      HOMEX - Perth

      +++++++++++++++++++++++++
      MEDIA RELEASE

AOL TO LAUNCH VALUE-ADDED APPLICATIONS AS ONLINE RECOGNITION GROWS
NEW-LOOK SITE & NATIONAL CONSUMER MARKETING CAMPAIGN TO BE LAUNCHED

Aussie Online Limited (ASX: AOL) will soon launch a range of
value-added applications on its online business and real estate
directories, including `e-tailing` and e-commerce functions,
following the release of a new-look site and a national consumer
      marketing campaign later this month.

AOL`s Managing Director, Mr Peter Youd, said the consumer marketing
push followed a successful national sales and marketing campaign
which has resulted in strongly increased market recognition of AOL`s
flagship aussie.com.au business directory site amongst both
      businesses and consumers.

Website traffic has grown from 350,000 in November 1999 to millions
of hits in June 2000. Brand awareness in WA amongst small-medium
sized businesses has grown from 18.9% in January 2000 to 40% in June
2000. As at April 2000, 42.7% of households sampled are aware of
      aussie.com.au - representing a massive increase from December 1999
when the figure was just 5.2%.

Mr Youd said the new-look site, with improved navigation and
functionality, had been designed following extensive market research
including consumer focus groups with Red Sheriff (formerly IMR):

"With the opening of our Queensland operation and the imminent
opening of our New South Wales operations, we are looking forward to
significantly increased revenue flows from the various portals," Mr
      Youd said.

"We are also continuing to evaluate new technology solutions to add
value to the aussie.com.au website," he added. "Businesses will soon
be able to commence e-tailing from their directory listing on
      aussie.com.au."

"Our short-to-medium term plan is to evaluate WAP and SMS facilities,
form strategic alliances with suitable partners and reduce media
spending once acceptable awareness levels have been reached
      Australia-wide," he added.

The portals operated by AOL are backed by a vertically integrated
sales and marketing structure. The national business directory
aussie.com.au offers free listings, generating its revenue by
offering clients priority positioning and template-based web sites.

aussie.com.au was amongst the first directories of its kind in
Australia, having been established in 1995. Today aussie.com.au
indexes approximately 1.3 million Australian businesses and receives
      millions of hits per month.

Its competitive advantage tests on its ability to offer Australian
business the facility to remotely update or amend their contact
details via the Web, guaranteeing the end-user the most accurate and
      up-to-date information.

A company`s free listing on aussie.com au may include its company
name, address, phone numbers, fax numbers, mobile phone numbers, toll
free numbers, contact names, links to email and web addresses.

Mr Youd said AOL was well advanced in discussions with a number of
potential strategic alliances and partnerships which would
significantly increase the aussie.com.au product range and further
      enhance its national presence.

      Meldung auf escoop.com.au vom 3.Oktober 2000:
Aussie Online looks for AAPT connection 15:04

MELBOURNE (eScoop) - Aussie Online (AOL) is on the verge of signing a
big deal with AAPT (AAP), but don`t mention the word `marketing`.

News of the negotiations did little for either company, Aussie down 0.2c to 8.2c and AAPT steady at $7.12.

Aussie was tight-lipped about the deal, which will give AAPT access to the addresses, phone numbers and other publicly-available information regarding 1.2 mln Australian businesses.

Aussie`s managing director Peter Youd (as in `you`d` never believe it - we`re actually going to make some money!), told eScoop the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with AAPT, and expects to finalise the deal within four or five weeks.

He would not reveal the value or nature of the proposed deal, but said it will be "a more comprehensive arrangement than Aussie Online has had with anyone else".

"It clearly gives us a fair bit of credibility, because AAPT is the third largest telecommunications company in Australia," he added, saying it will challenge rivals Yellow Pages and Big Colour Pages` dominance in the business directories market.

Marketing manager Michael Field said the discussions with AAPT concern"an entirely unique project", but was quick to stress the company does not support spam and other nuisance marketing tactics.

"I just want to make it clear that Aussie Online does not, has not and never intends to provide our database to a third party for marketing purposes," he said.

So if AAPT won`t be using the database for marketing purposes, what will it be using it for?

Field was evasive, saying it will use it for "content", which is obvious, but he wasn`t going to be bullied into a more specific answer.

"It would be easier to talk about this over a beer," he laughed, saying he couldn`t comment any further on the record.

eScoop will get back to you once more is revealed - for now it`s off to the pub where the real juice flows freely.

Aussie Online startet am 12.10.00 mit neuen OUTFIT.

      YOU SPOKE - WE LISTENED!

In August this year aussie.com.au conducted market research focus groups with Red Sheriff. The key objective of the research was to test the appeal of the site and to understand, from a users perspective, satisfaction with the aussie.com.au site and to identify any areas for improvement.

You asked for simpler search functions, easy to understand graphics, easier navigation, a little more colour and more branding of aussie.com.au.

On October 12th the new look, new feel aussie.com.au will be launched. It is easy to navigate, really clean and simple to look at and most importantly, now has more features and more data than ever before.

aussie.com.au is Australia`s leading online business directory, with over 1.2m Australian businesses listed and receiving approximately 3 million hits per month. There are over 40,000 e-mails and web addresses on the directory.

The directory provides far more details on contact information for Australian businesses for free than is available on other directories. In addition free hot links to e-mail addresses and web addresses makes the directory far more useful for online users.

We will continue to develop features that will ensure that we maintain our position as Australia`s leading online business directory. If you have any comments or suggestions on how we can improve the aussie.com.au site, or our service to you, please email customerservice@corp.aussie.com.au

      Unter WWW.aussie.com.au ( NEW LOOK ) nachlesbar.

Wer ja nicht schlecht, wenn das den Kurs auch wieder etwas beflügeln würde.

      Gruß
