Pan American Silver Reports: Alamo Dorado Mine Construction Complete
VANCOUVER, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pan American Silver Corp. (Nachrichten) (PAAS: NASDAQ; PAA: TSX) is pleased to announce that ore is now being processed through the leaching circuit at its new Alamo Dorado open-pit silver mine located in the state of Sonora, Mexico. Construction is now complete, on schedule and virtually on the original feasibility budget. Pan American is presently focused on ramping up production to the plant's design capacity of 4,000 tonnes per day.
Development Highlights: - Mine development and plant construction accomplished on schedule in 19 months. - Capital cost of $79.9 million, in line with feasibility forecast. - Approximately 450,000 tonnes of ore grade material now mined and stockpiled ahead of the crushing plant. - Flawless safety record throughout construction, with zero lost time accidents reported for 1.8 million man hours and over 1,300 days logged.
Pan American Silver expects Alamo Dorado to contribute approximately 5.0 million ounces of silver and 12,000 ounces of gold per year over a projected mine life of 8 years. For the remainder of 2006, the mine is expected to add approximately 300,000 ounces of silver to the Company's consolidated production.
Commenting on the start-up of Pan American's newest silver mine, Geoff Burns, President&CEO said: "It is extremely gratifying to deliver on the commitments we made to our shareholders in February of 2005 when we announced our decision to proceed with the development and construction of the Alamo Dorado silver mine. On schedule and substantially on budget, Alamo Dorado will be a core low cost silver producer for Pan American for years to come. It is a testament to the skills of our project team and brings us a step closer to our targeted production of 25 million ounces of silver annually by 2008."

The Best Small Cap for 2007: Pan American Silver
By Todd Wenning
December 7, 2006
As fears of an inverted yield curve, a weakening dollar, and an economic slowdown mount, commodities are getting more attention.
Why, you ask? Well, for one thing, the performance of commodities in general, and precious metals in particular, has historically had a low correlation with the rest of the market, so the sector becomes more appealing in down markets.
But precious metals have also done well in the bull market of the past few years. Consider, for instance, that the Vanguard Precious Metals & Mining Fund has gained 36% per annum over the past five years and the streetTRACKS Gold Shares (NYSE: GLD) ETF, which roughly tracks the value of gold, is up 23% in the past 52 weeks.
The S&P 500, by comparison, is up roughly 6% per year over the past five years and 14% in the past year.
Silver spoons
Silver-mining stocks, as a group, have done particularly well -- up 49% in the past 52 weeks.
Among this group are:
Company
YTD Performance*
Silver Standard Resources (Nasdaq: SSRI)
100%
Hecla Mining (NYSE: HL)
83%
Silver Wheaton (NYSE: SLW)
99%
Apex Silver Mines (AMEX: SIL)
7%
Coeur d'Alene Mines (NYSE: CDE)
34%
*Data courtesy of Morningstar, as of Dec. 6, 2006.
As you can see, not all silver-mining stocks perform the same in a strong silver market.
So which one is the best for your portfolio?
One silver company that investors participating in Motley Fool CAPS, our new investing community service, are overwhelmingly bullish on is Pan American Silver (Nasdaq: PAAS). Fully 94% of CAPS investors who have rated the stock believe it will "outperform" the S&P 500 in the future. Follow this link to hear what the CAPS investors are saying about Pan American.
Now, perhaps some of the enthusiasm behind Pan American stems from Jim Cramer's endorsement on Mad Money earlier this year, but the stock has certainly performed nicely over the past year -- up 37% year-to-date.
Pan American performance has shown a strong correlation with the iShares Silver Trust ETF (SLV) since the ETF was released in April 2006, but expanding operating margins and strong revenue growth may help Pan American push well ahead of the silver-tracking ETF down the road.
And, being a small-cap company, Pan American naturally has more room to run than some of its larger cap counterparts.
Ag, there's a silver lining!
Precious metals stocks are inherently volatile, so tread carefully. Your time horizon and risk tolerance should be considered before jumping into the precious metals market. If you're nearing retirement, for example, and are generally conservative with your investments, you may want to stay away from this group altogether. For instance, the aforementioned Vanguard Precious Metals Fund was down every year between 1994 and 1998, and lost 40% in 1997 alone. Imagine if you had to sell this fund in 1997 to pay for retirement expenses and half of your investment was gone!
So, is Pan American Silver going to be the best small-cap investment of 2007? It's certainly possible if silver prices keep rising, but only time will tell.
What do you think? Make your voice heard on Motley Fool CAPS. Simply rate Pan American "outperform" or "underperform" versus the S&P 500. To get going, click here. Based on your thoughts, we'll declare the best small cap for 2007 early next week.

Mexikanische Silberproduktion gefallen

PAN AMERICAN SILVER PLANS RECORD EXPLORATION PROGRAM IN 2007
Vancouver, Canada – Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS: NASDAQ; PAA: TSX) has approved a record exploration program
for 2007 following outstanding results from its 2006 exploration drilling programs. During 2007, Pan American plans to conduct
over 100,000 meters of diamond drilling at its existing properties, with efforts focused primarily on the La Colorada, Morococha
and Huaron mines where results from 2006 indicated exceptional potential, as well as a more aggressive generative exploration
program.
Ross Beaty, Chairman of Pan American, stated, “2006 was our most successful year for exploration at our existing operations.
On-site exploration is a key component of Pan American’s growth strategy as the Company can derive benefit from new silver
discoveries which are extracted from producing mines with the necessary infrastructure in place. I am very excited about our
plans for 2007 and expect the record exploration drilling will translate into even larger silver reserves and resources, which are
the core assets of our Company.”
Morococha Mine(**): Morococha was the site of the Company’s most extensive exploration program in 2006, with over 57,000
meters drilled in 325 holes. More than 70% of these holes intersected economic silver-zinc mineralization, with the best results
from the Galera zone and the Buenaventura vein. The Galera zone is a newly discovered wide “manto” zone containing high
grade zinc and important silver, lead and copper grades. Buenaventura is a high grade silver vein with plus-1,000 g/t intercepts
in many holes drilled.
In 2007, the Company will drill over 40,000 meters at Morococha, focusing on expansion of reserves and resources of the main
producing areas: Yacumina, Manuelita, Codiciada, Sulfuric and Alapampa. In addition, a surface exploration program initiated
in 2006 has identified brand new targets that will also be drilled in 2007.
La Colorada Mine(**): Surface drilling on the property resulted in the discovery and delineation of the high grade Amolillo
oxide vein. A total of 3,846 meters in 26 holes were drilled on Amolillo throughout 2006 which confirmed high grade silver
mineralization over a 460 meter strike length. Mineralization is still open to the east and at depth. Development of Amolillo for
mining in 2007 has already commenced.
In 2007 the Company will also explore the potential for deep skarn mineralization below the primary high grade silver veins now
being mined. Deep drilling in this area in 1997-1998 encountered thick intercepts of polymetallic mineralization, such as holes
PIC 09, which intersected 34 meters grading 489 g/t silver, 2.54% zinc and 2.77% lead, and PIC 16, which intersected 70
meters grading 70 g/t silver, 3.56% zinc and 2.01% lead. With the La Colorada mine operating smoothly and providing much
better access to drilling of the deep targets, the Company will now explore this potential for large tonnage polymetallic
mineralization such as is being mined in a similar geological environment at the large-scale San Martin and Sabinas mines
located 25 km north of La Colorada. In 2007, Pan American intends to drill a total of 13,000 meters to test this deep skarn
target and Amolillo vein extensions.
Huaron Mine(**): Drilling in 2006 was focused on exploring silver veins at depth below the lowest existing workings at the
mine, the 250 level, and easily accessible zones that may be mined by low-cost bulk mining methods. A total of 11,755
meters was drilled in 87 holes, and significant new mineralization was discovered in the target areas. Drilling confirmed the
extension of known structures below the 250 level, including the Patrick vein, and the existence of disseminated ore bodies,
including the Halley ore body. Drilling in 2007 will continue this work.
Other Programs: In addition to mine-site exploration programs, Pan American will conduct greenfield exploration programs in
Mexico, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina on newly acquired properties and potential acquisition targets.
The objective and focus of the Company’s exploration programs is to materially add to the Company’s silver resources and
mining opportunities. The full results of the Company’s 2006 drilling programs will be incorporated into the year-end reserve and
resource estimate which is currently being prepared and will be released in late February.

Pan American Silver Pflichtinvestment
(Ausgabe 04) (18.01.2007/ac/a/a) Analyse-Datum: 18.01.2007

PAN AMERICAN SILVER ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Vancouver, British Columbia – Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS: NASDAQ; PAA: TSX) (the “Company“) today reports that
Ross Beaty, current Executive Chairman of the Company, will become Non-Executive Chairman effective at the Company’s
upcoming Annual General Meeting on April 30. At the same time, Director John Wright will retire from the board of directors of the
Company, but continue as special advisor. Mr. Robert Pirooz, who first joined Pan American in 1998 and currently serves as the
Company’s General Counsel and Secretary, will be nominated to fill the vacancy on the Board created by Mr. Wright’s retirement.
Mr. Beaty, who with John Wright founded Pan American as a silver company in 1994, said, “Pan American Silver is now recognized
as the pre-eminent silver mining company, and is in the best financial and operating condition ever. Our silver production, which set
a new record in 2006 at 13 million ounces, is set to double by 2009. Our financial condition, which also set records in 2006 for
earnings, cash flow and cash costs per ounce, will improve even more as our production grows. I am very pleased with the
Company’s growth, from an idea into a major silver mining company during John’s and my tenure. While I will remain actively
involved in the Company’s future as Chairman, it is time to step back from day-to-day management. Geoff Burns has demonstrated
his skill and leadership as President and CEO and the operating, development and financial team we have assembled is
outstanding.”
Geoff Burns, President and CEO, said “Although I will personally miss Ross’ guidance and leadership as Executive Chairman, I
know we have the team in place that will continue building Pan American Silver as the leading silver mining company. I respect
Ross’ wish to balance his work, family and philanthropic interests, and with his continued role as Chairman I will still be able to
draw on his experience and counsel when needed. Finally, I would also like to thank John for the years of sound advice he so often
provided to me and to Pan American as a Director.”
