TransMedia Group Retained By Coronado Industries to Publicize Low-Cost, Non-Invasive Glaucoma Treatment

BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec 11, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The TransMedia Group announced today it has been retained by Arizona-based Coronado Industries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CDIK) to publicize the effectiveness of its patented Pneumatic Trabeculoplasty (PNT)(TM) equipment, which allows doctors to treat glaucoma non-invasively and reduces the need for eye drops.

"Our job will be to bring Coronado`s remarkable achievements in eye care to the attention of a broader audience beyond the professional ophthalmology community, which already has taken notice of PNT`s unique capabilities in treating glaucoma," said Thomas J. Madden, TransMedia`s Chairman.

Coronado was recently featured in a cover story in Ophthalmology Times, the largest circulation magazine covering ophthalmologic issues. The article focused on Coronado`s PNT treatment and equipment, noting PNT`s 94 percent success rate in lowering the intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma by simply applying its suction device to the eye for two minutes.

"The story we`re going to tell is that finally there`s a treatment that can help the more than 2.5 million glaucoma patients non-invasively without the common side effects or backsliding that often occur after current methods," Madden said. "It not only works faster, but it`s a lower cost alternative to traditional treatments."

According to Madden, another "sleeper" angle to the Coronado story is that it just signed an agreement with the eye care unit of Novartis (NYSE: NVS) giving its CIBA Vision unit an exclusive option for global licensing and distribution rights to Coronado`s PNT equipment and treatment.
