      Ikihoyuk-1 gas testing in Turkey
Joint venture partners Otto Energy and Incremental Petroleum announce that the Ikihoyuk-1 well was flow tested on 23rd and 24th May. The well flowed dry gas at rates up to 3.8 MMscf/d gas over the interval 444m – 453m on a 38/64” inch choke.
This rate is the highest so far seen from Otto’s Edirne wells.

Wohl auch interessant Coal of Africa

      zumindest alles einen Blick wert!

(Natürlich für das Tenbagger Depot uninteressant - aber wen Kohle interessiert ...)

Coal to remain backbone of energy supply – IEA

Reuters reported that coal will remain the backbone of global energy supply for the next 25 years.

Mr Fatih Birol chief economist of the International Energy Agency while speaking at McCloskey's European conference in Nice said that the growth of energy demand especially in China and India will mean coal is an essential fuel. He said that "There are two critical problems energy security and climate change.”

Mr Birol said that "When I was in Davos in January the energy discussion was all about renewables, growth in MW. Soon after I was in Singapore and the discussion was all about coal and power generation, talked about in GW. It was like living on two different planets.”

He said that "Governments need to understand better the realities of the markets when setting climate change targets and to invest in better technology.”

Mr Birol said that China and India need coal to fuel their power generation growth needed by their rapidly expanding populations. He said “If CO2 emissions targets are to be met, according to targets set by the G8, global energy efficiency must triple every year from the 1% improvement a year seen over the last 10 years.”

He added that "We cannot expand power generation and meet energy demand growth without coal. But climate change is the Achilles heel of the coal community.”

ENRC to build railway line between Kazakhstan and China

Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation PLC, the holding company of a leading diversified natural resources group based in Kazakhstan, announced that ENRC Logistics has won the Kazakhstan State tender for the China Gateway Project.

The China Gateway Project will involve the construction of approximately 300 kilometers of railway in South-East Kazakhstan, which ENRC will subsequently operate.

      1. A single track railroad will be constructed between Zhetigen in the Republic of Kazakhstan and Khorgos on the Kazakhstan-Chinese border.

      2. Four intermediate stations, ten intersections, and a loading complex will also be built as part of the project.

Mr Johannes Sittard CEO of ENRC said “We are proud to be involved in this great project. The new railway will facilitate the increase in cargo carried between Kazakhstan and China by up to 30 million tonnes per annum. It will provide ENRC’s operations with an additional secure transportation route and with an increased capacity for products to be sold into the growing Chinese market.”

The USD 900 million capital expenditure projects will be the largest ever private investment in Kazakhstan’s transport infrastructure. Construction will begin later this year and it is envisaged that the railway will commence operations in 2012. ENRC’s concession to operate the railway will run until 2036. The realization of the project will enable ENRC to improve the delivery of its products to customers in China, diversify the activities of ENRC Logistics and enhance profitability by offering services to third parties.
