      gewaltiges Potential.

NCD Again Reports Narrower Losses in 2nd Quarter
Revenues Up from Q1 as Unit Sales of Windows-based Terminals Increase 52%
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2001--Network Computing Devices, Inc. (OTCBB:NCDI - news), a leading supplier of thin client information access and management products, today reported revenues of $11,246,000 and a net loss of $1,494,000, or $0.08 per share, for the second quarter ended June 30, 2001. One year ago, the company had revenues of $13,153,000 in the June quarter but posted a net loss of $7,619,000, or $0.46 per share.

For the first half of 2001, NCD`s net loss was $3,322,000, or $0.19 per share, on revenues of $21,725,000, compared with a net loss of $24,813,000, or $1.50 per share, on revenues of $26,900,000 through six months of 2000.

NCD`s second quarter performance continued to improve over the immediate prior quarter. Revenues were up 7.3% from $10,479,000, and the net loss was down 22.4% from $1,828,000, or $0.10 per share, from this year`s first quarter. The quarter-over-prior-quarter revenue increase reflects growing demand for NCD`s ThinSTAR(TM) Windows-based terminals, with shipments up 52% from the first quarter of 2001.

The company said gross margins increased to $3.9 million, or 34.9% of revenues in the second quarter, compared with $3.3 million, or 31.9% of revenues, in the immediate prior quarter. During the second quarter a year ago, gross margins were 25.0% of revenues. Operating expenses of $5.2 million were less than half of what they were a year ago, an improvement the company attributed to a major restructuring implemented last year.

Commenting on NCD`s results, Rudolph G. Morin, president and chief executive officer, said: ``Our results are beginning to show a clear trend toward the thin client platform, which is finally coming into its own in the marketplace. Thin is `in` because it offers simplicity, ease of operation and upgrade, and reduced costs to deploy advanced enterprise systems.``

``We are also benefiting from the ongoing positive effects of our internal cost reduction programs, which continue to yield significant operating improvements,`` Mr. Morin stated. ``Going forward, we believe that sales activity will continue to strengthen, but we are remaining vigilant about cash management and will keep costs down. The goal has been -- and continues to be -- making NCD a profitable company once again.``
