of Sundance in NE Wyoming on the I-90 corridor. 20 miles W of the Homestake Mine in the Black Hills. The Bear Lodge property has been owned by Hecla, Phelps Dodge, Newmont, FMC and others but has never been extensively explored particularly at depth.
      --------------------------------------------------------------
[4]REE's: Deposits at Bear Lodge include some of the more valuable rare-earth elements, such as Lanthanum, Cerium, Praeseodymium, Neodymium and Gadolinium. Gadolinium grades, in particular, appear to be some of the highest in the world [view #43-101 report].
      --------------------------------------------------------------
[5]DOMESTIC MARKET & SUPPLY/DEMAND: Market for Rare Earths in the U.S.alone exceeds $1 Billion/year and is growing rapidly. 75% of supply to fill U.S. needs coming from China. Strong supply deficit ramifications with new uses which could strain supply.

According to data from US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY [1983][USGS Prof. Paper #1049-D], "The Bear Lodge area contains the LARGEST KNOWN DEPOSIT of dessiminated Rare-Earth elements [REE's]in North America."
      --------------------------------------------------------------
[6] LANTHANUM DEVELOPING MARKET: The high oil price is leading to robust growth in popularity of fuel-efficient hybrid cars in North America. MOTOR TREND’s 2004 "Car of the Year", the hybrid Toyota Prius requires between 20 kilograms and 44 pounds of Lanthanum. Toyota is building a US hybrid car plant and planning to increase total production to 100,000 vehicles. Hybrid cars could put more than one REE including Lanthanum into "supply deficit", if the Prius and other hybrid's become popular.
      ---------------------------------------------------------------
      [7] COMMERCIAL USES FOR RARE EARTH'S [REE's]:
      --nickel-metal-hydride batteries
--motors, generators and batteries used in hybrid cars
--REEs are used in high-tech consumer products, including TVs, computers, cell phones, DVD players, digital cameras etc.
--catalysts in industrial processes such as gasoline refining, fluorescent lights, certain medical imaging equipment, MRI machines.
      -- ceramics, camara lenses.
-- incorporated into alloys to improve the efficiency of magnets and coils in electric motors
      ---------------------------------------------------------------
[8] PRODUCER'S DREAM: Value of the metals in most of the products is inconsequential with regard to the total value of the finished product. So if prices of REE's escalate, there shouldn't be a significant drop in demand in most applications.
      ---------------------------------------------------------------
[9]There are few opportunities in North America for a Cripple Creek-sized gold district, but Bear Lodge showed enough potential that Newmont and RES are pursuing a joint venture that might lead to something significant. They have hauled 22 million ounces of gold out of Cripple Creek, Colorado with at least another 6 million ounces in reserve. Says CEO Bill Bird, “The Bear Lodge property has a well documented, hydrothermally altered and mineralized system with rock types, minerals and structures that match major features of the alkaline-igneous gold exploration model as it is expressed at Cripple Creek.” Past exploration efforts paid little attention to the Bear Lodge potential for the deeper seated, high-grade gold deposits targeted targeted by this model. We have an excellent gold- exploration project that is essentially untested.”
      ---------------------------------------------------------------
[10] Work done in the 1990’s by Hecla estimated a 3.8% rare-earth resource of 4.3 million tons in three carbonatite dike swarms. (That work is pre-#43-101, and as such needs to be verified before it can be relied upon.

According to Ellsworth Dickson, writing in Resource World Magazine, "The president of Toyota says the hoped-for market penetration of the Prius would result in a 10-fold increase in rare earth consumption from just this one application.Several other vehicle manufacturers are planning to introduce hybrids as well. Another automotive development for the near future is the conversion from the 12-volt electrical systems to 42 volts to accommodate increased demand for electricity. Again, this is being made possible by utilizing nickel-rare earth-hydride batteries. Since some 80% of lead usage is destined for lead-acid vehicle batteries, the future demand for rare earth batteries will be substantial."
      ---------------------------------------------------------------
[11] RECOMMENDATIONS/INVESTMENTS: 4Q20005 BUY RECOMMENDATION from RESOURCE OPPORTUNITIES [Lawrence Roulston] and GOLD MINING STOCKS [Editor/Coach Bob Bishop] has taken a position in RES. Also, recommended be Brien Lundin of The Gold Letter.

Rare Element Resources Hires European Investment Relations Firm
      09:30 EDT Friday, May 19, 2006

      TSX-V: RES

VANCOUVER, May 19 /CNW/ - Rare Element Resources Ltd (TSX-V:RES) announces that it has contracted for the services of Mr Pascal Geraths Gesellschaft Fur Presse - Und Offentlichkeitsarbeit MBH, Company No. 261358A ("PGGPO") of Salzburg, Austria, to implement the Company's European corporate finance, public awareness and investor relations program in Europe. PGGPO was hired effective 10 May 2006, and will be paid (euro) 7,500 per month for a period of six months. The Company will grant 250,000 stock options exercisable at $0.55 per share to Mr Geraths, the principal of PGGPO. PGGPO is a consulting firm located in Salzburg, Austria. Both PGGPO and Mr Geraths are at arm's length with the Company.

Rare Element Resources Ltd (TSX-V:RES) is a publicly traded mineral- resource company focused on gold, strategic metals and rare-earth elements (REE's). REE's, which have been called the "catalysts for high-tech living," are required for many new technologies, including nickel-metal-hydride batteries and the motors, generators and batteries used in hybrid cars. The US market for REE's exceeds US$1 billion, with most supplied by China. US Geological Survey Professional Paper 1049D states that Wyoming's Bear Lodge Mountains host North America's largest disseminated REE occurrence. Rare Element Resources' Bear Lodge property covers the more significant of these mineralized areas and it is the Company's goal to become an important North American source of REE's.

Rare Element Resources and Newmont North America Exploration Limited, a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation (Newmont), have agreed to terms that will establish a gold-exploration venture on the Company's Bear Lodge property. Under the term sheet, Newmont would have the right to earn a 65% working interest in Rare Element Resources' Bear Lodge property, excluding any rights to the rare-earth elements and uranium but including rights to gold and other metals by performing US$5 million in property work expenditures over a five-year period. Newmont would also have the right to earn an additional 15% working interest by completing a positive project feasibility study. The parties will now work together to complete a definitive agreement, which will reflect the agreed-upon terms. The present terms and the resulting definitive agreement are subject to approval by the TSX Venture Exchange and all other appropriate regulatory agencies.

The Bear Lodge property exposes the upper levels of a mineralized alkaline-igneous intrusive complex. Previous gold exploration has identified numerous gold geochemical anomalies and gold occurrences in intrusive breccia bodies. The Newmont gold-exploration venture provides Rare Element Resources with further options to build a strong company and to advance its programs to evaluate both the gold and REE's of the Bear Lodge property.

Newmont & Rare Element Resources Sign Final Definitive Agreement for Gold-Exploration Venture at Bear Lodge, Wyoming

      TSX-V: RES

VANCOUVER, Jun 8, 2006 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) --

Rare Element Resources Ltd (Rare Element Resources or the Company) announces that, effective 01 June 2006, its wholly owned subsidiary, Paso Rico (USA), Inc, and Newmont North America Exploration Limited, a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation (Newmont), have signed a final definitive Agreement that will establish a gold-exploration venture on Rare Element Resources' property near Sundance, Wyoming (the Venture).

Venture Agreement - Under the terms of the Agreement, Newmont has the right to earn a 65% participating interest in the Company's Bear Lodge property, excluding any rights to the rare-earth elements and uranium but including rights to gold and other metals, by performing US$5 million in exploration expenditures over a five-year period. This includes a first-year commitment of US$500,000. Newmont will operate the Venture's gold-exploration program during the earn-in period and will continue to do so thereafter, if it completes the earn-in requirements. Rare Element Resources will continue to operate its rare-earth-element exploration program; however, if the two exploration programs conflict, the Venture, under Newmont's operatorship, may operate both programs.

After the earn-in period, the Venture will continue exploration and, if warranted, development of the property. Newmont has the right to earn an additional 15% participating interest by completing a positive project feasibility study. If Rare Element Resources' interest is reduced to 20% for any reason, the Company shall have a financing option by which it may elect for Newmont to carry the Rare Element Resources' share of Venture expenditures, without further dilution to the Company, until commencement of mining on the property. The funds advanced by Newmont under the financing option, plus interest at LIBOR plus 3%, shall be recouped from 90% of Rare Element Resources' portion of proceeds from production. The definitive Agreement is subject to approval by the TSX Venture Exchange and all other appropriate regulatory agencies.

The Venture anticipates a mid-summer startup of gold-exploration activity on Rare Element Resources' Bear Lodge property. In preparation for the startup, the parties have identified an adjoining area of interest. To cover this area, Newmont has staked an additional 116 Federal lode mineral claims, which are included as part of the Venture's property.
