Options Significant Land Position In Madagascar
Pencari Mining Corporation ("Pencari") is pleased to announce it has expanded its option with Itea Minerals Inc. ("Itea") to include multiple exploration properties totalling 9,200 square km in central, western, and southern Madagascar. Pencari and Itea have reached an agreement whereby Pencari has exclusive rights to all exploration properties acquired by Itea in Madagascar. The minimum property expenditure of $250,000 disclosed in Pencari's May 24, 2006 press release has been extended to June 30 2008, with additional expenditures of $500,000 required in each of the subsequent 3 years. In addition, the last cash payment of $250,000 has been extended by one year to June 30, 2011. All other terms remain the same.

Pencari now holds mineral permits that are prospective for gold, uranium and diamonds covering a total of 9,200 square kilometres in central, western, and southern Madagascar. Pencari continues to look for additional opportunities. Below lists the properties currently held.

P49 Gold Property

The P49 property covers a contiguous surface area of 462.5 square kilometres or approximately 43,000 hectares and is situated in the southeastern Antananarivo Province.

The P49 Property is well-located within an historic gold mining region of Madagascar. Numerous gold prospects and old deposits are known in the immediate vicinity as well as within the property. Notable amongst these is Soavinarivo situated in the southwestern portion of the P49 Property. Soavinarivo was mined by the French in the early 1900's and again during the 1930's. Also during the early 1900's and 1930's the French mined other gold occurrences in the region, including the Antananarivokely, Ambondra, and Sarobaratra deposits. All were mined at surface only, and it is highly unlikely that any of these gold occurrences have been drill-tested or subjected to modern geochemical and geophysical techniques.

Tsididdy Gold Property

The Tsididdy Gold Property is located 180 kilometres west of the capital Antananarivo. Covering 2,190 square kilometres Tsididdy encompasses several small orpailleur-type gold mining operations currently in operation, as well as older, inactive surficial gold workings. A compilation of these historic and current operations is being undertaken.

The exploration targets at Tsididdy are bedrock-hosted, high-grade, structurally-controlled gold deposits. The southern portion of the Tsididdy Property is some 20 kilometres north of Pan African Mining's Mountain of Gold Property. Pan African recently (Nov. 6, 2006) announced core-drilling results from Mountain of Gold, including 17.2 metres grading 4.04 g/t Au, which included a 5.5 metre interval grading 50.81 g/t Au.

Uranium Property: A prospective uranium property covering 637.5 square kilometres. It covers part of a Jurassic-Cretaceous aged sedimentary basin in western Madagascar in the province of Toliary. This sedimentary basin is over 600 kilometres long and is considered to be prospective for economic uranium deposits. Much of the length of this basin has been blanketed by exploration permits. The road-accessible town of Miandrivazo is located just east of the property.

Diamond Property: 3 large contiguous permits for diamond exploration, totalling 5,869 square kilometres. These are situated in southern Madagascar in the provinces of Toliary and Fianarantsoa. The diamond potential of southern Madagascar was brought to light in 2003 with the discovery of diamonds in old gravel deposits, then by the discovery of diamond indicator minerals by the BRGM in an area southeast of Fianarantsoa, southeastern Madagascar. Subsequently diamond exploration intensified with large land positions being taken by two international diamond exploration companies.

Madagascar is emerging as a region with good diamond exploration potential. The island has a favourable thick crust and is thought to be a fragment of the Gondwanaland super-continent. Paleo-reconstructions of Gondwanaland suggest Madagascar was once attached to, and between Tanzania (East Africa) and southern India. Both of the latter regions host kimberlites and produce diamonds. In 2005 the first two kimberlite dykes to be discovered in Madagascar were announced by Majescor Inc.

Pencari now controls 5 extensive properties totalling some 9,200 square kilometres in Madagascar. This includes the Itea Property site of the historic Itea gold deposit. Pencari plans to begin exploring Itea in early 2007. Information for this new release was provided by John D. Charlton, P. Geo., a qualified person under NI 43-101.

Hatte ich auch 2 Wochen lang gehofft und dann bei 0,18 CAD gewartet,
dass ich bedient werde - ist auch passiert,
wenn auch nicht in meiner gewünschten Menge und in 3 Teilausführungen
- was bei Consors doch einiges an Gebühren kostet,
dass es gleich heute so losgeht ist natürlich ein Traum :

Kurs momentan bei 0,29 d.h. +56,76 Prozent !

Damien Reynolds hat meiner Meinung nach den einfach richtigen Riecher.
Meine erste "Bekanntschaft" mit ihm machte ich
als ich 2005 Aktien von Tournigan Gold kaufte, wo Damien Reynolds noch CEO war.
Mit Tournigan konnte ich einen schönen Gewinn einfahren.
Aber auch Buffalo Gold, Oriental, Longview...beweisen - er hat ne gute Nase...

Und momentan hat Mr.Reynolds einiges für Pencari Mining übrig :

Interessantes teil das du da ausgegraben hast noch interessanter ist dein einstandskurs! ist inzwischen leider schon fast zu spät um auf den fahrenden zug aufzuspringen, sprich das downrisk ist beträchtlich, klar es könnte auch noch hoch gegen gut 1c$ laufen.

so ändliche situationen gabs ja schon öfters, damien reynolds spring als ceo mit auf eine company auf und nach dem ersten hype gehen kleinere buden erstmal wieder auf ausgangs niveau zurück, hier mal einige bsp von companys bi denen auch reynolds als co aufgesprungen ist und was danach kam:




waratah coal, hier sieht man das listing mit DR an board und im anschluss wieder back @ ausgangslevel, april good news und dadurch wieder up.


sunrise min, auch hier december DR springt auf und dan hype hoch und back @ ausgangs level.



auch beim macarthur chart ist zu erkennen wo DR an board ging und wos erstmal wieder hin ging danach


Diese companys sind in mcap in etwa mit pencari zu vergleichen, auch vom entwicklungsstand her da noch kaum gedrillt wurde.

Klar 100sicher wissen wohin die reise geht kan niemand, doch die gefahr in eine fahnenstange reinzukaufen und dan je nach dem lange auf sein einstandskurs warten zu müssen ist gross, D.Bringer du kennst das ja auch was ich damit meine, dein anderer eröffneter thread über madagascar uran play war auch so ein fahnenstangen toprein kauf.
Wer natürlich schon dabei ist kan laufen lassen und stop nachziehen, pencari war bis vor kurzem noch bei unter 0,2c$ und PP @ 0,15c$ und nun schon bei 0,7c$, dieser anstieg ist zu 85% reynolds zu verdanken, nur leitet der halt volle 13 companys meist alls director.

Hätt ich früher bemerkt das DR bei PMC aufspringt hätte ich gern auch gekauft.

Mal interessant zu sehen, wie sich ähnliche Aktien entwickelt haben
bei denen D.Reynolds eingestiegen ist!
Meine Situation ist natürlich eine andere als bei denen, welche jetzt an den Einstieg denken,
selbst wenn es nun wieder nach unten gehen sollte, macht es mir nicht viel aus
(wie auch bei Cline Mining, wo es nach einem "Pseudo-James Dines-Hype" wieder runter ging).
Ich bedauere etwas, dass ich vor 4 Monaten nicht meine gewünschte Menge Shares bekam,
aber ich denke auch noch lange nicht an einen Ausstieg.
Denn ich hab ja nicht auf D.Reynolds spekuliert, sondern darauf,
dass Pencari riesige Explorationsgebiete besitzt auf denen mMn
große Chancen bestehen bedeutende Funde durch die jetzt hoffentlich
bald startenden Bohrungen zu machen.
Immer natürlich mit Blick auf die aktuelle Marktkapitalisierung -
von früher 2 Mio CAD auf inzw. bereits 9 Mio CAD(bei 0,70 CAD)-
die mir jetzt nach PP und mit DR noch recht preiswert erscheint.
Zumal man ja auch nicht ganz "blind" exploriert, denn es liegen tlw.
Bohrergebnisse und Unterlagen der französ.BRGM vor(eigentlich egal ob Gold, Uran oder Diamanten).
Damien Reynolds potenziert das Ganze natürlich,
auch bin ich mir dadurch sicher, dass die Explorationsarbeiten nun finanziell abgesichert sind.

wieso kommst du den auf 9mio mcap?

bei bigcharts steht outstanding shares 22,3mio shares und mcap 15,6mio c$, was ja nochmal ein deutlichr unterschied ist zu 9mio.


ok alle daten scheinen bei bigcharts sicher nicht zu stimmen, zb steht da ein PE von 0,66 und EPS 1,06


ein kleinen teil dürfte evt auch casey daran schuld sein, er schrieb neulich mal im www über die chance uran in african madagascar zu finden...oder so.


es muss noch gar nicht so schnell runter gehen, den solange DR weiterkauft ist alles ok, auch die PP sahres sind vorerst gesperrt.


schade hab ich den start hier verpasst, ein kauf seit reynolds meldung hätte gereicht für mehr als verdopplung.

mist wollte auch noch ein paar, da ich aber andere gute plays hätte verkaufen müssen für diese aktion habe ich gelassen, aber es scheint weitr zulaufen und wie


@bringer wens aber so hoch hypte würde ich doch mit engem stop nachziehen, fast jede wette das die im sommer nochmal billiger wird, ausser es kommen übernews rein. aber die drill seite, das dauert immer lange bis da mal was läuft.

Sorry und Danke zu der Anzahl der Shares bzw. zur mcap!
Bevor ich das mit den 9 Mio MK schrieb
hatte ich noch auf der Homepage die Anzahl der Shares gesucht,
doch die Seite Share Structur ist noch nicht belegt -
und da hatte ich mich auf die Angaben von Stockhouse verlassen(knapp 13 Mio).
Doch bei Corporate Directory fand ich jetzt doch eine Angabe:
Shares outstanding: 22.0 million,
d.h. bei Kurs 0,70 CAD = 15,4 Mio CAD mcap.

Ob Doug Casey nun eine spezielle Aktie mit seinem Artikel meinte -
keine Ahnung. An diesem Tag ging jedenfalls nur Cline Mining 15 Prozent hoch.

Mit dem Stop nachziehen hast Du sicher recht, denn nach so einem Hype muss es eigentlich noch mal runtergehen.
Ob ichs so mache - mal sehen, viell. verkauf ich einen Teil...

jo auf jedenfall hast du pmc sau gut getimet gekauft, kan man nur gratulieren, geiler anstieg in wenigen tagen, so dürftest du dein cline schnitzer wieder locker ausgebügelt haben.


ich habs pmc kaufen gelassen, bin in solchen fällen auch schon auf die schnauze gefallen, mit der zeit bekommt man nen riecher wo man noch rein kan und wo mans besser erstmal bleiben lässt.

da dir wies ausschaut gut kleine interessante uran plays gefallen, schau dir mal centram an! habe ein thread dazu hier auf wo, rechne diese woche noch mit nächstem schub, centram ist auf der uranium stock summit, die ja heute und morgen stattfindet


centram ist neu nun auch in berlin gelistet, bin da auch schon ne weile dabei und werde heute nochmal nachlegen in can.

Longview Capital Partners Inc. is releasing details, pursuant to Section 111 of the Securities Act (British Columbia) and Section 141 of the Securities Act (Alberta), on its holdings in Pencari Mining Corp.

Pursuant to a private placement, Longview acquired five million common shares and five million share purchase warrants of the issuer, each warrant entitling the holder thereof to acquire one additional common share at a price of 25 cents until April 4, 2009. These securities represent approximately 26.22 per cent of the issued and outstanding common shares of the issuer calculated on a partially diluted basis.

Pencari wird ja nicht in D gehandelt. Hat jemand von Euch den Einfluss, die Macht und vielleicht auch die Möglichlichkeiten daß diese kleine Perle auch in Frankfurt gehandelt werden kann?
Das wäre doch mal eine Maßnahme. Bringt mehr Geld, Liquidität und auch Interesse für Aktie.

Pencari Mining Corporation (Pencari) (TSX VENTURE: PMC) is pleased to announce that it has increased its land holdings in Madagascar. Pencari now holds a total of 12 properties, 8 of which are prospective for uranium for a total land size of approximately 32,000 square kilometers or 3.2 million hectares.

Pencari has acquired four properties collectively called the Morondava uranium properties, covering approximately 2,718 square kilometers in western Madagascar. The Morondava form four separate contiguous properties covering segments of the 600 kilometer long Morondava sedimentary basin. This is a sandstone-dominated Jurassic-Cretaceous aged basin forming part of the Karoo Supergroup and is considered highly prospective for uranium deposits. Extensive uranium exploration was undertaken in the Morondava basin by the French government agency Commisariat de L'Energie Atomique (CEA) in the period 1958-1962. This was resumed by OMNIS, a Madagascar government organization, in the period 1976-82. Work included aerial surveys, ground detailing and drilling. In 1999-2000 COGEMA, a wholly owned subsidiary of CEA, continued uranium exploration in the southern part of the Morondava Basin. It was concluded from this historic work that the Karoo system of Madagascar is considered to have the potential for several sedimentary sandstone type uranium deposits.

Pencari has increased its Betroka property to 18,925 square kilometers. The majority of this property forms a contiguous unit. Recent geological mapping by GAF, AG and BGR (a UN funded geological mapping program) has revealed uranium-thorium mineralization in association with several metamorphic units.

Pencari has acquired several uranium properties in the Betafo-Antsirabe and Fianarantsoa area of west central Madagascar. These properties cover a collective total of 5,744 non-contiguous square kilometers. The CEA began exploring for uranium in this area in the early 1900's with the discovery of concentrated uranium mineralization in a lacustrine basin (lake bottom) near Antsirabe. A small mining operation produced uranium from these for the French government intermittently over the period 1909 - 1952. Historic exploration has revealed the presence of uraniferous niobo-tantalite mineralization, including rare specimens of betafite. Some of these bodies have been exploited by small mining operations.

Several samples were taken from the Betafo property, over a distance of 2.5 kilometers, and from the Betroka property. A geological and geochemical program including radiometric analysis is currently underway on several of our properties. The company will release results as they become available.

From 1960 until 2002 very little exploration activity took place until new mining laws were adopted in 2005. The current leadership of Madagascar has moved forward with new legislation that is designed to encourage exploration and development by creating a stable and attractive political environment conducive to foreign investment.

There are two major projects underway. Dynatec has committed to a $2.5 billion development of the Ambatovy nickel deposit. Rio Tinto is in the process of developing the $1 billion Limonite titanium deposit. These projects will improve the basic infrastructure in Madagascar, increasing the viability of future exploration successes.

Pencari Mining made an initial investment in Madagascar by way of an option agreement with Itea Minerals Inc. Under the option agreement any properties owned by Itea Minerals Inc., along with any additional properties acquired, will be included in the option agreement. Pencari has assembled a highly experienced team for Madagascar. This team is led by Chief Geologist Marc-Andre Boudreau, PGeo, who has been working in the region since the mid-1990's. Some of the team members include Lalaina Robson, a Malagache geologist with over twenty years of experience and Tovo Ratimbarison, an administrator who is familiar with the Malagache government institutions and corporate laws. In addition, Jerry Blackwell, PGeo., a director, and Jack Charlton, PGeo., a consulting geologist, are providing technical assistance to our exploration programs.

Our team has been active in Madagascar since 1997, evaluating, prospecting and acquiring land. Pencari currently holds four prospective gold properties totaling 3,387 square kilometres and eight properties that are prospective for uranium totaling 29,019 square kilometres. Danke für den Tip!
Also ich kaufe lieber Aktien an denen LV respektive DR neue eingestiegen sind. Da ist die meiste Musik drin. Schau mal bei Fortess Base Metals, da besitzt LV und auch DR einen großen Anteil.. und ähnlich wie PMC ist die MK noch sehr gering.
Bei LV sitzen schon viel zuviel Trader und Leser von dem Börsenbrief mit den 8 Buchstaben mit auf der Welle.
Alles klar?
Na dann schau Du doch mal daß PMC in Frankfurt oder meinetwegen auch Berlin handelbar ist. Im Vorraus schonmal vielen Dank!

Denke schon, dass viele Broker den Handel in Kanada anbieten,
aber es hat halt seinen Preis.
Selbst kann ich nur von Consors sprechen, da muss man etwa 150 Euro einplanen.
Bei meinem Pencari - Kauf war es sogar noch etwas mehr,
da die Order in 3 Teilausführungen(obwohl innerhalb von Sekunden) gestückelt wurde.

Pencari Adds Uranium Property and Has Commenced Work in Madagascar

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jul 23, 2007 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX News Network) --

Pencari Mining Corporation ("Pencari") (TSX VENTURE: PMC) is pleased to announce it has acquired the mineral rights to 25 sq km in the historical uranium producing area of Ambatofosy. The property was acquired from a local Malagasy artisan miner.

The Ambatofosy property is situated 18 kilometers west of the city of Soavinandriana and 106 km west of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. Historical records reported that the French started selectively mining this area in the early 1930's producing 20 tonnes of Betafite from hand-cobbed ore that graded approximately 20-26% uranium oxide. Mining activities where shut down at the start of the Second World War and resumed in 1948 by the French Commission a l'Energie Atomique. Work during this time period consisted of 1200 meters of underground tunnels and 390 meters of drilling. Historical production and drilling records for this period are not available.

Old workings on surface can be seen for a length of 250 meters by 100 meters. Artisans are presently mining the zone for quartz crystals 800 meters from the old mine workings. This is an indication that the structure could continue for a considerable distance, increasing the opportunity to expand the zone of uranium mineralization.

Pencari feels that this property holds excellent potential and is a strategic fit with our current uranium property portfolio in Madagascar. "The high-grade nature of the hand-cobbed ore, 20-26% uranium oxide with an indication that structure could continue for a considerable distance, represents an exciting exploration opportunity," quoted Adrian Rollke, President of Pencari.

Pencari has commenced field work on its properties in Madagascar. This work consists of a geological and geophysical program of radiometric and magnetic surveys, sampling, trenching and geological mapping. This program is designed to allow for drilling as early as the fall of this year.

D.h. Du kanntest Pencari vorher nicht?
Im PAF-Thread hatte ich vor einiger Zeit mal kurz Pencari erwähnt.
Über Pan African Mining kam ich ja auch erst auf Pencari Mining(Dez.06).
Die Bedingungen in Bezug auf Uran sind bei beiden von den Voraussetzungen her ja ähnlich:
-die 20 prozentige Beteiligung des Staates über OMNIS
-einige Gebiete, welche bereits früher von den Franzosen exploriert bzw. ausgebeutet wurden
Wenn man dazu die Berichte von RMinConsult über die geologischen Bedingungen auf Madagaskar
bezüglich Uran gelesen hat,
dann kann man bei Pencari Mining sicherlich ähnlich optimistisch für die Zukunft sein,
auch wenn Pan African Mining IMO einige Vorteile z.B.in puncto Zeit/Fortschritt
und Auswahl der Gebiete(da first mover) hat.

Achso, stand was besonderes über PMC im Zeitungsartikel?

.. hatte heute erst den Artikel in der Tribune gelesen.
Das hört sich auch sehr gut an. PMC hat viel Geld in der Kasse und das Gebiet liegt näher an der Infrastruktur, will sagen ist vielleicht einfacher als im Tranamoro-Gebiet.
Ich werd noch ein bisserl studieren - aber Optimismus könnte ich schon auch aufbringen...

Also ich hatte mich im Pan African Mining thread in Bezug auf diese Mitteilung sehr negativ kritisch geäußert, weil das uranhaltige Mineral Betafit nun ncht gerade das Gelbe vom Ei ist. Betafit, ein Mineral der Pyrochlor-Gruppe, ist ein Ti-Nb-Mischoxid, das durch einen Säureaufschluss (leaching) nicht in Lösung zu bringen ist und deshalb in Mischerzen mit der Gangart(taubes Gestein) auf die halde gekippt wird. Auf dem gebiet der Rössingmine werden ganze Bereiche mit Betafit gar nicht erst abgebaut.
Nachträglich habe ich dann auf der homepage der Gesellschaft gelesen, dass sie offenbar auch Lizenzen im westlichen Sedimentärbecken besitzen. Hier könnten bei positiven Befunden durchaus auch in situ leaching Verfahren erfolgreich sein. Es ist aber nicht hinreichend nur erhöhte Radioaktivität oder Urangehalte festzustellen und zu berichten, man muss auch publizieren in welcher Bindungsform das Uran vorliegt.
Um nicht falsch verstanden zu werden, man kann auch Betafit chemisch auflösen, aber eben mit einem wesentlich höheren, die Produktionskosten nachhaltig beeinflussenden (bis zur Unwirtschaftlichkeit)Aufwand.
Man wird die Entwicklung aufmerksam beobachten müssen; ich habe mich aber gefragt, warum ein Explorer darauf hinweist, dass die Franzosen in den dreißiger Jahren 20t Betafit aus der genannten Lagerstätte gewonnen haben, also in der Zeit vor der Entdeckung der Kernspaltung(1939) - vielleicht wegen des Titans oder Niobs???
Fehlt dem Explorer das Wissen oder warum er stellt einen Sachverhalt, der eher negativ zu sehen ist, als pressewirksamen
erfolg dar? Unterschätzt er die potenziellen Investoren?

Danke für die wie immer fundierten und interessanten Ausführungen!
Finde ich ja dann auch sehr erstaunlich warum diese 20t Betafit
publiziert wurden, wenn sie denn einen so negativen Beigeschmack haben -
jedenfalls für diejenigen, welche sich damit auskennen.
Dass 20t Betafit produziert wurde ist seltsamerweise bekannt,
obwohl über die historische Produktion des Urans scheinbar weiter nichts verfügbar ist.
Einiges an Arbeit haben die Franzosen in jenen Jahren aber schon in dieses Gebiet gesteckt,
es muss sich also sicherlich einigermaßen gelohnt haben...
Auf jedenfall muss man hier weiterhin mit einem kritischen Auge beobachten...

das Positivste für mich daran ist eigentlich,
dass weiterhin ernsthaft an den Projekten gearbeitet wird
und in diesem Fall ein anscheinend aussichtsreiches Gebiet ausgemacht wurde.
Wie aussichtsreich lässt sich imo erst nach einigen Bohrungen sagen,

Pencari Mining Corporation (TSX VENTURE: PMC) is pleased to provide an update on the recently completed first stage of exploration work on the Itea property. Recent rock-chip sampling in one deeply weathered muscovite schist band yielded a weighted average of 0.49 g/t gold over a true width of 10 metres. Workings cover an area that is over 1,000 metres long and up to 150 metres wide. Itea is located in the central highlands of Madagascar approximately 210 kilometres south of Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar, in a region of mixed subsistence agricultural and mining use. Pencari has an option to acquire 100% of Itea.

Gold mineralization at Itea is hosted in a pyrite and arsenopyrite-bearing muscovite schist. The favourable schist unit occurs within a Precambrian metamorphic sequence thought to be of sedimentary origin, that in turn overlays older amphibolite and migmatite. This sequence has been intruded by younger granite which outcrops in the centre of a regional dome.

The Itea property was mined in colonial times. Work was limited to hydraulic sluicing and tunneling of the upper 3 to 16 metres of bedrock and adjacent laterite soil horizons. Workings, now largely overgrown, are extensive, covering an area that is over 1,000 metres long and up to 150 metres wide. The mineralized muscovite schist unit outcrops in a 130 by 60-metre open cut, where up to 62 kg of gold is reported to have been produced before World War II. Recent rock-chip sampling in one deeply weathered muscovite schist band yielded a weighted average of 0.49 g/t gold over a true width of 10 metres. This result is encouraging as it confirms the presence of gold at Itea and identifies the favourable host unit. Initial mapping and prospecting of the pit and the surrounding areas has indicated that this is one of perhaps several mineralized muscovite schist horizons at Itea, and that the favourable unit may be repeated by folding and faulting. The zone plunges to the southwest and may continue at depth.

Gold-bearing saprolite and lateritic soil is seen for at least 1,500 metres to the southwest of the cut. The topography and the location of these auriferous saprolites suggest that the source of the elluvial gold should be further to the west and southwest and not from the area of the open cut.

The company has completed a detailed geological map of the zone, and is currently prospecting and mapping a much larger area. Grid soil sampling has been completed, as well as detailed rock sampling. Further work, aimed at guiding future drilling, is planned for 2007, including completing a ground geophysical survey to help identify hidden zones of mineralized schist. The goal at the Itea Property is to explore for and develop a bulk gold deposit.

The initial assessment was preformed by OMNIS (Office Nationale des Mines et des Industries Strategiques), a Madagascar extra-governmental agency that aids the mineral exploration industry by performing geological services that include geological mapping, trenching and soil sampling. Pencari's geological consultants direct and review the results of the OMNIS work at Ambatofotsy.

Uranium mineralization at Ambatofotsy is associated with a large, zoned pegmatite complex. Mineralization is reported to include betafite (a high uranium, columbium-tantalum mineral) and columbite-tantalite (columbium-tantalum minerals). Both minerals are important sources of tantalum, a high-tech metal used in electronics.

A strong NW-SE trending uranium anomaly has been identified from an in-house aerial radiometric survey. The OMNIS program has already extended the uranium bearing pegmatite for 3,000 metres beyond the known workings which are reported to have produced over 20 tonnes of high grade betafite "ore" prior to World War One. The zone remains open. High spectrometer readings have been detected by OMNIS along the entire trend. Spectrometer readings exceed 7,000 counts per second. All high spectrometer readings are coincident with uranium anomaly detected by an aerial radiometric survey done in September 2007. Numerous other radiometric anomalies were detected during the airborne survey and are scheduled for initial ground-truthing in the coming weeks.

Continuing geological mapping, prospecting and soil and stream sediment sampling programmes on Ambatofotsy will run in conjunction with Pencari's regional prospecting and geochemical programmes.

Auf jeden Fall besteht dieses Betafit aus sehr wertvollen Metallen,
das columbium ist übrigens die engl. Bez. für Niob.
Die Frage ist natürlich immer: Wie kompliziert und kostenintensiv ist die Trennung der einzelnen Elemente...

hier steht z.B. etwas dazu:

Durch den hohen Wert der Metalle und möglicher Wertsteigerung
könnte es durchaus gewinnbringend sein, kann ich mir vorstellen.

Außerdem kommt das Uran ja nicht nur im Betafit vor,
sondern auch in anderen Verbindungen.
Ist jetzt natürlich eine andere und auch interessante Betrachtungsweise des Vorkommens.
Muss man mal sehen, was sie draus machen -
dem stehe ich jedenfalls kritisch, aber auch hoffnungsvoll offen gegenüber...

Natürlich muss man die politischen Risiken berücksichtigen.
Für Madagaskar bin ich da positiv gestimmt, was ich Dir auch schon einmal im Thread: News!!!! Pan African Produktionstart 2008!!!!???/Posting Nr.5 versucht habe darzustellen.
Interessant finde ich auch Deine Postings vorhin im Pan African Mining Thread,
wo Du schreibst, dass Du die Meinung von Experten zur mittel- und langfristigen politischen Lage und zum Umweltschutz auf Madagaskar einholen wirst.

Pencari Mining Corporation (TSX VENTURE: PMC) is pleased to announce it has, through an ongoing soil and rock sampling program, increased the geological footprint of the Itea mineralized structure to approximately 2km and has a width up to 300 meters. Initial results from an ongoing soil and rock sampling program being undertaken across the Itea property include a peak value of 1.92 g/t gold in soil. Recent rock-chip samples have returned gold values of 1.02 g/t gold and 0.41 g/t gold from within the old pit workings. The goal at the Itea Property is to explore for and the development of a bulk gold deposit.

An initial batch of 287 soil sample were collected systematically on grid lines spaced 50 metres apart. Three high contrast gold-in-soil anomalies were detected. One is in a 700 by 300 metre area centred upon the Itea pit workings, a second anomalous area extends a further 600 metres southwest (with a peak value of 1.92 g/t gold in soil), and a third anomaly is located 700 metres northeast of the old pit (0.73 g/t gold peak value). These results add further weight to the potential extensions and fold repetitions of the favourable mica schist unit that hosts mineralization at the Itea prospect. Recent rock-chip samples have returned gold values of 1.02 g/t gold and 0.41 g/t gold from within the old pit workings, again confirming the presence of gold at Itea within a favourable host unit. Based upon the soil results,the size of the area of potential mineralization is approximately 2000 metres in length, and open for further extension. Owing to the expanded target size the Company plans to further extend its sampling grid across to a three kilometer length. The expanded grid will be used for both geophysical and soil sampling surveys prior to drilling.

Meanwhile, grid soil sampling, as well as detailed rock sampling continues across the Itea prospect. Further work, to be done in 2007, aimed at guiding future drilling, including completing a ground geophysical survey to help identify hidden zones of mineralized schist. The goal at the Itea Property is to explore for and develop a bulk gold deposit.

Soil samples were taken by digging to a depth of approximately 30-50cm and then taking a sample of the B horizon wherever possible, which is then sieved to remove any coarse pisolitic or organic material. In zones of thick lateritic duricrust, a sample of this material is taken. All samples are despatched to ALS Chemex laboratory located in Johannesburg, South Africa for low level gold analysis (5 ppb) by fire assay (50gm charge). Blanks and standards are included as part of ALS Chemex internal quality control procedures.

Bin zwar vor kurzem mit dem Rest aus Pencari noch zu einem guten Preis raus
(als alles richtig abschmierte und PMC 20 Prozent stieg)
um woanders noch günstig nachzulegen,
aber ich bleib mal weiter am Ball und eventuell steig ich auch nochmal wieder ein.
Denn Pencari scheint gute Arbeit machen zu wollen und die Properties sehen auch nicht schlecht aus,
aber ich weiss auch, dass es noch ein weiter Weg ist
bis was Zählbares raus kommt,
was dann auch vom Markt so anerkannt wird.
Andererseits ist PMC immer wieder für Überraschungen gut - da steigt der Kurs plötzlich mal 50 Prozent und mehr...

Pencari Completes IP on Itea Gold Project, Trenching Underway-Drill Program Planned

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jan 29, 2008 (Marketwire via COMTEX News Network) --

Pencari Mining Corporation (TSX VENTURE: PMC) has completed an extensive, detailed ground magnetic and induced polarization (IP) on its Itea Gold property in central Madagascar. The grid survey has yielded a number of anomalies, several of which are coincident with known mineralization, historic mine workings or areas of anomalous gold-in-soils. A programme of trenching is currently underway on these targets and a diamond core drill program is being planned for mid-late February. Diamond drill plan details will be announced when ready.

Gold mineralization at Itea is hosted in pyritic mica schists within a sequence of metamorphosed sedimentary and igneous rocks. Outcrop is sparse at Itea, with locally thick overburden on deeply weathered bedrock and laterite. IP is a geophysical method that is often successfully employed to detect disseminated sulphide mineralization such as that at Itea. The current survey has detected a strong feature at the historic mine workings, suggesting that the zone may increase from its known 250 by 100 metre size to 900 by 150 metres beneath covered areas, and extends to depth. Numerous other IP targets that encompass the old mine workings were also detected within a 2,500 metre-long corridor that is from 150 to 650 metres wide, extending to the northeast and southwest. Several of these are coincident with soil geochemical anomalies and scattered outcrops of mica schist similar to that found at the abandoned mine site.

The IP and magnetic survey at Itea consisted of over 60 kilometres of survey lines respectively spaced 50 to 100 metres apart. This survey was contracted to SAGAX MAGHREB SA. Eight trenches are currently being dug across the higher priority outlying anomalies in order to pinpoint locations for a first phase of drilling.

As a result of the very positive results at Itea, the Company has asked SAGAX to undertake additional IP and Magnetic surveys across the southern claim block at Itea - known as Tsinjava. The Tsinjava prospect lies some 13km SW of the main Itea property, and also has a history of reported gold production. Geological similar in many ways to that of the Itea prospect, mineralisation at Tsinjava appears to be hosted within favourable mica schist units that were exploited by pits and trenches in the early 20th century.

It is anticipated that geophysics survey will be completed across the Tsinjava property in early February with results to follow data processing and review. A reconnaissance soil sampling programme has been completed at Tsinjava and submitted to ALS Chemex in Johannesburg for geochemical analyses.

Pencari's current exploration programmes at Itea and Tsinjava are the first contemporary exploration programmes ever undertaken in the region. Historic mining activities (pre-1940) at both properties consisted of panning and washing deeply-weathered mineralized rocks, recovering coarse gold that was both disseminated in the schists and plated along joints and fractures. No mining occurred beneath the water table, 15 to 22 metres below surface. The goal at the Itea Property is to explore for and develop a bulk gold deposit.

On April 7, 2008, Pinetree Capital Ltd. acquired ownership of one million common shares of Pencari Mining Corp. and 500,000 common share purchase warrants. Each warrant entitles the holder to purchase one additional common share for a period of two years, at a price of 35 cents per share until April 1, 2009, and thereafter at a price of 50 cents until April 1, 2010. In the event that the warrants are fully exercised, these holdings represent approximately 3.3 per cent of the total issued and outstanding common shares of Pencari as of April 7, 2008.

As a result of this transaction, Pinetree held, as at April 7, 2008, a total of 3.5 million common shares of Pencari and rights to acquire an additional 1.25 million common shares of Pencari upon the exercise of convertible securities, including the warrants.
