Das berichtet der Nachrichtensender CNN unter Berufung auf eine chinesische Quelle. Außerdem sollen chinesische Beamte das mit geheimer Elektronik voll gepackte Spionageflugzeug bereits kurz nach der Landung am Sonntag betreten haben. Bush fordert von China sofortigen Zugang zu US-Flugzeugbesatzung

Washington (dpa) - US-Präsident George W. Bush hat China aufgefordert, sofortigen Zugang zu den Besatzungsmitgliedern der notgelandeten amerikanischen Aufklärungsflugzeuges zu gewähren. Er verlangte die Rückgabe von Mannschaft und Maschine "ohne sie weiter zu beschädigen oder sich daran zu schaffen zu machen". Bush sagte, er sei besorgt über das zögerliche Verhalten der Chinesen. U.S. Demands Access to Navy Spy Plane in China

SANYA, China (Reuters) - With three U.S. warships standing by in the South China Sea, President Bush on Monday demanded Beijing grant immediate U.S. access to the crew of a Navy spy plane forced to land in China after colliding with a Chinese fighter jet.

In a tense standoff between Beijing and Washington, Bush made plain that China`s failure to comply with the U.S. request for access to the plane and its 24 crew members was "inconsistent with standard diplomatic practice and with the express desire of both our countries for better relations."

"The first step should be immediate access by our embassy personnel to our crew members," Bush said in a terse, televised statement at the White House, after meeting his security chiefs. "I am troubled by the lack of a timely response to our request for this access."

Shortly before Bush`s appearance, the White House said it was in the interest of both countries to resolve the dispute swiftly and expressed the hope that the U.S. Navy EP-3 maritime patrol plane, which is packed with top-secret eavesdropping equipment, be quickly returned.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said he too hoped for a swift solution to the impasse. "I hope that an adequate solution can be found," Tang told reporters in Paris after a meeting with French President Jacques Chirac.

State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Chinese officials informed U.S. Ambassador to China Joseph Prueher that U.S. officials would have "access" to the crew on Tuesday.

U.S. officials said the last communication from the crew shortly after the plane made an emergency landing on Hainan Island in southern China was that armed Chinese soldiers were boarding the aircraft.

THREE DESTROYERS MONITORING SITUATION

As U.S. diplomats were dispatched to Hainan to try to win the release of the crew, Bush met with his national security team, including Secretary of State Colin Powell, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, on how to handle his administration`s first serious foreign policy test involving a military incident.

A defense official said the United States would leave three destroyers in the region to "monitor the situation."

"They were scheduled to transit through there, what they`re doing now is moving more slowly, loitering in that area," the official told Reuters in Washington on condition of anonymity.

Hong Kong`s Cable TV network said senior military leaders from Beijing had gathered to discuss how to handle the matter.

The incident threatened to damage China-U.S. relations at a time when Washington faces a crucial decision on whether to sell advanced weapon systems to Taiwan.

In Beijing, U.S. Ambassador Admiral Joseph Prueher turned up the diplomatic heat, saying China`s refusal to allow any contact with the crew so far was "inexplicable and unacceptable."

"The PRC does not have a sound legal basis for detaining our people," he told reporters in the Chinese capital.

Prueher, a retired admiral who once commanded U.S. forces in the Pacific, said he was frustrated by his inability to put a phone call through to the plane`s commander and crew and cautioned that this was leading to a "worse situation."

Two defense attaches from the U.S. embassy in Beijing and a third diplomat from the U.S. consulate in Guangzhou were in Sanya city at the southern edge of the island, just west of the Lingshui military airport where the plane landed.

Earlier, a spokesman for the U.S. Pacific Command in Honolulu bluntly warned Beijing to stay away from the surveillance plane, a potential treasure trove of military intelligence for the Chinese.

"The entire aircraft is considered sovereign U.S. territory, and the Chinese are not to seize, inspect or board it without U.S. permission," said Lt. Commander Sean Kelly.

Prueher said without speaking to the crew, it was impossible to piece together events that led to the collision and the pilot`s decision to come down in Hainan after issuing a "Mayday" distress call.

"The downside potential if we do not resolve this well, is fairly high because it can bleed over into some other areas."

BOTH COUNTRIES BLAME EACH OTHER

Both countries blamed each for the mid-air tangle during an apparently routine interception off the Chinese coast.

China issued an angry statement saying the four-engine propeller-driven U.S. aircraft veered into the fighter and struck with its nose and left wing.

But the head of the U.S. Pacific Command, Admiral Dennis Blair, told a news conference in Hawaii it was probably an accident caused by a fighter bumping into the American plane.

Two Chinese F-8 fighters were scrambled to intercept the lumbering American aircraft, based in Okinawa, Japan.

"If I had to guess right now, I would say it`s an accident, it`s not a normal practice to play bumper cars in the air, it`s too dangerous for everybody," Blair said, complaining Chinese interceptions had become more aggressive in recent months.

Xinhua news agency quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi as saying China had sent 11 ships and more than 20 planes to the crash area but had not found the missing pilot.

Die USA isolieren sich immer mehr. Erst haben sie Europa verärgert mit der Beibehaltung des CO2-Ausstosses. Jetzt ist China dran. Russland musste auch schon leiden (Raketenabwehrsystem). Serbien wird mehr oder weniger erpresst. Im mittleren Osten ist die Anti-USA-Stimmung auf dem Höhepunkt (sowohl Irak als auch Israel). Ich will ja nichts heraufbeschwören, aber die gesamte Situation ist verdammt angespannt. Die USA sind dabei, sich ins weltweite Abseits zu befördern ... und an allen Fronten gleichzeitig würden sie einen Krieg wohl kaum überstehen können. Die USA halten sich für unverwundbar, weil sie so schön isoliert sind auf ihrem Kontinent. Aber der Pazifik könnte mit China, Russland, Nordkorea, Japan und einigen Orientstaaten zur Ablenkung ein verdammt blutiges Schlachtfeld werden. George W. Bush hat von Diplomatie keine Ahnung, es interessiert ihn noch nicht mal, was andere von seiner Strategie halten. Hauptsache Amerika ist gross und reich - aber das machen die ärmeren Länder nicht mehr lange mit.

Nun ist ja Mr. Bush nicht unbedingt ein Mann des Ausgleiches sondern eher anzusiedeln im Bereich der Hardliner. Sein erklärtes Ziel ist es, Amerika weiterhin verstärkt auf dem Kurs " Vormachtstellung " zu trimmen. Da kommt es gerade gelegen, Macht und Stärke von Anfang an zu demonstrieren, noch bevor alle diplomatischen Mittel genutzt werden. Wenn dann auch noch so sensible Bereiche wie Ausrüstung von Aufklärern evtl. in die Hände der Chinesen fallen, dann ist dies für Mr. Bush höchste Alarmstufe. Wen wundert es, wenn die Amerikaner ihrem Präsidenten massivere Schritte zutrauen und dementsprechend die Börse in den Keller geht. Gute Zeiten für Rüstungsaktien?? Perverse Welt.

Ich kann nur hoffen, daß dieses Faschistenschwein von Bush, dieser minderbemittelte Hohlkopf, von einer noch minderbemittelnden Nation gewählt, keine zweite Kubakrise entfacht. Wenn ich so etwas lese wir mir schlecht und zwar aus dem Grund, da dieser Pseudopräsident mit seinem ganzen verdammten kriegstreiberischen Stab ohne Probleme sich mit China in einem Ton anlegen würde, den diese nicht akzeptieren könnten!

Man sieht es wieder, die Angst regiert ! Mit so einem geisteskranken wie Bush an der Spitze der USA muss man sich aber auch bei jedem kleinen ínternationalen Zwischenfall Gedanken machen ..
