MDI and Palmer Electric Team to Secure the United States Air Force Academy
Monday May 22, 2:55 pm ET
Palmer Electric and NETCENTS Contractor Multimax Inc. Land Base-Wide Engagement Highlighting MDI Unified Security Solution

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2006--MDI Security Systems, a division of MDI Inc. (NASDAQ:MDII - News) and leading manufacturer of unified security software, hardware and video solutions, today announced that it has been chosen by Palmer Electric Inc. and Electro-Tech Inc. of Colorado Springs, CO., to provide Unified Security Solutions to the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). Palmer Electric (Palmer) contracts under Multimax Inc., one of four small business contractors under the NETCENTS Network-Centric Information Technology contract.

NETCENTS is a five-year, $9 billion, IDIQ (Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity) contract that was established to provide Air Force (at all levels), Department of Defense and other Federal Agencies a primary source of networking equipment/product supply and systems engineering, installation, integration, operations, and maintenance services.

With a reputation for providing superior quality and customer service and an extensive history in providing solutions to military customers, Palmer has been working with the Air Force in the Colorado Springs area for over 20 years. In addition to the USAFA, their customers include Fort Carson Army Base, Cheyenne Mountain Air Station (NORAD), Schriever Air Force Base and Buckley Air Force Base.

"We researched many manufacturers for this project and SAFEnet, built on ONE Unified Technology from MDI, offered exactly what the Air Force Academy needed -- a state-of-the-art open architecture command and control solution that\'s easy to customize and that offers unlimited expansion capabilities," said Cary Gulsby, Access Control Project Manager at Palmer Electric. "There is no stronger unified access control product available on the planet that can match MDI\'s seamless integration capabilities. MDI\'s sales support function, superior engineering team and third-generation unified technology gave us the competitive edge to win the Air Force Academy contract. Our plan is to exclusively utilize SAFEnet and the entire MDI product line as the foundation for all of our existing and future integrated system projects," he added.

The MDI solution will replace the USAFA\'s current integrated system, which was not capable of meeting their current and future comprehensive security requirements.

"We are proud to be partnering with the Palmer team on this state-of-the-art integrated systems project," stated J. Collier Sparks, President and CEO of MDI Inc. "Critical security projects such as these truly validate MDI\'s ONE Unified Technology platform as the most innovative third-generation solution in the industry with the highest investment value to the customer. Coupled with Palmer\'s customer-centric business model, the USAFA could not have chosen a better team to replace their second-generation solution," he added.

MDI Reports 38% Year-Over-Year Quarterly Revenue Growth; Quarterly Revenue in Line with Forecast as Losses Narrow and Gross Profit Margins Improve to 54%

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2006--MDI, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDII) today announced financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2006.

Total revenue for the first quarter 2006 was $2.7 million, representing a 38 percent increase over the first quarter of 2005.

Gross profit margins during the three months ended March 31, 2006 increased to 54% compared to 51% for the first quarter of 2005.

Operating expenses excluding non cash stock compensation expenses have remained the same year-over-year and the Company believes that by maintaining their current cost control structure, they will continue to operate at the current levels for the remainder of 2006.

For the three months ended March 31, 2006, net losses decreased by 20 percent from the first quarter 2005.

      J. Collier Sparks, President and CEO stated, "MDI continues to build on its fundamental strengths while diversifying its lines of business to meet the emerging needs of the security market. Our continuing revenue growth and operating loss reductions are strong evidence that this strategy is working. Our formidable presence in the enterprise IP security market, our ability to rapidly expand into additional markets, and our diversified product offerings assisted us in delivering improved results. We look forward to increasing this momentum throughout the remainder of the year as MDI\'s diversified sales divisions and new business units, which were not a revenue factor in 2005, begin to generate additional revenue to our sales from continuing business."

Mr. Sparks continued, "Two of the new business units that did not exist in 2005 are the recently acquired Advanced Security Link (ASL) and our Global Systems Solutions (GSS) professional services division. We are very pleased with the contributions that ASL has made to our growth. ASL revenue for the first quarter was on target and its revenue for April exceeded target. ASL\'s unified video security offering is now part of the award winning ONE(TM) platform, which positions us to deliver the most sophisticated open architecture command and control operating system in the security industry.

Global Systems Solutions was founded to capitalize on the growing number of large global security projects in both the government and commercial sector and we are expecting great things from them in 2006. GSS provides engineering, program and project management services. In recent months, they have partnered with some of the nation\'s most prominent government and defense contractors to deliver these services to a worldwide integrated security market. GSS provides incredible product sales opportunities to MDI and opens the door to a new channel of government and corporate funded homeland security business in countries across the globe, including the Middle East and Pacific Rim. These projects are modeling their security programs after those implemented by the United States, giving MDI a competitive advantage based on its historical successes as a pioneer in the high security US government market.

To date, we have identified numerous GSS projects representing approximately $400 million in total revenue opportunities for the Company ranging in value from $2.7 million to $67 million each. We are actively working on several deals that could bring over $15 million in revenue to the Company and we are hopeful that we will close at least $6.6 million of that this year."

"ONE is the premier technology in the security industry and these prestigious awards validate that," stated Tim Rohrbach, Vice President and Chief Information Officer for MDI. "We spoke to many of the Judges, publishers and industry professionals after the awards ceremony at ISC West, and we learned that MDI is the only company with the technology to unify security point products, systems and subsystems into a common management platform. Plus, we have over 25 years of experience in providing network security systems for the Federal Government. Because of what we have learned over those 25 years, we have become the standard for high-security enterprise solutions. When you combine our years of experience with the Federal Government and our open architecture command and control operating system, the ONE C2OS has no competitors."

Future Demand for Integrated Security Systems

Over the past several years, there has been a major shift towards integrating access control systems into the total security system. In its 2005 Security Industry Annual Report, Lehman Brothers states that 50 percent of all access control systems are being installed as part of an integrated security system, which are projected to provide 10 percent industry growth levels for the next two years, fueled by upgrades and homeland security initiatives. Lehman Brothers believes the integrated access control market will be $5 billion in 2006.

"MDI is far ahead of our competition in providing a unified security platform," said Jim Lowder, Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer. "Today\'s acceptance of IP and network-based solutions in our industry has finally brought the market and the capabilities of MDI together. ONE is the perfect solution for organizations that are looking to get the most from their integration projects. Last week, experts from the industry\'s most highly respected organization (SIA) officially recognized that. I am certain that the thousands of security professionals that visited our booth during ISC West for a demonstration recognized that as well," he added.

      About the Security Industry Association

Formed in 1969, the Security Industry Association (SIA) provides its members with a full-service, international trade association promoting growth, expansion, and professionalism within the security industry by providing education, research, technical standards, representation, and defense of member\'s interests. MDI Security Systems Receives Over $1 Million in Orders for Enterprise Customer Upgrades

MDI Clients and Integrators Continue to Demonstrate their Reliance on MDI's Award Winning Unified Security Solutions

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – March 27, 2006 - MDI, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDII) today announced that its MDI Security Systems Division has been awarded contracts to upgrade critical security systems for eight of its long-standing enterprise customers. The initial awards will total $1,044,355 in revenue to the Company when completed and include product training and product support services.

According to J. Collier Sparks, CEO and President of MDI, “During April of last year, MDI issued a media release announcing upgrades to several classified Government facilities totaling $750,000. Due to the fact that those upgrades involved top-secret Government and Homeland Security facilities, the Company was not permitted to provide details. For this year’s announcement, and as we continue to upgrade our long-standing customer base while leveraging our strong position in the Federal Government Market, I am pleased to report that we have recently secured initial orders for $1,044,355 in upgrades to the MDI Unified Technology Platform. These orders come from eight of our valued clients. As you will see from their profiles, their security affects the daily lives of many Americans and their families. We are honored that they have chosen MDI as their partner for the future.”

Profiles of MDI clients related to these orders include:

      • One of California’s largest school districts, with an enrollment of nearly 80,000 students
      • A financial institution with locations across the state of Nevada
      • A major international airport that services 33 million passengers per year
      • One of the largest installations in the U. S. Army
      • A U.S. Army biomedical and biodefense research facility
      • An intelligence-related U.S. national security agency
      • A premier intelligence analysis organization in the U.S. Department of Defense
      • A U.S. Army arsenal.

Of the $1,044,355 awarded, $208,916 has been shipped earlier this quarter and the remaining $835,439 is scheduled to ship over the next 30 days.

“I stated last April that we expected many of our existing customers would upgrade their MDI systems as the company moved forward after its reorganization. With its new Unified Technology Platform, MDI has made it very simple and cost effective for the hundreds of MDI clients currently on legacy systems to undergo an enterprise upgrade. Our Engineering team has worked with these clients to develop our Unified Technology Platform based on their high-security needs. Our Federal Systems Division, headed by Jim St. Pierre, has put a major emphasis on increasing the number of upgrade projects that MDI and its Dealer Partners will undertake in 2006 and we are confident that many more customers will choose to upgrade with MDI in the future. This confidence is based on dollarized value and the seamless advancement to a Unified Technology that is superior to all integrated management systems in the industry”, said Mr. Sparks.

MDI continues to offer the same level of security that it provides for its classified Government clients to its commercial enterprise customers. Its patented technology platform unifies an organizations global security infrastructure into a centralized command and control dashboard environment. MDI unified technology is available to organizations of all sizes and across all industries.

MDI Announces ONE UNIFIED TECHNOLOGY™ - the Security Industry's Only Open Architecture Command and Control Operating System

MDI also to Present Dell Case Study Titled "Mission Possible" at ISC West Security Conference Booth #22087

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – April 4, 2006 - MDI, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDII) today announced that MDI Security Systems will formally launch its ONE UNIFIED TECHNOLOGY™ platform at the ISC West Security Product Show in Las Vegas, NV on April 5th. ONE™ is the only open architecture command and control operating system available on the market today.

A Revolutionary Open Architecture Security Operating System -
The ONE platform is the framework that unifies security point products, systems and subsystems into a common management platform. Far beyond the capabilities of the integrated security management software promoted by industry competitors, the ONE platform delivers an open architecture environment that adapts each individual application and device into its structure - promoting global collaboration as a single system.

      Revolutionary Adaptive Intelligence –
As the only open architecture command and control operating system for the security industry, ONE™ standardizes the functionality and user interface of applications and devices that are hosted on its platform. In a virtual “plug-and-play” adaptive environment, ONE™ learns over time and grows more intelligent as additional capabilities are added to it.

      Automatically Scaleable -
When challenged by complex high-security integration environments, traditional second generation integrated security systems become overwhelmed and impossible to manage. According to leading security industry analysts, the second generation integration systems available on the market today have failed to provide the framework needed for true unification. The ONE platform automatically adapts to the entire enterprise security infrastructure under its control and delivers the ability to seamlessly add modules and scale to larger or smaller systems as required.

Besides its ability to unify systems, ONE™ delivers unprecedented situational awareness, visualization, storage and redundancy - while empowering security teams to prioritize and manage critical events in real-time.

      The Development of ONE -
For over two decades, MDI has developed customized security management solutions for many of the nation’s highest security organizations and largest commercial enterprises. MDI created the ONE platform by recognizing the advantages of a unified operating system and by incorporating the technical advances learned from some of the highest security organizations in the world. The ONE platform allows organizations to develop software code that meets their needs by using the ONE development SDK, using a concept similar to the Linux platform. The ONE platform allows MDI to customize applications faster and more efficiently than any other security company.

      Auto Adaptive™ Driver Technology –
New Auto Adaptive™ driver technology allows MDI to unify any required technology into the ONE platform seamlessly and with less effort than any of its competitors. This Auto Adaptive driver technology is used to synthesize data and communicate with classified government systems and other legacy systems that cannot otherwise be handled without costly customization and integration.

“Based on market research, analyst feedback and customer interviews, we intend to use the capabilities of our ONE platform to revolutionize the security industry as we know it,” stated J. Collier Sparks, President and CEO of MDI. “The industry has been in constant search of an enabling technology, similar to a computer operating system, which can unify and control their entire global security infrastructure while protecting their security investments from obsolescence. They have been searching for a system where everything functions as one; the glue that brings and holds together the entire enterprise. I am exited to state that after two long years of development, we have accomplished our product goals and delivered a solution that is capable of taking MDI to a market leadership position. I would like to invite everyone in the industry to visit us at ISC West this year for a preview of our team’s groundbreaking accomplishment,” he concluded.

      More Information on ONE –
For more information on ONE, including interactive demonstrations and diagrams, please visit the MDI home page at www.mdisecure.com.

MDI has submitted its new commercial dealer product, the ASL video appliance built on the ONE platform, for a new product award at ISC West. It will be competing against over 15 new products for the award. Results will be announced at a later date.

MDI to Highlight Dell Case Study -

Dell has announced a new case study based on the ONE platform and MDI’s open architecture operating system C2OS™. Dell representatives will be at the MDI booth at the ISC West show to speak about the Dell hardware solutions incorporated into the ONE platform and C2OS. To access this case study online, please visit www.mdisecure.com, or you may visit the Dell website at www.dell.com/casestudies.

MDI Security Systems extends business focus into health care
San Antonio Business Journal - May 26, 2006

MDI Security Systems is branching out into the health-care security market.

The company, a division of San Antonio-based MDI Inc. (NASDAQ: MDII), formed a strategic partnership with Jenkins Security Solutions to work on a series of security convergence projects for hospital clients in California and Nevada.

The value of the work was not disclosed.

Jenkins is a Walnut Creek, Calif.-based company that provides integrated security services. Jenkins employees are working with the hospitals' IT departments to install MDI's SAFEnet system. The technology is an open architecture platform that can be configured to work with a range of building-access control and video systems.

Officials with both companies say the combination of Jenkins' experience and MDI's technology will help health care firms develop a scalable security network for their organizations.

MDI's system will be marketed as a way to help health care organizations meet government-mandated security and privacy regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Joint Council on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations or any future state or Homeland Security directives that may affect their business continuity plans.

In dealing with the fact that different hospitals work with different IT and security technologies, Jenkins has found that MDI's SAFEnet platform can integrate a hospital existing infrastructure without having to invest in new equipment, Jenkins Vice President Vince Hernandez says.

MDI manufactures security software, hardware and video systems that protect people, facilities and assets.
