      Hallo liebe Casher,

CASH Achieves Solid Result Despite Volatile Market in 2000

      Hong Kong, 16 March 2001

Goal: Through M&A and business expansion, moving towards being a "cross-sector services conglomerate" in 3 years, and enter into the Greater China market

      Highlights :
      - Turnover increased by 93% over 1999 to HK$473 million
      - Net profit grew to HK$101 million
      - Commission revenue from securities brokerage increased by 69%
      - Earnings per share totaled HK$2.00 cents
      - Cash on hand of HK$600 million

The premier financial services group, Celestial Asia Securities Holdings Limited ("CASH" or "the Group") [SEHK: 1049] today announced its 2000 annual results. Turnover increased by 93% to HK$473 million. Profit after taxation grew to HK$101 million. Earnings per share totaled HK$2.00 cents. The board of directors does not recommend final dividend payments for the period ended 31 December 2000 and will save the surplus for forthcoming investment projects.

The Group`s securities brokerage managed in a difficult market to increase commission revenue by 69% to HK$280 million, which are the major operating revenues, representing 59% of turnover. Other strong contributions come from trading of commodities, at HK$30 million or 6% of turnover, and margin financing at HK$42 million or 9%. Revenue come from institutional sales and corporate finance is about HK$15 million.

Mr. Bankee Kwan, Chairman and CEO of CASH, said, "The year 2000 was one in which our rapidly evolving company demonstrated our ability to succeed in an era of unprecedented changes. We achieved satisfactory results despite a volatile market. An important milestone for the Group was we successfully listed our electronic financial services arm CASH on-line Limited ("CASH on-line", or "COL") on the Growth Enterprise Market of Hong Kong Stock Exchange Limited, demonstrating how our combination of technology and professionalism can create substantial value in a short time span. We also put much effort in strengthening the foundation for our continued success in future through investing in human capital and our technology platform as our core strategies."

"The management has long been awarded of the challenges presented by the dramatic structural change of financial services in Hong Kong. During the period under review, we have taken every opportunity to enhance our competitive advantages by improving operational efficiency such as launch of Broker Supplied System (BSS), and introduce payment gateway service. In addition, the Group also increased level of its quality services by setting up premier account services team, provide in-depth research analysis, improving customer relations, establishing experienced corporate finance team. More importantly, our Transtech optical fiber joint venture, will soon be in production in the fourth quarter of 2001 and will become another significant revenue income generator for the Group. Efforts we have devoted into in 2000 will begin to show rewards as we move into our next phase of development."

He continued, "Further ahead, we are moving towards being a cross-sector services conglomerate which we believe is the ideal model for the group to expand outside Hong Kong, especially penetrating into Greater China market. The emerging opportunities of merger and acquisition after the downturn of the technology market create chances for us to realize this business model. We will be targeting business with substantial customer bases. The acquisition of Pricerite Group Limited early this year is our first move towards our vision. Pricerite has completed its restructuring in the year 2000. Its solid business foundation is believed to bring stable income to the Group. Making use of our existing technology and brand platform can create synergies and economies of scale through bringing together businesses serving different segments of the consumer market."

"We do foresee keen competition and difficulites of the market in the future. The Group will take them seriously and always seek for best business model suitable as well as better prepared ourselves for these great challenges. We believe the challenges that lie ahead as technology transforms economies and business practices will provide great opportunities for expansion to dynamic and flexible companies like CASH."

Revenue increased by 107% over 1999 to approximately HK$44 million. This reflects an increase in our customer base by 350%. He added, "To prepare for upcoming challenges and the increasing demand in Internet trading, the Group upgraded its platform to a Windows 2000 version that provides superior security as well as higher scalability and improved load-balancing capabilities. Another important development came in February 2001, when T+2 settlement service was introduced to clients with real-time updated portfolio, trading limit, and settlement balance, uniquely among online financial services providers in Hong Kong."

"In addition, the Group also worked hard to cement alliances and maintain active dialogs with leading providers in various industries to enhance its service to clients. Such as joint efforts with HSBC to provide more straightforward and efficient electronic payment gateway service, Easy Transfer Service; partnering with other technology providers to launch Mi-Trade, a more convenient mobile trading instrument for securities and commodities trading via WAP-enabled devices and PDA."

"The creation of the personal financial portal e-finance.com.hk realizes the Group`s vision of becoming a one-stop-shop electronic financial services company. During the period under review, the Group has launched a upgraded version of the site with a new design and enhanced addition of comprehensive lifestyle features, including real-time market information, financial modeling, market commentary, stock portfolio screening, sports and leisure."

He said, " As CASH on-line`s brand name is now highly recognized by public, we expect the expenses for advertising and promotion will fall sharply in 2001, instead we will be focusing on below-the-line promotion as well as more sales-oriented. We foresee that our e-finance portal will be utilize its will bring in potential revenue for the coming year."

      Hallo sevim,

aktie.

CASH on-line and Aon Launch Insurance Service to Provide Best Value-for-money Plans

"e-Surance" - an user friendly on-line insurance service, first of its kind endorsed and co-branded by a world-class industry expert

      Hong Kong, 10 April 2001

CASH on-line Limited ("CASH on-line") [GEM: 8122] has launched "e-Surance" - an online insurance service designed to offer consumers the best possible value for money.

Offered through CASH on-line`s personal financial services web site www.e-finance.com.hk, e-Surance is actively supported by Asia`s largest insurance group, Aon Insurance Group ("Aon"), whose experts will pre-screen plans before they are offered to consumers. Aon also provides advice to assist with the selection of the most appropriate scheme.

e-Surance is the first online insurance service in Hong Kong that is backed by an established, world-class industry player whose experts pre-screen plans and offers advice to customers. It delivers professionally selected value-for-money insurance plans, a "clicks-and-mortar" payment system, online insurance management system, an easy-to-use insurance dictionary; and above all, the reassurance of a widely recognized international insurance group.

"CASH on-line is committed to providing a comprehensive range of financial services to meet the diverse personal financial and lifestyle needs of Hong Kong people," said Ken Khoo, Chief Executive Officer of CASH on-line. "Insurance is a complex product that plays a major role in most people`s lives, protecting their health and possessions as well as providing peace of mind. It was a logical choice for a new service."

"CASH on-line`s strong expertise in designing and developing online transaction engines, its broad customer base and abundant opportunities to cross-sell insurance among its members also influenced the decision to launch e-Surance."

As part of this unique partnership, Aon and its insurance company partners will supply premium insurance plans to e-Surance`s users. Instead of simply posting all existing insurance plans, Aon will pre-screen all products, and select products in each category that offer the best value-for-money.

Rather than overloading customers with a flood of information, the e-Surance site offers product highlights and professional recommendations. A team of Aon professionals is available by phone to answer any questions the customers might have. After selecting the right package, e-Surance customers can view their insurance portfolio and related documents online via a single screen.

"Currently, most insurance web sites provide only unfiltered information to consumers and some of them only support payment by credit card or cheque payment system," Nancy Tsing, Director of Business Development of CASH on-line. "Our product is aimed at customers who would like to save time and money by buying insurance online, but who also value the personal service and advice that an expert can provide.

"Instead of starting this service with individual insurance companies, we chose to work with a respectable insurance group with worldwide recognition. As a renown world-class insurance group, Aon will provide an unbiased selection of insurance products and advice, while its years of expertise in the industry will offer tremendous confidence to customers."

e-Surance offers seven categories of insurance products, namely: life, accident, home, domestic helper, motor, travel and golf. More categories, like medical, will be introduced in the next phase of development.

The first 500 customers to use e-Surance will enjoy a free gift of a multi-purpose travel adaptor worth HK$200. Customers can register as members through the e-finance web site at www.e-finance.com.hk. For further details, please call the e-Surance hotline at 2861 6328 or CASH customer services hotline at 2169 3388; or visit the e-Surance web page at www.e-finance.com.hk/ins/esu.

      Hi!

      Jun 11, 2001 - 10:13:10 HKT
      Quamnet News Service
Pricerite Group Ltd. (0996), a household furniture retailer, soared as much as 88 percent after saying that it will place 35 million shares at 40 HK cents each in order to restore the minimum public float of 25 percent.

CASH to Inject Brokerage Business Into On-line Arm for HK$438 Mln
      Jun 29, 2001 - 09:16:15 HKT
      Quamnet News Service
Celestial Asia Securities Holdings Ltd. (CASH, 1049) said it will inject its brokerage business into its 50.08 percent-held CASH on-line Ltd. (8122), which is listed on the Growth Enterprise Market.

CASH said it has conditionally agreed to transfer its wholly-owned Celestial Financial Services Group Ltd. (CFSG) to CASH on-line for HK$438 million. CASH on-line will issue a convertible note which is convertible into 2.92 billion shares in the company to CASH, which represents 59.17 percent of its enlarged issued share capital. The initial conversion price is 15 HK cents per share, being a 0.01 percent discount to its closing on June 27.

Upon full conversion of the convertible note, CASH`s shareholding in CASH on-line will increase to 79.62 percent, which means the public float of the GEM-listed company will fall below the requirement of exchange rules. CASH has undertaken that it will not convert the entire or part of the convertible note in a way that the public float will fall below the requirement.

The consideration of HK$438 million represents a premium of 25.14 percent to CFSG`s pro-forma net book value, including shareholder`s loan outstanding, as at April 30. CFSG`s business include brokerage of securities and commodities, margin financing, corporate finance, financial research and nominee services.

CASH and CASH on-line shares will resume trading today after yesterday`s suspension. They were last quoted at 21.7 HK cents and 15.1 HK cents respectively.

      Hallo Casher,

Celestial Asia results reflect lower contribution from CASH, restructure costs
      Mar 15, 2002 - 19:25:01 HKT
      AFX-ASIA
HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - Celestial Asia Securities Ltd said lower revenue contributions from its associate CASH Financial Services Group Ltd in light of the depressed securities market environment, restructuring costs and provisions led to the decline in its results for 2001.

The company reported a 2001 net loss of 454.036 mln hkd, compared to a loss of 336.351 mln hkd a year earlier. The company booked a loss of 467.741 mln hkd during the year for changes in inventories of finished goods.

Revenue contribution from the company`s associate CASH Financial Services Group Ltd declined by more than 52.6 pct to 223.4 mln hkd.

However, sales for the period rose to 973.560 mln hkd from 472.836 mln the year before, largely reflecting the contribution from the Pricerite Group since the acquisition in March.

The group said it maintained a solid balance sheet during the year, and its net asset value was at 902.6 mln hkd and its cash and bank balances was 761.7 mln hkd at Dec 31.

"We foresee an imminent turnaround in the US economy, which has started to show signs of a recovery. Hence we anticipate the downtrend of the current business cycle to end," company chairman Bankee Kwan said.

      Zur Unterhaltung ein wenig Infos:

      CASH Announces 2001 Annual Results

Successful Transformation: from cyclical brokerage business to multifaceted service conglomerate with multiple income streams.
Financial Strength: strong balance sheet geared to underpin our long term growth strategy.
Clear Vision: solid infrastructure paves the way for the Group to thrive in next business cycle.
(Hong Kong, 15 March 2002) The Hong Kong based service conglomerate, Celestial Asia Securities Holdings Limited ("CASH" or together with its subsidiaries "the Group") [SEHK: 1049] announced 2001 annual results today. Consolidated turnover of the Group increased by 105.9% to HK$973.6 million from 31 December 2000 to 31 December 2001, mainly due to the contribution from Pricerite Group Limited ("Pricerite") since the acquisition in March 2001.

The prolonged severe draught in the securities market resulted in an acute decline in revenue contribution from CASH Financial Services Group Limited ("CASH Financial Services") by more than 52.6% to HK$223.4 million compared that of the previous year. This, together with one-off restructuring costs incurred by the consolidation of operations, as well as prudent one-off provisions for certain investments, led to a consolidated operating loss of HK$454 million for 2001. This rationalization and the one-time provisions pave the way for the Group for the next business cycle.

The Group remained financially strong and continued to maintain a solid balance sheet, recording a net asset value of HK$902.6 million and the cash and bank balances was HK$761.7 million as at 31 December 2001.

During the year, the ratio of the total bank borrowings to shareholders¡¦ equity reached 17.2% as at 31 December 2001 from 10.2% as at 31 December 2000. The Group`s gearing was maintained at a prudent level, especially when the majority of the borrowings were used to finance the margin clients of CASH Financial Services. The client borrowings against bank financing were able to be set-off with a net interest margin earned from the margin book. The Group was not exposed to any interest rate risk.

The ratio of current assets to current liabilities was 1.5 as at 31 December 2001.

The Board does not recommend the payment of any final dividend for the year ended 31 December 2001.

Despite the disappointing results, last year was a year of exceptional achievement for the CASH Group as a whole. The Group began 2001 principally as a well managed financial services company relying on highly cyclical brokerage income. CASH is now a multi-dimensional service conglomerate with a clearly defined structure and multiple sources of recurring revenue stream. The stabilised cash flow generated from the internal operations of its core businesses will complement and support the developments of its high growth strategic investments in pursuit of the Group`s long-term growth strategy.

The Group was restructured into four key business areas.

      Financial services
CFSG faced up to a combination of adverse markets, intense competition, as well as structural and regulatory changes in the brokerage industry to emerge as a multi-product financial services institution with broadened core competence and distribution channels as well as comprehensive product range
The successful merger and integration of the offline and online businesses created a greater economy of scale together with a more focused management and use of resources.
Across-the-board cost reduction initiative brought about rationalization and streamlining of business operations. It led to cost leadership and capital preservation in a climate where the only the fittest survive.
Diversified its services and product offerings to add more value to its customers.
CFSG is financially strong with cash and bank balances of HK$477.9 million. It is well prepared for the anticipated regulatory challenges this year and is ready to capitalise on its solid foundation to gain market share in 2002.
      Household retail
Pricerite was acquired to bring in non-cyclical recurring operating revenue to complement the CFSG income stream.
Despite dire consumer sentiment, Pricerite marked the completion of it¡¦s turnaround initiative with a remarkable year of increased profit and sector leadership in 2001.
The positive result was a measure of the capabilities of the new management team who brought significant improvements in brand strength, product mix, logistical strength, customer service as well as shopping environment.
      Technology solutions
Halo Group Limited ("Halo") was created to capitalise on the Group`s research and development in high technology projects. It was set up to capture the growing demand and opportunities for innovative information technology software business in Greater China and to develop into one of the Group`s principal business down the road.
Halo made great strides towards developing a viable high growth business during the few short months of operation in 2001. It already managed to build a client portfolio with over 15 corporate clients including HSBC, Sony and the South China Morning Post.
      Optical fibre
Transtech Services Group ("Transtech"), the Group`s joint venture optical fibre-manufacturing arm and focused its efforts to develop the first Hong Kong based optical fibre manufacturing plant.
The plant is designed to produce Single Mode Fibre of highest standard for telecommunication applications at an estimated annual output of 1.25 million km.
Production test run is scheduled during the first half of 2002.
Comments by Bankee Kwan, Chairman and CEO
"We anticipated the changes and prepared to capitalize from the economic turmoil by initiating a series of sweeping corporate restructuring. In so doing, we transformed the Group from what was mainly a single business financial services group into a multifaceted service conglomerate with clearly defined structure and multiple sources of recurring income.

"CASH stands on a solid financial position and we confidently expect it to operates with steadily improved results. Our chief executive officers and their management teams responded admirably to our call to arms and fulfilled all the key imperatives we laid down despite overwhelming obstacles. We are now in a position to move forward and pursue our long-term objectives by leveraging on the improved and stabilised cash flow generated from the internal operations of the core businesses in finance and household retail as well as our two technology based strategic investments projects.

"We foresee an imminent turnaround in the US economy, which has started to show signs of a recovery. Hence we anticipate the downtrend of the current business cycle to end. The Group is now well placed to weather any near term challenges while leveraging on the solid foundation of financial and income portfolio to develop and grow in the forthcoming new business cycle.

"Our goal is to build CASH and our businesses into a cross-sector service conglomerate by developing the brand names under our management to be synonymous with the highest standard of customer service. While there may still be difficult challenges to face, I am confident that our darkest days are behind us. Our four key businesses have weathered the worst economic environment possible and came out leaner but stronger. We are certain that 2002 will see us embark on a new journey of growth and development."

      Hallo nocheinmal,

      optical fiber

A thin glass strand designed for light transmission. A single hair-thin fiber is capable of transmitting trillions of bits per second. In addition to their huge transmission capacity, optical fibers offer many advantages over electricity and copper wire. Light pulses are not affected by random radiation in the environment, and their error rate is significantly lower. Fibers allow longer distances to be spanned before the signal has to be regenerated by expensive "repeaters." Fibers are more secure, because taps in the line can be detected, and lastly, fiber installation is streamlined due to their dramatically lower weight and smaller size compared to copper cables.

For years, the telephone companies have used fibers extensively to rebuild their communications infrastructure. According to KMI Corporation, specialists in fiber optic market research, by the end of 1990 there were approximately eight million miles of fiber laid in the U.S. (this is miles of fiber, not miles of cable which can contain many fibers). By the end of 2000, there were 80 million miles in the U.S. and 225 million worldwide. Copper cable is increasingly being replaced with fibers for LAN backbones as well, and this usage is expected to increase substantially.

An optical fiber is constructed of a transparent core made of nearly pure silicon dioxide (SiO2), through which the light travels. The core is surrounded by a cladding layer that reflects light, guiding the light along the core. A plastic coating covers the cladding to protect the glass surface. Cables also include fibers of Kevlar and/or steel wires for strength and an outer sheath of plastic or Teflon for protection.

For glass fibers, there are two "optical windows" where the fiber is most transparent and efficient. The centers of these windows are 1300 nm and 1550 nm, providing approximately 18,000GHz and 12,000GHz respectively, for a total of 30,000GHz. This enormous bandwidth is potentially usable in one fiber. Plastic is also used for short-distance fiber runs, and their transparent windows are typically 650 nm and in the 750-900 nm range.

There are two primary types of fiber. Multimode fiber is very common for short distances and has a core diameter of from 50 to 100 microns. For intercity cabling and highest speed, singlemode fiber with a core diameter of less than 10 microns is used. See laser, WDM, fiber optics glossary and cable categories.
