The Group is the largest zirconium chemicals manufacturer and exporter in the PRC. Its principally engaged in the production and sale of zirconium-related new energy materials (used as electrode materials for batteries), electronic ceramic products and rechargeable batteries.

Business Review - For the year ended December 31, 2005

Notwithstanding the good market for zirconium chemicals in 2005, the expansion of the Company¡¦s zirconium business was somewhat constrained by the tight supply of zircon. At the beginning of the year, the Company has reached an annual supply agreement with a leading zircon producer which, to a certain extent, reduced the effect of the volatile zircon supply and price on the Company¡¦s business. Furthermore, building on prior year¡¦s experience, the Company continued to enhance its product structure by shifting more resources and capacity to high end products. This resulted in another year of revenue growth despite the unfavorable factor on the supply side. The surging price of raw materials not only affected the zirconium business but also brought unfavorable effect to the new energy materials segment. Continuously rising prices of nickel and cobalt led to an erosion of the profit margin in this segment. The management has adopted a strategy to reduce the supply to lower margin customers although this would result in a revenue growth at a rate lower than previously planned. In the long run, the management will flexibly adjust the production plan of new energy materials in order to achieve a revenue growth with reasonable profitability.

Battery business established in last year began the commercialised production in 2005. As in the start-up stage of all other businesses, the battery segment achieved a turnover growth while making a negative contribution to the Group¡¦s profit. However, the management is glad to report that the Company has successfully developed the NiMH batteries with zirconium additive for application under high temperature environment. This new technology has passed the state level examination and has also completed the CE and UL certification for launching of the new products to the European and US markets. The management expects that the commercialisation of this new type of battery will contribute positively to both the revenue and profit of the battery business.

Zirkonium ist ein Element.

Für was braucht man es?
Es wird zum Bau chemischer Anlagen verwendet.
Kerntechnik: Da der Einfangquerschnitt von Zirkonium für thermische Neutronen sehr klein ist, werden seine Legierungen wie Zircaloy, die meistens etwas Zinn oder Niob enthalten, für die Hüllrohre von Uranbrennstäben im Reaktorbau (Kernkraftwerk) benutzt.
Filmtechnik: Für nicht-pyrotechnische Aufpralleffekte von z. B. Gewehrkugeln auf Metalloberflächen benutzt. Sendet beim Aufprall einen Funkenschwall ab.
Zirkoniumlegierungen werden auch für chirurgische Instrumente verwendet.
Zirkoniumverbindungen wie Zirkoniumdioxid oder Zirkoniumsilikat dienen zur Herstellung feuerfester Auskleidungen in Tiegeln und Behältern.
YSZ (yttria stabilized zirconia, kubische Fluorit-Struktur) wird als Oxidionen leitende Membran in Brennstoffzellen (SOFC, solid oxide fuel cell) und in Sauerstoff-Sensoren (z. B. Lambdasonde im Auto) eingesetzt.
Y-TZP (yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia) ist eine Keramik mit extrem hoher Bruchzähigkeit und wird z. B. in der Zahntechnik als hochstabiles Kronen- und Brückengerüst, in künstlichen Hüftgelenken oder als Verbindungselement bei Teleskopen verwendet und löst zunehmend Gold und andere Metalle in der Funktion ab.
Anwendungsmöglichkeit in der Halbleiterindustrie:
In der Halbleiterindustrie werden voraussichtlich ab 2007 bis 2008 für das Gate-Oxid von FETs so genannte high-k Materialien verwendet. Zur Zeit wird Siliziumdioxid (SiO2) dazu benutzt. Durch die fortschreitende Verkleinerung der Transistoren muss auch das Gate-Oxid dünner werden. Für die geplanten Prozesse wie 90 nm und 65 nm sind Oxiddicken von 1,1-1,6 nm notwendig.

Du sollltes natürlich die Umsätze in HongKong anschauen.



Schau dir mal die Umsätze im April an. In Deutschland noch nicht entdeckt.
