North Korea has permitted Iranian nuclear scientists to study the results of Pyongyang's October 2006 nuclear test in order to assist Iran in preparing to conduct its own underground nuclear test, British daily Telegraph reported Jan. 24, citing an unnamed senior European defense official. The official said Iran could attempt to conduct its test by the end of the year

Iran Preparing for Nuclear Test With North Korean Help?
According to a senior European defense official, North Korea has agreed to share all the data from their nuclear test with Iranian scientists. The official said that an Iranian underground nuclear test could come before the end of this year.
A likely test site would be in the mountains where spy satellites are less effective. Meanwhile Iranian President Ahmadinejad has told the US that they are not in a position to hurt Iran and that their "psychological war" will have no effect.
"We have identified increased activity at all of Iran’s nuclear facilities since the turn of the year. All the indications are that the Iranians are working hard to prepare for their own underground nuclear test." the official said.

LONDON: North Korea is helping Iran in preparing for an underground nuclear test, similar to the one carried out by Pyongyang last year.

North Korea has agreed to share with Iran all the information about the tests conducted by them last year as per a new understanding between the two nations, The Daily Telegraph said on Wednesday.

"North Korea had invited a team of Iranian nuclear scientists to study the results of last October's underground test to assist Teheran's preparations to conduct its own possibly by the end of this year," a senior European defence official told The Daily.
"The Iranians are working closely with the North Koreans to study the results of last year's North Korean nuclear bomb test," he said.

"We have identified increased activity at all of Iran's nuclear facilities since the turn of the year. All the indications are that the Iranians are working hard to prepare for their own underground nuclear test," the official said.

The location of the proposed test site is unknown, but is likely to be located in a mountainous region where it is difficult for spy satellites to locate the activity, the report said

Wenns stimmt, dann könnte man das kaum noch verhindern bzw. müßte unmittelbar reagieren.

Wenns nicht stimmt: Dann ist es kriegsvorbereitende Propaganda. Und die wird naturgemäß nicht bewiesen. Selbst wenn man das verlangt: Wie man die Weltöffentlichkeit mit simplen Powerpoint Folien und gefakten Hochglanzphotos bescheißt, hat Collin Powell trefflich demonstriert. Das hat er doch damals richtig gut gemacht. Zumindest Tony Blair hat ihm alles abgenommen.


Da im Großen und Ganzen niemand auf diese Meldung großartig reagiert, gehe ich mal von zweitem aus. Zutrauen tu ich den Persern einen versteckten militärischen Zweig allerdings trotzdem.

Iran says it built satellite launcher

Iran has converted its 30-ton Shahab-3 missile into a satellite launch vehicle, a US-based aviation journal reported Thursday.

According to Aviation Week and Space Technology, Alaoddin Boroujerdi, chairman of Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told a group of students and clerics in Qom, near one of Iran's missile test sites, that the launcher is assembled and will "soon" be sent into space with one of Iran's satellites.
Israeli defense expert Uzi Rubin, in a report to the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, said that "once Iran learns how to put 300 kg. into earth orbit, it could adapt the satellite launcher into an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that could drop more than 300 kg. anywhere in the world."
In August, an Iranian hard-line cleric warned Israel that Iranian missiles would land in Tel Aviv if the "Jewish state" attacked Iran, Iranian state-run television reported.

Ahmad Khatami, a mid-ranking cleric, said Israel should bear in mind its month-long war with Hizbullah before considering any threats against Iran.
Boasting that Hizbullah's 70-km.-range missiles 'turned Israel into a country of ghosts,' Khatami declared that Israel would face dire consequences if it 'makes an iota of aggression against Iran.'
'They must fear the day [Iran's] 2,000-kilometer-range missiles land in the heart of Tel Aviv,' he said.
Iran has consistently claimed that its Shahab-3 missiles have a range of 2,000 km. However, US defense analysts believe the Shahab-3's range to be 800-1,000 km., which nevertheless includes Israel, Saudi Arabia, all of the Persian Gulf, and southern Turkey.

However, Congress has received reports from the US Defense Intelligence Agency that Iran could develop an ICBM with a range of 3,000 km. by 2015.

North Korea denies working with Iran

SEOUL, South Korea

North Korea dismissed allegations Saturday that it is cooperating with Iran in nuclear development, accusing Western media of spreading lies to damage the communist country's reputation.

North Korea - which quit the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in early 2003 - conducted its first nuclear weapons test in October, drawing criticism from the international community and raising concerns about nuclear proliferation.

On Wednesday, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph said North Korea was helping Iran to prepare for its own underground test, possibly before the end of this year, citing an unidentified senior European defense official.

The "assertion is nothing but a sheer lie and fabrication intended to tarnish the image of (North Korea) by charging it with nuclear proliferation," North Korea's Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the North's official Korean Central News Agency on Saturday.

The ministry vowed that the North would continue to honor its duty in the area of nuclear nonproliferation as a "responsible nuclear weapons state."

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said the UN's nuclear watchdog had seen no direct evidence of such cooperation.

Last week, an Iranian Foreign Ministry delegation led by Vice Minister Mahdi Safari met senior North Korean officials in Pyongyang and signed a three-year agreement on unspecified scientific exchanges, KCNA has said, without giving further details.

North Korea and Iran are both under intense international pressure to give up their nuclear programs. The North is believed to have sold missiles to Iran.

The North's strong denial came as the US, Japan, China, Russia and South Korea prepare to hold a new round of talks with North Korea aimed at shutting down its nuclear weapons program.

The talks are expected to resume as early as February 8, according to officials. The previous round in December ended with no apparent progress.
