Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 24.155.170 von Zweiluder am 24.09.06 13:47:00NEW YORK, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Chip licensing company Rambus Inc. (RMBS.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Tuesday said a U.S. court has stayed a patent case filed against them by Hynix Semiconductor Inc. (000660.KS: Quote, Profile, Research) a few weeks after U.S. business regulators found Rambus had unlawfully monopolized the market for four memory chip technologies.
The District Court for the Northern District of California stayed the final stage of the case and said there could be a potential resolution of this case after the U.S. Federal Trade Commission sets royalty rates on SDRAM and DDR SDRAM, two types of memory chips, said Rambus' statement.
The case has been stayed until Feb. 2, 2007 or when the FTC issues its final order.
"The Court has expressed its view that the Commission's decision has increased the potential for a resolution of this case and the several other litigations between Rambus and various DRAM manufacturers," Robert Kramer, acting general counsel at Rambus, said in a statement.
In July, Rambus accepted lower damages in its case against Hynix for violating its patents on memory chips.
Rambus collects royalties it earns from licensing its technology to other companies and does not manufacture its own chips.
Separately, the company is fighting a possible delisting from Nasdaq after it failed to file its quarterly financial report on time. It has previously disclosed that its board had ordered an independent investigation to review the firm's handling of past stock options grants to executives.
