Im laufenden Quartal sollen die Umsätze um 2 bis 3 Prozent ansteigen, sagte Conexant Systems-Chef Dwight Decker. Dabei soll sich die Ertragssituation um 10 Prozent gegenüber dem aktuellen Berichtszeitraum verbessern. Die Nachfrage nach Chips für Telekommunikations-Equipment nehme zu, sagte er. Decker und andere Mitglieder des oberen Managments sind an einer besseren Entwicklung direkt interessiert. Sie bekommen erst dann wieder mehr Gehalt, wenn das Unternehmen zwei Quartale hintereinander profitabel arbeitet. Decker geht davon aus, dass die Gesellschaft irgendwann im zweiten Halbjahr beginnt, Gewinn abzuwerfen. Nach schon im vergangenen jahr vorgenommenen Entlassungen, sollen nun 150 bis 200 weitere Stellen gestrichen werden.
Conexant wird seine Sparte für Hochfrequenz-Kommunikationschips für Handys mit dem Wettbewerber Alpha Industries zusammenführen . Im abgelaufenen Jahr erlöste dieser Bereich 92,3 Mio. Dollar, 10 Prozent mehr als im Vorquartal. Die Produkte wurden unter anderem an Nokia, Motorola und Samsung verkauft. Man habe hier Marktanteile gewonnen, heißt es.
Das verbleibende Geschäft soll in zwei Teile aufgebrochen werden. Der eine kümmert sich dann um Chips für die Telekommunikations-Infrastruktur, der andere richtet sich auf Modem-Chips für Computer aus. In der Sparte Mindspeed Technologies, die Halbleiter für Internet-Equipment betreut, implodierten die Umsätze um 91 Prozent auf 14,2 Mio. Dollar im Jahresvergleich. Modem-Chips verkauften sich 23 Prozent schwächer und erlösten 123 Mio. Dollar.
Das Unternehmen hatte im vergangenen Jahr mehrfach bekräftigt, im Schlussquartal mehr umzusetzen als im Zeitraum Juli bis September. Dieses Versprechen wurde eingelöst. Der Zuwachs betrug mehr als 14 Prozent.
Die CNXT-Aktie steigt um 4,6 Prozent auf 13,16 Dollar. Der 52-Wochen-Bereich liegt zwischen 6,57 und 21,50 Dollar. Der Philadelphia-Semiconductor-Index sinkt um 0,4 Prozent auf 530 Punkte.

Weiß jemand, was mit Conexant in letzter Zeit los ist ? Es vergeht fast kein Tag, an dem die Aktie nicht einen 2-stelligen Prozentsatz verliert. Die werden am Ende doch nicht pleite gehen ?!?!

Alpha And Conexant Announce Plan
To Close Skyworks Merger Today
Woburn, Ma and Newport Beach, Ca, June 25, 2002 – – Alpha Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AHAA) and
Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNXT) announced today that they have filed the requisite documents
in the state of Delaware to effect the merger between Alpha and the wireless communications business
of Conexant, creating Skyworks Solutions, Inc. The merger is expected to become effective after the
close of business today. Skyworks’ common stock will begin trading tomorrow morning on the Nasdaq
Stock Market under the ticker symbol “SWKS.”
Under the terms of the transaction, Conexant shareholders of record as of June 25, 2002 will be entitled
to receive 0.351 of a share in the combined company and will continue to hold their existing Conexant
shares. Alpha shareholders will continue to hold their existing Alpha shares as shares in the combined
company.
Skyworks is scheduled to preside at the opening of the Nasdaq Stock Market on Wednesday, June 26,
2002 at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time (ET). The company will host an analyst briefing from 10:00 a.m. to noon
ET. Scheduled to speak will be Skyworks’ Chief Executive Officer David J. Aldrich and other members of
the senior management team.
Skyworks invites all interested parties to listen and view a live webcast of the company’s presentation
via the Investor Relations section of Skyworks’ website at www.skyworksinc.com or on
www.companyboardroom.com. Replays will be available until 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 3,

In the hardware sector, Lehman Brothers upgraded its rating on Conexant Systems (CNXT: news, chart, profile) to buy from market perform, dealers confirmed. "We believe the wireless business spin to Alpha will be one of the catalysts to drive valuation expansion," the broker told clients. The stock rose to $1.20 on Instinet in London from $1.09.
Lehman ups chips view, cuts HQ, INTC estimates (MU, ICST, CNXT, FCS, INTC, HPQ) By Emily Church
Lehman Brothers is upgrading its position on semiconductor stocks to market weight/slight overweight from underweight on valuation, telling clients "we believe now is the time to become more constructive on semiconductors." The broker raised Micron Technology (MU) and Integrated Circuit (ICST) to a strong buys from buys and Fairchild (FCS) and Conexant Systems (CXNT) to buys from market performs. "We anticipate adding more names to this list as the summer unfolds and estimates come down further along with stock prices," Lehman said. It expects IT spending to improve first in 2003, and said that as a result, it was cutting estimates for H-P (HPQ) and Intel Corp. (INTC) on Thursday s well "based on the still difficult IT demand environment and deteroriation in consumer PC demand leading to high PC channel inventory."

CNXT bringt die Wireless-Sparte ein in eine neue firma, und wir aktionäre erhalten dafür unsere anteile an SkyWorks im verhältnis von rd. 3:1. bis zur einbuchung aufs depot wirds wohl noch ne weile dauern, der SKWKs kurs liegt derzeit um die 5$.
