Significant order from the Polish operator POLSAT for digital television

PARIS — 12 December, 2000 - SAGEM has just received an order from the Polish operator TELEWIZJA POLSAT amounting to near 200 million French Francs for digital television OPEN TV™ set-top boxes with built-in Internet access. Deliveries will begin before the end of the year.

This order for high technology devices confirms SAGEM`s leading position. SAGEM was the first manufacturer to develop and deliver in high quantities digital television OPEN TV™ set-top boxes with built-in Internet access.

This type of set-top box that combines digital television reception and Internet access (access to portals, surfing and e-mail) has, for almost one year, become very popular in Spain and Scandinavia where substantial deliveries have been made.

The digital satellite set-top boxes SAGEM ISD 4285@ is equipped with an Internet browser that will allow the user to surf the Web on his/her television screen. The viewer/surfer will be able to access all online information, to use electronic commerce, to play, to receive messages, etc. And thanks to the latest SAGEM innovation, the user can answer his/her e-mails with his/her remote control and its "Easy message T9™" (1), a predictive data entry software. The remote control keypad becomes as easy to use as a computer, one keystroke per letter.

SAGEM: New Range of Set-top Boxes with Built-in Hard Disk for Inter@ctive Television

30 January 2001 - "JOURNEES TELECOM SAGEM 2001"- The new SAGEM IRD 5000 PVR@ set-top box is equipped with a built-in hard disk with large capacity (40 Gbytes, i.e. 15 to 20 hours TV programmes). This hard disk offers the functions of a digital video recorder with a highly comfortable use. It particularly features the "Time Shifting" function, which enables viewers to interrupt a programme they are watching: the programme is recorded on the hard disk and this allows them to return to the programme where they interrupted it without missing a second of it (highlights of a film, live transmission of sports events).


In addition, the set-top box with built-in hard disk allows to offer better "pay-per-view" services, keeping in memory the encrypted films and offering them to the viewers exactly when they want to pay for them and watch them. Here, a real "video on demand" service is available for the users, with films they have personally selected or which the Digital TV operator has on offer.


Last but not least, SAGEM has equipped this last-born set-top box with a power of 225 MIPS, which allows to run JAVA™(1) applications and to have a higher performance to the Internet.


With this new range, SAGEM confirms its innovative strategy in the world of digital television.

Kann mir mal jemand sagen welchen Sinn es macht, wenn GRAETZ STB von Sagem vertreibt?? Oder ist das ein Wink mit dem Zaunpfahl!!

Der link bei set-top box.de ist veraltet. Die FTD Industrieagentur hatte sich graetz.de gesichert (als ide mrake in deutschland noch "tot" war, hat diese aber mittlerweile an Amstrad-Met@Sat abgegeben (schon alleine aus merkenrechtlichen Gründen).
alles andere ist pure Spekulation.
