      DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 1999--Efficient Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:EFNT), a leading supplier of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) customer premises equipment (CPE), today announced the continued expansion into China with the recent hiring of Albert Xiaofeng GU, sales manager for the region.
      "We are seeing tremendous growth in the Asian markets as the DSL technology is gaining wide acceptance," according to Paul Couturier, vice president of International Operations for Efficient Networks, Inc. "The market is taking off and we are expanding our offices and services to meet the continuing needs and to support our new customers in China and the Asia Pac region."
      Recent additions to Efficient Networks Asian customer base includes XinJiang PTA China (post and telecommunications department in XinJiang, western China). XinJiang chose Efficient Networks for an ADSL network being deployed later this year, with the initial phase to include equipping fifteen central offices. XinJiang will utilize Efficient`s SpeedStream ADSL network for a variety of consumer, academic and business applications including high-speed Internet access, high-quality videoconferencing, telemedicine, tele-learning and video-on-demand.
      Efficient`s CPE will be paired with Siemens XpressLink Digital Subscriber Access Multiplexers (DSLAMs) as the central office equipment for XinJiang`s ADSL services. CPE will enable subscriber access. XinJiang will deploy Efficient Networks` recently announced SpeedStream 3041, an internal modem that easily plugs directly into a PC and delivers a cost-effective solution for connecting Microsoft Windows users and workgroups.
      "According to China Internet Network Information Center (CINIC), the number of users on the Chinese Internet reached 4 million by July 1999. Just six months ago the number from the same source was 1.5 million, which means that the local user base has almost tripled in the first half of the year.       Expedia (Nasdaq:EXPE), which was spun off from Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT), was priced at $14 and opened at $37. In early October, it was hit by a suit from its main competitor, Priceline.com (Nasdaq:PCLN). Getthere.com recently signed an agreement with American Express (NYSE:AXP), which will recommend the company to IPO investors. Quintus (Nasdaq:QNTS), NetCreations (Nasdaq:NTCR),and iBasis (Nasdaq:IBAS) are among the other Internet IPOs for November 10-16.

      Diese Story klingt auch sehr spannend:

      Die Analysten von Hornblower Fischer raten dem Anleger derzeit zu einem Engagement in Aktien des Unternehmens Terra Networks.

      Vor wenigen Tagen sei mit Terra zum ersten mal ein spanischer Wert an der Nasdaq gelistet worden. Der Betreiber von Internetzugängen und Portalen plane, Marktführer in der spanisch und portugiesisch sprechenden Welt zu werden. Zielgruppe seien Private und kleinere Unternehmen. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, akquiriere das Unternehmen fleißig. Gerade der lateinamerikanische Markt sei noch sehr klein und berge enormes Potential, aber aufgrund von wiederkehrenden politischen und wirtschaftlichen Krisen auch enormes Risiko. Bisher schreibe Terra hohe Verluste. Das werde sich vor 2002 auch nicht ändern. Da sei es von Vorteil, mit der spanischen Telefonica eine starken Mutterkonzern zu haben.

      Für das erst im Dezember 1998 gegründete Unternehmen würden noch keine gesicherten Zahlen vorliegen. Bei einem Kurs von 31 Dollar (nach einem Ausgabepreis von ca 13 Dollar) sei jedoch schon einiges an Phantasie vorweggenommen. Die Kursentwicklung des Konkurrenten Starmedia sollte der Anleger im Hinterkopf behalten, denn die Konkurrenz werde mit dem Eintritt von AOL und Lycos nicht kleiner. Ein Vorteil sei, dass Terra Networks der einzige am spanischen Markt gelistete Hightech Wert sei, und es so zu "Knappheitspreisen" kommen könne. Die Aktie sei jedoch nur für spekulative Investoren zu empfehlen.
