VANCOUVER, Oct. 30 /CNW/ - Fronteer Development Group Inc. (FRG - Toronto Stock Exchange, FRR - Frankfurt Stock Exchange) and NW Mineral Ventures are pleased to announce the expansion of their Olympic Dam Strategic Alliance to include two new properties in the NWT. The companies have reached the heads of agreements with Tyhee Development Corp on its Terra Silver Mine Property and Alberta Star Development Corp on its Longtom Property, whereby upcoming mineral exploration on these properties will be funded by NW Mineral Ventures.
These additional properties are subject to the terms and conditions of the Fronteer-NW Mineral Ventures agreement (see news release October 1, 2003) whereby NW Mineral Ventures can earn up to a 50% interest in the entire portfolio by spending an aggregate of $5.0 million on exploration over five years. Should NW Mineral Ventures vest its 50% interest, Fronteer will receive a 25% interest in the Terra Silver Mine and Longtom properties. Fronteer will be the operator of the programs during the earn-in phase. Fronteer`s entire portfolio now encompasses six properties covering approximately 40,000 acres of prospective ground.
Tyhee`s Terra Silver Mine Property
The Terra Silver Mine Property, situated immediately adjacent to Fronteer`s Conjuror Property, has an extensive history of silver exploration and mining that spanned approximately 20 years. The silver boom on the property was prompted in 1967 by the discovery of high grade silver and copper drill intersections that returned 5.2 m of 2.7% copper and 151.2 g/t (4.86 opt) silver. Thereafter, between 1976 and 1985, approximately 16.7 million ounces of silver were mined from three deposits on the property, at an average grade of 970.4 g/t (970.4 opt) silver. While famous for its high grade silver veins, these veins are hosted within spectacular assemblages of Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) style alteration and mineralization. Silver is an important component of IOCG deposits worldwide that can have average silver grades of up to 5g/t.
The prospectivity of the Terra Silver Mine Property has never been assessed for IOCG deposits. In order to evaluate the background levels of copper, gold and silver in the wallrock hosting high grade silver veins, Tyhee recently (June 2002) collected and re-assayed approximately 185 m of historical core representing intervals from 11 holes. Results were very encouraging, revealing extensive intervals of anomalous copper enrichment within halo style IOCG alteration including 33.5 m of 0.15% copper, 41.8 m of 0.03% copper, 4.6 m of 0.04% copper, 0.18 g/t gold and 1.5 g/t silver. No exploration has ever been carried out to identify higher grade bulk tonnage targets.
In addition, Tyhee recently assayed a number of select samples of high grade silver and copper mineralization from the vein systems on the Property. Specifically, samples from copper rich zones in the vein system returned values as high as 9.99% Cu, 0.44 g/t Au, 2,802 g/t Ag (90.1 opt) and 10,133 ppm Co. Samples from high grade silver veins returned values as high as 195,179 g/t Ag (6275 opt), 4.94% Cu, 0.274 g/t Au and 33,630 ppm Co. Results indicate a very strong correlation of Cu-Au-Ag-Bi-Co.
Alberta Star`s Longtom Property
The Longtom Property is located 50 km south of the Terra Silver Mine Property, and 160 km north of Fortune Minerals` NICO gold deposit. The property is centered over a 7.5 km long spatially coincident high-amplitude gravity and magnetic anomaly that also coincides with a suite of high quality IP targets.
A recent ten-hole diamond drill program undertaken by Alberta Star tested a number of widely spaced geophysical anomalies and confirmed the presence of a large underlying IOCG style alteration system with breccia hosted mineralization in concentrations that approach economically significant values. Highly anomalous polymetallic mineralization (copper, gold, silver, uranium, bismuth, REE), a signature of iron oxide hosted copper-gold deposits, was encountered in all ten holes.
The drilling program has greatly enhanced the Longtom Property database and has helped refine targeting criteria. Numerous outstanding high priority drill targets will be tested in the spring/summer (Phase 2) of 2004, when exploration on the property will resume.
Dr Rick Valenta Fronteer`s VP Exploration, will be managing the upcoming exploration programs in the NWT. Dr. Valenta will re-interpret the data for the Longtom and Terra Properties and select a series of new high priority targets for drill testing in 2004. Dr. Valenta is renowned for his global iron oxide copper gold experience, having studied and explored for these systems in Mt. Isa (Ernest Henry Mine), the Olary Block, Gawler Craton and Stuart Shelf (Olympic Dam), Tennant Creek, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, while working with MIM from 1995 to 2003.
IOCG deposits form an economically significant deposit class due to their large size (up to 2000 million tonnes) and polymetallic character (e.g., Cu, Au, U, Mo, Ag), yet they are under represented in Canada due to a lack of exploration attention. There is enormous untapped potential for this deposit type in Canada and this part of the NWT provides the ideal hunting ground for the next outstanding deposit within this class.
In addition to the agreement with NW Mineral Ventures, Fronteer has gold properties optioned to Placer Dome, Red Lake Resources and Alberta Star Mining Corp in the Red Lake - Birch Uchi Belt. Fronteer also has a significant land packages focused on the iron oxide copper gold potential of central Labrador through a 50-50 joint venture with Altius Minerals.

Das 1999 gegründete Unternehmen mit Firmensitz in Vancouver gehört zu den sogenannten „junior exploration companys“, aufstrebenden Explorationsgesellschaften, die noch am Anfang ihrer Entwicklung stehen. Dies bedeutet für den Anleger einerseits zwar ein höheres Risiko, auf der anderen Seite allerdings eine überproportionale Kurschance. Bei der in Frankfurt und an der Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) gelisteten Fronteer Development liegt der Fokus der Businessstrategie dabei auf der Akquisition von Gebieten, die nach vorhergehender Untersuchung für aussichtsreich erachtet werden. Über ein gewichtiges Wort bei der Akquisitionsentscheidung verfügt dabei der Präsident Mark O’Dea, der aufgrund seiner umfassenden Expertise über einen glänzenden Ruf in der Branche verfügt. Nach der Identifizierung sowie der Akquisition versucht Fronteer auch unter Zuhilfenahme von Drittunternehmen gezielt zu explorieren und zu erschließen. Der Schwerpunkt der kommenden Explorationstätigkeiten, für die eine ausreichende Kapitalbasis geschaffen wurde, liegt dabei auf Goldexplorationsgebieten im sogenannten Red Lake – Birch Uchi grennston belt in Ontario, Kanada. Charttechnische Einschätzung:
Nach schwächeren Kursen in der ersten Jahreshälfte, als die Aktie bei 0,30 USD ihr Jahrestief markierte, legte der Titel in den vergangenen vier Monaten deutlich zu. Charttechnisch von Bedeutung war dabei der endgültige und nachhaltige Ausbruch über die massive Widerstandslinie bei 0,55 USD. Nach dem Hoch bei 0,84 USD kam die Aktie bis knapp unter 0,70 USD zurück. Während der vergangenen Tage zeigt sich der Titel wieder fester und scheint nun das Jahreshoch bei 0,84 USD in Angriff zu nehmen. Gelingt es, diese Marke zu durchbrechen und damit den Aufwärtstrend fortzusetzen, ergibt sich ein Einstiegssignal, das von charttechnisch orientierten Anlegern zum Positionsaufbau genutzt werden könnte. Uneinheitlich zeigt sich der Wert von Indikatorenseite. Während der RSI aktuell im neutralen Bereich notiert, tendiert die Stochastik im überkauften Bereich weiter seitwärts. Aufgrund des spekulativen Charakters dieser Aktie legen wir Ihnen das Setzen einer Stopp-Loss-Marke nahe. Unter charttechnischen Gesichtspunkten bietet sich dabei ein Kurs knapp unter der alten Widerstandslinie bei 0,54 USD an, die nun als Unterstützung fungiert.
OBB-Fazit:
Mit seinen enormen Edelmetall- und Rohstoffvorkommen zählt Kanada zu den ressourcenreichsten Ländern der Welt. Dabei liegen die größten Wachstumschancen nach unserer Einschätzung vor allem bei den kleineren Explorationsunternehmen, die durch einen umfangreichen Fund ihren Wert in kurzer Zeit mehr als verdoppeln können. Mit den eingangs erwähnten Properties zählt Fronteer unserer Meinung nach dabei zu den interessantes junior exploration companys, bei der sich bereits nur ein Erfolg in einem der drei Gebiete schon in einer kräftigen Kursbewegung wiederspiegeln sollte. Positiv sehen wir in diesem Zusammenhang die Kooperation mit bekannten Unternehmen wie Placer Dome, der weltgrößten und renommiertesten Goldexplorationsfirma, wodurch sich das ohne Zweifel vorhandene Risiko deutlich reduziert. Zudem sind wir der Meinung, dass diese Partnerschaften und das Interesse etablierter Unternehmen eine Art Qualitätsmerkmal für die jeweiligen Gebiete darstellen. Auch die charttechnische Ausgangslage gestaltet sich durchwegs positiv, so dass auch von dieser Seite keine Störfaktoren zu erwarten sind. Dennoch sollten sich potenzielle Investoren bewusst sein, dass auch bei Fronteer die für eine "junior-company" typischen Risiken nicht unberücksichtigt bleiben sollten. Bleiben die erhofften Explorationserfolge auf Dauer aus, dürfte dies auch die Aktie negativ beeinflussen. Dieses Szenario halten wir aber für relativ unwahrscheinlich, da bereits sehr vielversprechende Testergebnisse Vorliegen, die auf umfangreiche Vorkommen hoffen lassen. Nicht zuletzt deshalb sehen wir bei der Fronteer-Aktie ein sehr vorteilhaftes Chance-Risiko-Verhältnis. Bei erfolgreichen Ergebnissen erachten wir deshalb unser Kursziel von 1,20 Euro lediglich als erste Zwischenetappe zu langfristig deutlich höheren Notierungen.

Fronteer Development Group Inc. (FRG - Toronto Stock Exchange, FRR - Frankfurt Stock Exchange) announced today that Oliver Lennox-King has accepted the position of non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Oliver Lennox-King brings 29 years of senior experience in the mining industry to this position. He has spent 7 years in marketing and administration with senior Canadian resource companies, followed by 11 years as a mining analyst with the brokerage community. He has spent the last 11 years in executive positions and directorships with junior mining companies.
Mr. Lennox-King is currently Chairman of Southern Cross Resources, a uranium exploration and development company. In addition, he serves on the Boards of a number of Canadian resource companies, including Southern Cross Resources, Metallica Resources, Tiomin Resources, and Dumont Nickel. Mr. Lennox-King, a key figure in the successful formation and development of several Canadian resource companies, was co-founder and Chairman of Pangea Goldfields as well as co-founder and President of Tiomin Resources.
Oliver Lennox-King replaces Hugh Snyder, who has held the position of Chairman since the Company`s inception in 1999. Fronteer Development Inc. und das Entwicklungsunternehmen Alberta Star gaben diese Woche bekannt, dass die Bohrungen auf dem Gebiet Dixie Lake eine hochgradige Gold-Mineralisation durchschnitten haben. Besonders positiv ist, dass die Gold-Mineralisation in allen zehn Bohrlöchern durchschnitten wurde. Zudem wurde ein Fünf-Meter-Intervall, das Gold enthielt, in einer Tiefe von 110 Metern durchschnitten, womit die vertikale Kontinuität und das Tiefenpotenzial dieses großen goldhaltigen Systems bestätigt wird. FRONTEER to commence three drill programs next month
Fronteer Development Group Inc. (FRG - Toronto Stock Exchange, FRR - Frankfurt Stock Exchange) is pleased to provide an update on its exploration activities in the Red Lake Belt of Ontario, the Bear Province of the Northwest Territories and the Central Mineral Belt of Labrador.
2004 will be an extremely active exploration year for Fronteer with over 11,000 metres of drilling scheduled on its gold and copper-gold-silver projects. Fronteer is the owner and operator on all of its properties. Over the next 12 months approximately $2.0 million in exploration will be funded by Fronteer’s partners.
Gold in the Red Lake Belt, Ontario
Dixie Lake Gold Project - A 3,000 metre deep drilling program is scheduled to commence in early February 2004 to test the down plunge extension of high grade gold mineralization. A 10 hole drill program completed in November, 2003 intersected 4.7 metres of 8.1 g/t gold including 3.0 metres of 10.6 g/t gold and 0.6 metres of 39.7 g/t gold. High grade gold mineralization is wide open at depth, and the property is considered to have the potential to host a > 500,000 ounce resource.
Swain-Sol D’Or Gold Project – A 3,000 metre drilling program is scheduled to commence mid-February, 2004 to further test a newly discovered 4 km long gold-bearing zone (Sol D’Or Gold Trend) that has high grade and large tonnage potential. Fronteer discovered this new zone in the summer of 2002 and drill tested a small segment of it in the spring of 2003 intersecting 6.0 metres of 2.0 g/t gold. This extensive gold-bearing target has represents a pristine and significant development in the Belt.
In addition to the Sol D’Or Gold Trend, a number of other drill-ready targets remain on the property including the Beaver Pond Showing which returned assays from surface grab samples of 55 g/t gold and 2.1% copper and the No. 7 Vein and Sol D’Or mine which returned historic grab values of 2.18 ounces gold per ton and an average grade of 0.56 ounces gold per ton respectively.
Birch-Uchi Gold Project – A 3,000 metre drilling program is scheduled to commence mid-February, 2004 to test Fronteer’s newest gold discovery with world class size potential. The target is approximately 3 km in length and 500 metres in width and has never before been drill tested. This target is extremely underexplored and represents an outstanding resource opportunity.
Copper-Gold-Silver in the Bear Province, NWT
Longtom IOCG Project – A 2,000 metre drill program is scheduled to commence mid-August to test a series of high quality coincident gravity and magnetic and IP anomalies that are part of a large Olympic-Dam-style mineralizing system that is over 7.5 km long. The Longtom Property is one of 3 IOCG properties in the Bear Province that will be the focus of extensive exploration during the summer of 2004.
Copper-Gold-Silver in the Central Mineral Belt, Labrador
Fronteer and Altius Minerals Corporation are jointly exploring several properties in the Central Mineral Belt of Labrador for “Olympic Dam-type” copper-gold-silver deposits. Extensive airborne geophysical surveys and detailed ground follow up programs will be carried out during the summer of 2004 and exploration targets will be “drill-ready” by September 2004.

· Alberta Star is earning a 50% interest in Fronteer’s Dixie Lake Gold Project by spending $2.0 million on exploration over 3 years. Fronteer is the operator.
· NW Mineral Ventures is earning a 50% interest in 6 of Fronteer’s properties in the NWT by spending $5.0 million over 5 years. Fronteer is the operator.

In addition to the Sol D’Or Gold Trend, a number of other drill-ready targets remain on the property including the Beaver Pond Showing which returned assays from surface grab samples of 55 g/t gold and 2.1% copper and the No. 7 Vein and Sol D’Or mine which returned historic grab values of 2.18 ounces gold per ton and an average grade of 0.56 ounces gold per ton respectively.
Birch-Uchi Gold Project – A 3,000 metre drilling program is scheduled to commence mid-February, 2004 to test Fronteer’s newest gold discovery with world class size potential. The target is approximately 3 km in length and 500 metres in width and has never before been drill tested. This target is extremely underexplored and represents an outstanding resource opportunity.
Copper-Gold-Silver in the Bear Province, NWT
Longtom IOCG Project – A 2,000 metre drill program is scheduled to commence mid-August to test a series of high quality coincident gravity and magnetic and IP anomalies that are part of a large Olympic-Dam-style mineralizing system that is over 7.5 km long. The Longtom Property is one of 3 IOCG properties in the Bear Province that will be the focus of extensive exploration during the summer of 2004.
Copper-Gold-Silver in the Central Mineral Belt, Labrador
Fronteer and Altius Minerals Corporation are jointly exploring several properties in the Central Mineral Belt of Labrador for “Olympic Dam-type” copper-gold-silver deposits. Extensive airborne geophysical surveys and detailed ground follow up programs will be carried out during the summer of 2004 and exploration targets will be “drill-ready” by September 2004.

Placer dome commits to $500,000 drill program on FRONTEER’s red lake project
Fronteer Development Group Inc. (FRG - Toronto Stock Exchange, FRR - Frankfurt Stock Exchange) is pleased to announce that Placer Dome has committed to a $500,000 drill program on one of Fronteer’s key properties in the Red Lake Belt. 2004 will be Fronteer’s second year with Placer Dome as an exploration partner. Under the terms of the Agreement with Fronteer, Placer Dome may earn a 65% interest in 2 of Fronteer’s Properties in the Belt by spending $2.5 million over five years. Fronteer is the operator.
The Drill Program
A 3,000 metre drilling program is scheduled to commence in early March, 2004 to test Fronteer’s newest gold discovery with world-class size potential. The target is approximately 3 km in length and 500 metres in width and has never before been drill tested. This target is completely underexplored and represents an exceptional resource opportunity. According to Fronteer’s VP Exploration Dr Rick Valenta, “This is an outstanding hosting structure with the strongest gold in till anomaly in the entire Red Lake Belt”.
The Target
Geochemical surveys over this new zone have revealed an impressive high grade gold footprint comparable in size and similar in structure to the nearby ‘mine trend’ in Red Lake which hosts over 17 million ounces of gold. The target area is poorly exposed and therefore, has never been prospected. Fronteer’s detailed aeromagnetic data has clearly mapped out the structures in the area and the MMI soil geochemistry indicates that they bear the signature of a Red Lake-style gold system. Fronteer’s glacial till samples from this new target area averaged 42 Gold Grains per sample. In comparison, till samples collected by the Geological Survey of Canada from the Madsen Mine area averaged 6.7 Gold Grains and samples from the Campbell-Red Lake mine area averaged 2 Gold Grains. The much higher till values obtained from Fronteer’s property indicate that extensive sources of gold were exposed at the time of glaciation and therefore, may be shallower drill targets than the original Campbell or Madsen orebodies.
Placer Dome is currently one of Fronteer’s largest outside shareholders holding 1,000,000 common shares, or approximately 5% of the Company. Fronteer is extremely pleased to have Placer Dome continue as an exploration partner for 2004. The company brings considerable expertise to the table with a strong history of exploration and development in the Belt. Placer Dome has produced over 10 million ounces of gold to date from its nearby Campbell Mine, which began production in 1949.
Fronteer is also pleased to announce that it has recently raised $616,609 through the exercise of warrants bringing its working capital to $3.5 million. The Company plans to continue its aggressive acquisition strategy on an international scale capitalizing on the strengths of its management team and Board of Directors.

Die Fronteer Development Group Inc. und die Alberta Star Development Corp. gaben am Dienstag bekannt, dass die Bohrungen am Dixie Lake in eine zweite Phase treten werden, nachdem erste Goldvorkommen nachgewiesen wurden.
Seit dem 1. Februar führt ein 40-köpfiges Team weitere Bohrungen in bis zu 3.000 Meter Tiefe durch. Ziel ist die Erforschung der Goldmineralisation, die im November in diesem Bereich gefunden wurde. Nach Einschätzung der Firmen lagern bis zu 15.000 kg Gold im Zielgebiet. Die erste Phase der Bohrungen haben bereits einen äußerst hohen Goldgehalt bestätigt.
Die Aktien von Fronteer Development notieren in New York mit einem Minus von 2,91 Prozent bei 1,00 Dollar.
