Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley Start Airvana at 'Overweight'
NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of wireless technology maker Airvana Inc. rose sharply Wednesday after a pair of analysts initiated coverage with "Overweight" ratings, saying the stock is undervalued and the market for its products should grow.

The stock rose 89 cents, or 17.1 percent, to $6.09 in afternoon trading.
Airvana provides network infrastructure products used by wireless carriers for mobile broadband services.
Lehman Brothers analyst Jeffrey Kvaal said Airvana is increasing its capacity, which should lead to more contracts in the second half of next year.
The company already has relationships with about 30 mobile wireless carriers, including Nortel Networks Corp. Airvana's software is a critical part of Nortel's infrastructure equipment, he said, meaning Nortel and other carriers will keep using the software.
"We believe that revenue from mobile data and applications is poised to grow at least 50% per year over the next several years at Airvana's core carrier partners," he said.
Kvaal set a price target of $8.50 per share.
Morgan Stanley analyst Scott Coleman began covering the Chelmsford, Mass., company with a price target of $10 per share. He said the wireless broadband market is "in its infancy," so demand for Airvana's products is set to grow and stay strong over the next few years.
"We view Airvana as a core holding for investors seeking exposure to wireless broadband and believe the valuation is too cheap to ignore," he said.
Shares began trading on July 20, and have ranged between $5.03 and $8.35.
