PSFT rallies after Q3 report

PeopleSoft (PSFT: news, msgs) is rallying $4, or 12 percent, to $36.75. The software company said late Tuesday that it earned 8 cents a share in the third quarter, compared with breakeven results in the year-earlier period. Analyst surveyed by First Call had expected EPS of 7 cents, on average. Revenue rose to $443.1 million from $346.1 million last year. Analyst William Lanzon upgraded the shares to a "buy" from a "hold," based on growing momentum and a strengthening pipeline. Also, Chase H&Q added the stock to its "focus list."

PPeopleSoft Introduces New Internet Applications for Professional Services Organizations; PSA Applications Help Customers Boost Efficiency and Raise Profitability

PLEASANTON, Calif., Oct 18, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) reaffirmed its leadership in the field of Professional Services Automation (PSA) today by introducing three pure internet applications that will boost customers` efficiency and enable them to raise their profitability.

The new applications are Resource Management, Contracts Management and Travel and Expense Management. Since they are pure internet applications, they require only a browser to access. They augment PeopleSoft`s position as the only eBusiness application provider that delivers a comprehensive PSA solution for professional services organizations.

"For the last two years, PeopleSoft`s PSA solution has enabled our firm to grow over 50 percent per year as a virtual organization with minimal corporate overhead," says Cal Yonker, president of Crestone International, a 250-person professional services organization.

The three new products - which are fully integrated with PeopleSoft`s existing offerings and built on the PeopleSoft 8 architecture that was launched this summer - expand and enhance the engagement management functionality of the company`s PSA suite:

resource managers to search for, identify and schedule the

-- PeopleSoft Contract Management vastly simplifies the managing

process of revenue recognition from billing, and by turning
negotiated terms into actionable items.
-- PeopleSoft Travel and Expense Management lets employees manage
both billable and non-billable time and expense reporting
while they travel on business, entering data via the Web,
offline in a detached mode.
