ANTON SARTA's planned fleet of fuel cell buses will be growing.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration awarded the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority another $4 million to buy three additional zero-emission fuel cell buses, according to a release sent out Friday by Sen. Sherrod Brown's office.
Fuel-cell buses turn hydrogen into electricity. The only emission is water.
SARTA has planned to have a fleet of seven such buses by the end of 2017. The additional funds will bump that number to 10.
"We'll be the largest fuel cell fleet in the country outside of California," said SARTA CEO Kirt Conrad.
In January, SARTA broke ground on a hydrogen station in front of its Gateway Boulevard SE headquarters and expects to begin construction in May.
Next week, SARTA will unveil the first of its hydrogen fuel cell-powered buses at the Ohio Statehouse to be operated on the Ohio State University’s campus as part of a technology demonstration project.
“This investment is further proof that Stark County is a national leader in innovative transportation options that get Ohioans to work or school, while helping to reduce emissions,” Brown said in a news release. “With this funding, SARTA will be able to expand its growing fleet of zero-emission buses and help reduce emissions in public transportation.”
The three new fuel-cell buses will replace existing diesel buses and should be on the road by the summer of 2018, Conrad said.
"Not only is it benefiting air quality and emissions, but we're starting to see spin-off effects of attracting companies that want to make investments here in the fuel cell industry, especially as Toyota and Honda start rolling out their fuel cell vehicles that are being deployed across the world," Conrad said.
Zitat von necar5: Na also! :-)

Automotive industry to reduce costs of hydrogen production: By advancing the energy transition
...http://www.fotcp.com/fot/automotive-industry-to-reduce-costs…
H2-Tankstellen in Californien
...The Energy Commission has provided funding for 49 stations. It is working to ensure as many of them as possible are open by the end of 2016 with plans to fund up to 100 for the initial introduction of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles in the California marketplace.
...
California requires at least 33 percent of the hydrogen used by fuel cell cars to be from renewable energy sources. Some stations will dispense 100 percent renewable hydrogen. Hydrogen refueling stations and vehicles are safe. They have been around for at least 20 years, supporting transit buses.
With transportation responsible for 40 percent of California’s greenhouse gases, zero-emission cars, such as hydrogen fuel cell electric cars, can help California reach its climate change goals and reduce air pollution. That’s why the Energy Commission is funding hydrogen refueling stations and electric vehicle chargers.

Was meint Ihr so, in welche anderen Werte sollte ich investieren?
Plug, Fcell, HYGS, HYSR, Intell.
