EMEA Accepts Application for Review Through Centralized Procedure

FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Matrix Pharmaceutical, Inc. (Nasdaq: MATX) today announced it has submitted an application for the approval of IntraDose(R) (cisplatin/epinephrine) Injectable Gel for the treatment of recurrent or refractory head and neck cancer to the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA), and the application has been accepted by the EMEA for review through the centralized procedure. The IntraDose application is based on results from two randomized, placebo-controlled Phase III studies. One of the studies was conducted predominantly in Europe.

The European Union (EU) has two primary drug approval procedures, the mutual recognition system and the centralized procedure. The mutual recognition system requires approval from each of the individual EU member states. The centralized procedure provides one approval issued by the EU and is immediately valid in all of the EU`s member countries.

Matrix presented results of two, Phase III studies of IntraDose for recurrent or refractory head and neck cancer at the recent European Congress on Clinical Oncology (ECCO) meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, October 2001. The overall tumor response rate was 29% (35 out of 119 patients) with 19% achieving a complete response.

Patient benefit was also measured in these studies through the use of a treatment goal questionnaire. Of patients treated with IntraDose, 27% achieved a patient benefit, defined as the achievement of a single, pre-selected primary treatment goal. Overall, 34% of patients treated with IntraDose met a primary or secondary treatment goal and 21% of patients noted additional benefits (which were not pre-selected) such as improved swallowing, speech or psychological state and others benefits.

On November 2, 2001, Matrix received a non-approvable letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its IntraDose New Drug Application (NDA) as a treatment for recurrent or refractory head and neck cancer. Matrix is currently evaluating the next steps for IntraDose in the U.S. with the FDA.

Clinical studies have shown IntraDose to be generally well tolerated. IntraDose has shown a favorable adverse event profile with a markedly lower incidence of systemic toxicities than are typically observed with intravenous chemotherapy administration. In studies of head and neck cancer, pain at the injection site that occurred during or immediately after injection was the most common side effect. Six cases of cerebrovascular events (CVEs) occurred early in the U.S. Phase III study of IntraDose for head and neck cancer. No further CVEs occurred after the protocol was changed to exclude tumors directly invading or in close proximity to the carotid artery. About Matrix

Wäre nett, wenn Du das auch ins deutsche übersetzen würdest!
Was meinst Du hat diese Aktie potenzial nach Norden?
Würde mich interesieren deine Meinung und Kursziel?

Leider ist mein Englisch nicht sehr berauschend ABER in Kürze heißt es im Kern des TEXTES, daß MATRIX bei der EMEA eine Überprüfung der Zulassung von IntraDose(R) eingereicht hat mit den entsprechenden 2 Studien der Phase III.
Die EMEA hat anscheinend diesen Antrag angenommen und zur Prüfung akzeptiert. Das heißt aber noch lange nicht, daß das Medikament genehmigt ist !!! Selbst wenn die EMEA die Genehmigung erteilen würde müßte noch die zweite Instanz der EU über eine Zulassung entscheiden und zwar für jedes einzelne Land der EU, um IntraDose(R) EU-weit zulassen zu können.

Soweit habe ich den Text verstanden... naja mein Englisch ist halt zum K.... !!

Trotzdem gehe ich davon aus, daß dieser Prozeß längere Zeit in Anspruch nehmen wird. Allerdings denke ich, daß eine Zulassung im Bereich der EU der Grundstein dafür wäre auch die FDA in den USA zu überzeugen.

Langfristig sehr ich sehr großes Potential in Matrix. Kurzfristig jedoch denke ich wird der Kurs vielleicht noch bis 2 oder auch 3 USD laufen, denn Phantasie belebt die Kurse. Rückschläge sind aber sehr wahrscheinlich.

Wenn Du MATX hast würde ich sie auch weiter halten und ggf. nachkaufen. Also Gewinne laufen lassen. Sollte aber irgendwann in 2002 die Zulassung in der EU kommen glaube ich sollte man VORHER in MATX investiert sein sonst besteht die Gefahr, daß man den Kursen hinterherläuft.

MAX. Depotanteil wäre meiner Meinung nach höchsten 5 % (je nach Risikoeinstellung des Anlegers) da bei MATX auch durch geringe Einsätze sehr hohe Gewinne erzielt werden können.

MATX ist halt ein typischer Biotechwert mit einigen wenigen Produkten. Entweder HOPP oder TOP, daß solltest Du Dir verinnerlichen.

Verstehe nicht das dieser Tread verstummt...und keiner darüber berichtet...ich bin seit ca. 8 Wochen in Matrix investier und habe schon 120% + gemacht....die Hälfte ist raus und der Gewinn bleit drinnen! Also hat mich der Spass nix gekostet!

Matrix steht schon seit zwei Wochen stabil + / - auf 2$

Ist denn keiner dort investiert...??? Habt ihr alle die Aufwärtsbewegung versäumt...???

Hey, ich habe Matrix nicht verschlafen aber der Aufwärtstrend ist meiner Ansicht nach gestoppt, da Chiron MATX für 2,29 $ übernehmen will und auch übernehmen wird.
61 Mio $ kommen mir zwar äußerst billig vor aber MATX braucht anscheinend dringend einen solventen Geldgeber und Lobbyisten für die FDA.
Mein kurfristiges Ziel von 2 $ habe ich erreicht und habe ich mal vorerst von den Aktien getrennt, beobachte sie aber weiter.

Ich lasse meine Anteile auf jeden Fall im depot...mache das nicht nur bei matrix so, sondern generell, habe jede menge werte im depot für die ich nix gelöhnt habe! z.B.broadvision, carrier1, mwgbiotech...usw. ist doch ok so!

ps: was haltet ihr von gliatech (899190) hab mich gestern damit zu einem kurs von 0,53 eingedeckt, müßten auch innerhalb kurzer zeit 100% drinn sein...
