New attack, aimed at maximum impact

mca-mathematik, a website operated by short sellers according to its disclaimer,
spread the news on Friday that Al Alam, one of Wirecard's three main TPAs, closed
offices, suggesting material damage. In fact all business was transferred to other
companies in other jurisdictions, with no disruption/ fundamental impact. Auditors EY
and KPMG had been pre-informed. The shares trade at an excessive discount based
on deficiencies identified by KPMG and major change is happening – we see a strong
buying opportunity.

Al Alam office closure

The Wirecard shares took a hit on Friday after mca-mathematik sent around an email saying
that Al Alam, one of three TPA partners of Wirecard, "closed down this Monday". mca added
that Al Alam was one of three TPAs that, "according to KPMG, 'generated the lion's share of the
consolidated EBIT' at Wirecard", suggesting that the closing results in a major loss of business.

No fundamental impact, auditors were informed

Wirecard later confirmed that Al Alam closed its Dubai office due to reputational damage from
public allegations. Business was hence transferred to other jurisdictions. Since all transactions
are now hosted on Wirecard's elastic engine end-to-end, the transfer led to no disruptions.
According to Wirecard's CFO, group auditor EY and also KPMG had been made aware of the
change beforehand. The transfer should hence be of no impact.

Myth #1: Al Alam ‘generates’ profit

mca-mathematik said: "KPMG stated that the 3 TPAs generated "the lion's share of the
consolidated EBIT"". In reality KPMG said that "the EBIT generated via these Wirecard
companies...accounted for the lion's share of the consolidated EBIT" (p. 15). This is an
important difference: not the TPAs generate profit but actual merchants of Wirecard do,
connected through TPA licenses.

Myth #2: The “missing” billion

mca-mathematik further tweeted that “First Trustee 1 disappears with €1bn of cash and is
unreachable, then TPA1 shuts down.“ This again misrepresents the facts: KPMG confirmed
that it received scans of the bank confirmations of the group auditor, validating a) the funds,
b) Wirecard being the beneficial owner. It noted that it could not yet pick up direct bank
confirmations itself yet due to C-19-related restrictions (see p. 23 of the KPMG report). This
is significantly different from saying that €1bn are "missing". We expect KPMG to forensically
validate the funds in due course.

Buy unchanged

We stick to our view: The stock carries an excessive discount based on the deficiencies
identified by KPMG, remedied since 2018. This and ongoing organisational challenges will
strengthen the company over time – we see a major buying opportunity. We will update our
numbers after the final report on 4 June, awaiting additional input on timing of new client
onboardings/ AllScore closing. Our current working model points towards c. 20% top line
growth this year and acceleration in 2021.

Hat eigentlich die FT schon gemeldet, daß WDI jetzt fett den Fuß in der Tür zum Gaming-Markt hat? In FT Manier sollte man eine entsprechend griffige Úberschrift erwarten, wie z.B. WDI mit gigantischem Potential durch Gaming-Koop oder so ähnlich...aber die FT sucht wahrscheinlich immer noch fieberhaft das Haar in der Suppe ;-)
