Sniffex ist eine im Taschenformat, Handvorrichtung für die Abfragung einer breiten Vielzahl der Explosivstoffe, die auf seiner Fähigkeit, das Vorhandensein der Nitrooxidionen (basieren freie Radikale) innerhalb seines wirkungsvollen Bereiches zu ermitteln. Anders als andere Vorrichtungen kann Sniffex Explosivstoffe von 10-300 Fuß lokalisieren und finden, selbst wenn der Explosivstoff in den Gebäuden oder in den Trägern versteckt wird.

Sniffex besteht zwei Bestandteile - ein Signalgeneratormodul und ein Abfragungsmodul. In Kraft, wird der Signalgenerator aktiviert, um ein Energiesignal der Kennfrequenz eines Zielmaterials auszustrahlen. Da die Antenne fortfährt, durch eine Strecke zu bewegen, fährt sie fort, in die Richtung des Quellmoduls und des Zielmaterials zu zeigen. Einmal koordiniert ein Satz von für das Zielmaterial sind erzeugt worden, dann kann die genaue Position des Ziels errechnet werden. Zwei oder drei Maße von den unterschiedlichen Richtungen werden für exakte Position eines Ziels angefordert. Wenn eine bestimmte Position vermutlich defekt ist, wie in einem Koffer, kann Sniffex verwendet werden, um zu ermitteln, wenn ein Zielmaterial in dieser Position ist.

Wir haben erfolgreich gezeigt, daß Sniffex Beton eindringen kann und Ziegelsteinwände sowie Metallstrukturen, -behälter und -träger sind. Nur einige Stunden der Ausbildung und des Trainings wird, wenn vorausgesetzt durch einen ausgebildeten Ausbilder angefordert.

Sniffex kann in vielen möglichen Drehbüchern verwendet werden:

1. Suche in den Gebäuden - die Suche kann, vom äußeren geleitet zu werden und ein einzelner Operator durch Sniffex, gehend ein Haus oder kleines Gebäude für kleiner als eine Minute kann nach innen überprüfen auf Munition oder Explosivstoffe. Sniffex erlaubt einem Operator, auf die Straße und Suche nach Explosivstoffen in den Gebäuden zu gehen, die geführt werden.

2. Autos, parkende Lose - ein einfacher Weg um ein Parkenlos mit Sniffex kann ermitteln die Explosivstoffe versteckt in einem oder mehr der Autos.

3. Flächen - Sicherheitspersonal mit Sniffex, kann durch ein Verkehrsflugzeug mit allem Passagiere und Gepäck und kann an Bord überschreiten, das Flugzeug vor Start in einem Paar von Minuten zu überprüfen, um herauszufinden, wenn es alles gibt, das an Bord gefährlich ist; und es kann von einem Sicherheitsabstand von 20-50 Fuß getan werden.

4. Gepäck - Sniffex kann grosse Mengen Gepäck an den Flughäfen oder an den Gewohnheiten überprüfen. - gleichmäßige 10-20 Gramm des Explosivstoffs können einen positiven Messwert mit der Vorrichtung geben.

5. Polizeigebrauch - Polizei kann die Vorrichtung benutzen, um vermutlich defekte Häuser auszusortieren, bevor sie hereinkommend - alles, das erforderlich ist, soll durch das Haus mit Sniffex aktiviert und von der Straße Sniffex überschreiten kann ermitteln, wenn es irgendwelche Explosivstoffe im Haus gibt (manchmal, ist Sniffex so empfindlich, daß es sogar positive Messwerte zeigt, wenn es handguns oder ammunitions im Haus. gibt),
