"LYC may be the big one, but keep an even head and at least listens to the few who take the trouble to explain their thoughts in some even handed fashion. If you are blind to any view that does not fit your view of the world then you will eventually get fleeced."

      Cafa,

What you have warned i have already thought about it a step ahead already, that why i made an immediate follow up post that when i get time i will write up an article how ree companies go about selling dreams to shareholders, the tip and tricks an what to watch out for.

When the dot.com bubble burst even companies like Amazon and Ebay also crashed in the panic and all the wannable Dot coms companies like the ones you invested went on to go bust while Amazon would go on to survive and prosper and go on to dominate the world. That how view Lynas, it an Amazon company.

When you said you invested in a dotcom company and it went bust and you claim Lynas will do the same let me ask you question.

      1) What is the name of your dot.com company and what did it do? (For my further background research)

      2) Was the company generating Revenue? And did it have massive cash balance in the bank to cushion any future shocks?

      3) Did your dotcom company has a Worldclass team with proven HANDS ON experience past success in raising capital and starting up internet companies who would go on to become profitable companies? Who were they?

      4) Did your DOTCOM company have already all the infrastructures set up in place?

Besides selling a website do they have all the facilities in place to make sure the product get delivered to the customer in timely fashion? Did they manage to build a huge industry contacts

Even if you answer NO to any of your question then why did you even invest in the company?

Lynas ticks all those boxes and now the only thing in my way is Sovereign risk.

Aushed made mention that the Australian Government don't care about Lynas that is not true. Colin Barnett and his team is very interested in Rare Earth and a project was put in place to further develop research and even design a chemical processing plant in WA and it was a co development with the exploration REE Companies in Australia . It was kept Hush Hush at that time because Labor Party got in power and The Green Party was still strong back then and all of us here know what the so called GREEN Party think about Rare Earths. I can only reveal the plans now because:

      A) Labor Party/ Green Party is Losing Power
      B) Pretty Much REE Explorers are going Bust or about to go bust and so went the plan down the drain.

And to get back to you Cafa so that just to be fair i am not seem as firing question at you without answering them myself for my company. i will go through the 4 points:

      1) My company Lynas, the first and only true supplier of REE outside of China. I had a chance to ask Dudley Kingsnorth and Later Nick Curtis this question 1 or 2 years ago and they answered without even a blink of an eye. It goes along the lines of:

Q: How many REE projects is happening around the world at the moment?

      A: A few Hundred .

Q: How many do you think will survive?

      A: Less then 5.

      2) Lynas has started generating revenue with the production of ON SPEC products which is they are making a product that the customer wants and satify their specific needs. Cashflow to flow in 1 month to 1.5 month of creating those products. Lynas also has 175 Million reasons in their bank account to survive this crunch. In the mean time REE Explorers has no way of getting cash at the moment, except for one; China and their thank you gift to shareholders is a pineapple.

      3) Nick Curtis has past experience in developing companies and bringing them to production aka Singold. Name me the CEO of your dotcom and what is his past Success. My answer not good enough What about Eric Noyrez? Ran and developed REE Business for Rhodia and great reputation to his name for making sure Rhodia stayed profitable. While REE explorer crumble and their directors is jumping ship, Lynas is already way ahead in the development curve with Mike Vaisey and the Chinese team in Duncan. If Like while companies are struggling to quickly introduce their versions of the Ipod, Apple came out with the Iphone. Duncan will be Lynas's Iphone.

      4) What infrastructure did your company have in place can you tell me? What network chain supply has already been developed? Lynas set up their plant in Kuantan, roads and infrastructure already there, water supply nearby, electricity connected, chemical supplier contracts all signed and ready to go and not to mention a deal with Malaysia's biggest corporation Petronas. Meanwhile our new CEO is travelling around Europe catching up with confidential business contacts at RHodia and various other businesses to buy the product and these contacts are INVALUABLE. These contacts don't simply open doors to any average Joe Blow or Tom Dick and Harry that rocks up at their door. Has anyone placed any value on Eric's contacts in businesses and also not to forget Lynas alliances with BASF, Petronas and Siemens?

This leads my question back to you can you tell me with your dotcom company what business alliances did they develop or what strategic partner did they have? Any big names?

If you cant give me a comprehensive answer to the question i have posed to associate Lynas with your failed dot com business is ludicrous. Let me emphasize this to you and i know i have said this many times: IF CHINA WANTS IT, I bloody want it. I have no hesitation of buying more. While people cry I dream of buying and this leads to my article which i need to post when i get the time which is How Institutional Money Flows.

Look i can go on forever; you can start to tell I can give a presentation seminar about this but i rest my case.

Disclaimer: My post are from my own research and understanding of the industry and not a recommendation. Buying Lynas share are not for the faint hearted or people suffering from a heart condition. Please do your own research as well reading my POV. Thank you.

Malaysian Government Calls Election: Bets on LYNAS and 400 Billion Economic Program
Posted on April 8, 2013 by Alessandro Bruno

Lynas Corp (ASX: LYC | OTCQX: LYSDY) is heading toward one of its biggest challenges. Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak formally suspended Parliament on April 3rd signaling an imminent election and the start of the campaign period. Malaysians expect this to be the closest and most intense in the country’s history. The government has backed Lynas’s Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) facility in Malaysia, while the opposition has opportunistically exploited environmentalist activism in its campaign platform, prompting fears that Lynas would either have to pack up or halt operations for an unsustainable length of time.

Lynas shares have come under pressure lately, despite the legal victories over actions launched by Malaysian Save Malaysia Stop Lynas (SMSL), a group intent on blocking its license to operate in Malaysia. While last week’s downward pressure might be related to the election; this may indeed be shortsighted as the drop is more reflective of the market in general. The sector is trying to absorb the low performance of the Chinese rare earth producer Baotou Steel, which endured a 57% profit loss from lower commodity prices. Baotou’s losses owed much to the company’s forced shut down last year as Chinese authorities set out to enforce tougher environmental regulations and production quotas.

The Malaysian election was never an issue; it had to be called this month and it will probably be called before month’s end, even if the legal deadline is June 27, 2013. There is no doubt that if the current government of Najib Razak wins, it will stabilize Lynas performance and end a great deal of the uncertainty hovering over its license to operate in Malaysia. The drop in Molycorp shares may also have influenced the rare earth market in general.

The Malaysian government is heading to the polls banking on a USD 400 billion Economic Transformation Program (ETP), legislated in 2010, which aims to raise Malaysia’s status from Middle to High-income nation status by 2020. The fact that the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) made strong gains, winning 13 national states, in the last election (2008) has prompted the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) to make a number of electoral promises in support of further economic growth and development. The PR has been challenging the government more on issues of corruption and environmental degradation, explaining its politically opportunistic alignment to the SMSL group. That said, as far as corruption goes, the opposition PR leader, Anwar Ibrahim, a former BN government Finance minister, was fired in 1997-1998 on charges of corruption. Evidently, LAMP is a component of the ETP.

The government has banked on Lynas’s high technology facility to help attract more advanced technology companies to invest in Malaysia. Average income levels have been increasing in Malaysia thanks to government incentives and the BN’s campaign, launched over the past weekend, hinted at more such policies along with more infrastructure projects such as highways and railways.

The opposition PR hopes to make gains on social and ethnic issues, trying to balance the rights of citizens of Chinese and Indian with official ‘Malays’. Yet one of the three PR coalition members, the Islamist and highly socially conservative PAS party is somewhat at odds ideologically with the others (especially the Chinese dominated Democratic Action Party). Indeed, for all its proposals aimed at uniting Malays, the opposition PR risks unravelling and losing because of its disjointed nature. Indeed, the very fact that the DAP and PAS could even be seen together in the same room, let alone run for elections together, is a red flag. PAS is somewhat similar to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and its ultimate goal is to run an Islamic based theocratic government. DAP are determined supporters of secular politics; rather the opposite as PAS. The whole world has been witnessing in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya what kind of political instability can be generated when parties based on such different ideological makeup clash.

As for Lynas, it has already been suggested that the opposition PR holds conflicting views about the plant within its own ranks. The PR leader Anwar Ibrahim himself has challenged views within his own coalition (another example of disunity and weakness), pledging to support the LAMP facility if it were proven to be safe after another inquiry. Other leading PR members have suggested as much. Accordingly, the government (the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation – MOSTI) has taken a strategic step of appointing a panel to monitor Lynas’s compliance with the conditions set out in its temporary operational license (TOL) on matters of safety and environmental regulation.

The Malaysian Institute of Chemistry president Datuk Dr Soon Ting Kueh will oversee the commission. Another key member is the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Malaysia, Pahang; Prof Datuk Dr Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz (who is an official speaker at the 2013 Technology Metals Summit) would be the official spokesman for the project. Prof. Badhrulhisham also provided technical information to government about the LAMP Project and is engaged with the Kuantan community, working and residing there. Lynas will have to establish compliance with 31 recommendations with regards to its temporary operating license. Lynas, for its part is confident that it will be allowed to continue operations regardless of political outcome, suggesting that the recent series of Court decisions in its favor and in light of a slew of allegations show that Malaysia is ultimately pragmatic. The appointment of the Monitoring Panel is good for Lynas: it will establish facts that will be harder to disprove regardless of whom wins the vote and also suggests a high level of confidence in Lynas’s activity and longevity.

      Negative sentiment hits Lynas value

      by: GILLIAN TAN
      From: The Australian April 03, 2013 12:00AM

HARES in rare earths miner Lynas suffered a significant hit on the Australian market yesterday, falling to a three-year low on negative sentiment around the outlook for its product, writes The Australian's Sarah-Jane Tasker.

Shares in the company fell 9.82 per cent to 50c, a level last witnessed in 2010.

Patersons Securities analyst Andrew Harrington said the share price fall was not directly related to the company but a reaction to the weakness in rare earths miner Molycorp and to the weak guidance from China's Baotou Steel, the biggest producer in the world.

US-based Molycorp, owner of the largest rare earths deposit outside China, reported a wider than expected loss earlier this month on the back of a decline in the price of rare earths and after missing a production target.

Baotou cut its 2013 revenue guidance and said it saw no signs of recovery in the rare earth industry this year.

"Neither of those should terribly effect the share price of Lynas on a day-to-day basis," Harrington said.

"Part of the weakness Baotou is talking about is Lynas ramping up and increasing supply of product in the market, so therefore you will see weaker prices."

Lynas's share price previously had been under pressure on the back of delays to its processing plant in Malaysia, which some community groups vehemently opposed but failed in their legal attempts to stop it proceeding.

"I think the company is extremely undervalued but there are institutions I speak to who are looking for reasons not to invest and quickly running out of reasons," Harrington said.

The company finally celebrated first production from the plant at the end of February after extensive environmental conditions were met. The Malaysian government had signed off on a temporary operating licence for the plant last September.

The upcoming Malaysian elections and speculation that a change of government could see the rules for the plant overhauled also could be weighing on the stock but Harrington said yesterday that was looking like a possible issue that will be overcome.

"I suspect that even if the opposition does succeed that won't have any real impact on the facility," he said.

US Expert Calls Lynas Plant One of the Safest in the World

      Tuesday, 02 April 2013 newsadmin

A leading US expert on rare earths technology has described the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) in Gebeng as among the safest of its size in the world.

"No one has built a bigger rare earth plant than in Malaysia and Lynas' procedures are all in place," Jack Lifton said in a report after his recent visit to the plant to see its first finished product.

"The external radiation is negligible," he noted.

After nearly five decades in the industry, Lifton is a sought-after advisor in the high-tech metal research sector and in investment. He is considered a leading authority on the sourcing and end-use trends of rare earths and strategic metals.

In February, Lynas announced that it had finally produced its first products at the new plant, sending shares rocketing after a tense period when the politicisation of the plant threatened to halt Malaysia's opportunity to make inroads in this lucrative market.

"It has the potential to produce 20,000 tonnes of rare earth products a year and it will achieve this by end of June," Lifton said.

"Lynas investors can finally sleep peacefully after having invested RM2 billion and seeing everything working well," he added.

Lifton said that the Lynas rare earths plant would develop a local supply chain in Malaysia to cater to this high-tech sector.

"Lynas has just announced that it will sell up to a certain portion of the LAMP's output preferentially to Malaysian companies that want to further process the rare earths and use the downstream products to make end-user products. I think we are seeing the seeding, thereby, of a Malaysian total rare earth supply chain," he wrote on March 7.

"When you ramp it (the rare earths industry), make money and provide jobs, pay taxes, all this (anti-Lynas opposition) will go away and they will see the real and good sense behind it," he pointed out.

Dancing to BN’s Tune Leaves Guan Eng Out of Step
      Wednesday, 27 March 2013 Newsdesk

Lim Guan Eng's political persona is pretty easy to sum up. He plays the dour but sensible Chinese leader who is the self-styled solution to everything that is BN.

For years this has worked well for him as he chastised the Federal Government for all its flaws and refused to be questioned on his own decisions. Just look at what happened to Tunku Aziz and the banned New Straits Times and Utusan Malaysia journalists when they dared challenge him.

Guan Eng got away with this act because as chief minister, he could always sit back and point to the performance of his state. Despite the fact he inherited a successful Penang from BN in 2008, he has successfully managed to take credit for it in the years since.

But then the state's economy began to wobble, with a slump in manufacturing and investment plunging from RM12.24 billion in 2010 to just RM2.47 billion in 2012 – a 73 percent drop. Suddenly Penang isn't bullet-proof and this has caused Guan Eng to do what was previously unthinkable – panic.

What we are seeing now is Lim Guan Eng Mark II, the fallible human being. He has seen that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's economic vision for Malaysia has made us a powerhouse economy and that large infrastructure projects have played a part in that.

The result is that the copy-cat chief minister has come up with his own infrastructure programme that includes a tunnel that no one wants or needs, three highways and new road tolls that defy Pakatan Rakyat's month-old manifesto pledge to abolish such tolls.

One consortium was granted all four projects in a process that has been described as a "rush job" to get them up and running ahead of GE13 – a charge that Guan Eng has now been forced to defend.

Indeed, the backlash to this kneejerk politics is now in full swing. Last weekend there were protests against the tunnel, the tolls and the Penang perennial problem - the lack of affordable housing. There were also protests against Guan Eng's personal drive to allow the use of the word "Allah" in the Malay Bible. This controversy too is the unwanted offspring of one of his rash remarks.

Guan Eng is panicking and he has every reason to. BN is resurgent in the state with polls showing it is ahead in 14 Malay-majority state seats. It has a candidate list with 40 percent new faces (as per Najib's promise to focus on youth and talent) and the ruling coalition's success there is in no small part due to the vision and hard work of state BN chairman Teng Chang Yeow, the man hand-picked by Najib in 2011 with the brief of shaking things up in the wake of the GE12 drubbing. At that election MCA and MIC won not a single seat between them.

Teng's success in revitalising Penang BN has been exemplary, which only adds to Guan Eng's woes. And as The Choice has so often pointed out, he doesn't react well when things go against him.

Guan Eng is now a reactive leader who is dancing to BN's tune. Gone is the cool calm chief minister and DAP secretary general who floats imperiously above the fray. The Guan Eng who'll fight in the federal and state elections (as a controversial double-hatter), announcing large projects on the run, is a flustered politician who is truly out of step.

      Lynas looking for a treasurer

As part of the management restructure following its transition from development to an operating phase at the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant in Malaysia, Lynas Corp is searching for an experienced corporate treasurer.

“Corporate treasury experience, rather than just experience working in treasury in a bank environment, is essential,” said chief financial officer Luisa Catanzaro. “The successful candidate must have experience in treasury reporting systems, setting up policies, looking at hedging, managing currency and banking relationships.”

Speaking to CFO in February, Catanzaro said she was in the process of adding a Malaysian bank to the syndicate and her aspiration was to have a mixture of Australian and Malaysian banks on the panel.

She worked with JPMorgan Investment Bank to get a $175 million equity raising off the ground in 2012. At the moment the company has only one loan, through the Japanese Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), an agency which invests in projects of strategic significance for the Japanese government.

A secure supply of rare earths is considered critical for Japan’s electronics manufacturing industry. Rare earths processing is dominated by China. Lynas has an off-take agreement with Sojitz Corporation for approximately 85, 000 tonnes of rare earth metals a year.

The company also has funding from its Mt Kellet convertible bond.

At this stage, the need for the newly created role of treasurer has arisen as the rare earths mining company recently moved from being a developer to a producer.

Although the company won the first of a series of government approvals for its Lynas Advanced Materials Plant in Kuantan, Malaysia in late 2007 the project has been subject to community opposition and a series of regulatory delays. It started operating at the end of February.

On March 4, the company announced that effective from March 31, Eric Noyrez will succeed Nicholas Curtis as CEO. Curtis will remain on the board as non-executive chairman. Liam Forde was appointed deputy chairman.
